      @NizzyNizerson If there were more money on youtube, theyd be here but they're not because various TV channels around the world have paid for the rights to broadcast Wimbledon. Sports throughout the world are still major attractions to cable tv, that's why sports aren't moving to the internet as quickly as other media.

    Just look at the points in those early years.. such fast paced courts.. those were the real grass courts.. Now they're turning every court to slow.

    • @juanestebankruhsanmguel1960
      @juanestebankruhsanmguel1960 5 років тому +58

      Because of the new technology of rackets,they slowed the courts to generate a balance,if we put the modern rackets in the old grass all the matches would be like Isner-karlovic and tennis audience will decrease and naturally dissapear,they didnt slow the courts to benefit baseliners,they did to maintain the balance

    • @juanestebankruhsanmguel1960
      @juanestebankruhsanmguel1960 5 років тому +13

      Yes,the courts are slower but that's because of the new rackets technology,there are many aspects who determine how fast a surface is
      -racket technology
      -weight of the balls
      -speed of the court
      -bounce of the ball
      They need to create a balance to the surface be competitive,if they maintained the speed the servebots would dominate the tour and also the audience will decrease a lot

    • @masters.1000
      @masters.1000 5 років тому +5

      @Jack RYAN CPI of Wimbledon is barely above 30 points. RG has almost 27 points. It's ridiculous.

    • @mayanksharma484
      @mayanksharma484 5 років тому +9

      @Jack RYAN Yes there are. Montréal, Cincinnati, Dubai, Shanghai.. to name a few. But the essence of grass courts is a bit lost in these last few years.

    • @phanindrak9880
      @phanindrak9880 5 років тому +17

      Juan Esteban Kruh Sanmguel then according to your logic the court speed should have been the same rather than getting slowed. I mean if modern racket technology increased the speed of the shot( ball velocity) then courts should have been slowed only by some amount where the speed of the court is almost equal to late 1990s and early 2000s. But now even a 140 mph serve is easily returned. So things have been slowed down far too much than necessary. And your argument that fast grass courts would decrease tennis audience is absolute bullshit. Grass season is hardly a month. It would be good to see different tennis being played for a month than playing long baseline slugfests.

    • @___Robin___
      @___Robin___ 5 років тому +8

      @Daniel Bautista The last time he lost to Federer he was actually better than Federer he didn't drop one service game in his entire road to wimbledon prior to set 5. He lost a ton of opportunities and easy smashes. I think Roddick deserved that one more than Federer, not because of the record but because of Roddick being the better player that day. Unfortunately he couldn't convert a 40-15 on Fed serve in set 5 and missed a rather easy volley smash some games later on costing him the match.

      @Jimmy Savile - Totally agree. Fed’s biggest weakness by far, in my opinion, is his very poor break point percentage against the top players.
