Inspired by the 1988 classic “Red Storm Rising”, command a nuclear submarine in a desperate attempt to prevent “mutually assured destruction” when the Cold War gets hot and WWIII begins.
You will be tasked with intercepting convoys, amphibious landings, insertion missions and battling it out with enemy warships, submarines and aircraft. Thankfully, an arsenal of wire-guided torpedoes, anti-ship and cruise missiles and the occasional SEAL team are on board to keep the Iron Curtain at bay.
Sir Wolfpack, I have been sick with a brutal head cold for the last 5 days. I started watching your silent hunter 3 type IX career from the beginning about saturday noon, and finished it last night. (Much to my.. also sick wifes.. chagrin). Bravo!! It was like a kick ass war movie that lasted for days. absolutely brilliant. Now I know what a professional gamer is!!

Wolfpack, I was the weapons officer on a Permit class sub during the cold war. I would have loved to take on the Moskva one on one. We said, they had 'Helen Keller' sonars. But good gameplay
The Moskva's sonar in particular was a really powerful one, especially as Soviet shipboard sonars went. If I remember right, it was pretty similar in capability to the SQS-26 most of our ASW assets used. A Permit that was specifically hunting a Moskva would have serious trouble getting through the Ka-25 screen and not getting picked up by the Moose Jaw, especially if the Moskva was somewhat aware and competently employed, even more so considering that it'd probably be pretty heavily escorted, being a flagship
Really liking the rundown of the class and its history before/during combat. It adds a lot.
I think that was mainly to make it clear that this is NOT the same Moskva that was sunk by Ukraine.
My father served three years in "Leningrad", on the hands of the photo album "Memory of service in the Navy."
There was originally 20 of this class planned but like you said with Poseidon sub launched continental missiles their range with helos was totally inadequate to counter them. Hence why the later Kara ASW cruiser and with the Kiev cruiser/carrier hybrids was built and brought out in the mid to late 70's.
There also was another reason the Moskva and Kiev class looked the way they did with the whole hybrid cruiser and carrier builds, and it had to do with a treaty signed by Turkey and the USSR in the late 20's. That forbade the USSR from building battle ships and carriers in the Black Sea and allowing them to navigate the Bosphorus. But cruisers was fine.
A cool history lesson at the beginning! I didn't know any of that.
This game missed hard on multiplayer functionality. Can you IMAGINE how fun it would have been if this game was played by Wolfpack, Jive, Jingles, and FPSChazly?! 😺😺😺 2v2 or for some challenge it could be 3v1. 3 surface ships hunting Jive in a submarine would have been awesome and the collabs would have driven traffic to everyone's channels.

You masterfully play the "waiting game". After every action you patiently wait for new variables according to the results. That's how most elite commanders (or surviving ones from active war zones) tend to be. No overreaction, just the appropriate tool chosen for the job. Marvellous.

PLEEEEEEEEASE do more Cold Waters surface combat. Kirov, Kiev, and anything super interesting. The other guy who does it, OpFor, his videos are boring coz he doesn't have commentary. Your videos are always super entertaining, and you clearly play on a much higher difficulty than him too. Keep up the fantastic work, your channel is awesome.
I wonder if dot mod could add turning drag to all ships and weapons. This would make combat way more realistic, no knucklefest against torps possible anymore.

The graphics are really nice. It just breaks my heart that we won't get a new Silent Hunter game. With all the calculations to make hits, you being constricted to the sub as if you are really there, not arcady like the new one.
To be fair, a lot of people probably find that kind of game too hard. Proper hard sim games are a bit niche.

Hey wolfpack, you seem to be a good person to go to with this, I have cold waters on my gaming laptop and i want to get Dotmod, but no matter what I do it just doesn't work, I've looked on my computer for everything that it says should be there on the install, but it isn't working. My laptop is a MSI running windows 11 just in case that matters.
Anyway, good video, love the Moskva helo carriers.
