What a fantastic video and interesting experiences you had with President Carter! I was born in 1959 and I was a senior in 1977. I’m a life long Democrat but have always been interested in past Presidents, no matter what party. I’ve seen Ford and Clinton in person. I also had a funny experience when Obama was running the 2nd time. I live in Iowa and he came for a visit. Didn’t think much about it until one day when something weird happened . I worked in Des Moines and had an appointment with time to kill. I decided to stop at Water Works Park and get out in this huge open grass area and go for a walk. It was a beautiful day and no one was around because it was a weekday. Well all of a sudden I hear a helicopter and I swear it was flying so low over me I thought it was going to land. I look up and it was Marine One with Obama! It scared the crap out of me! Anyway, the people inside were all waving at me so I waved back. It was actually pretty cool. I didn’t tell anyone because no one would have believed me. LOL. 😂 Thank you for sharing this great story. I always wanted to attend one of Jimmy’s Sunday school classes that he taught. What an extraordinary life and an extraordinary man.
Jeff- thank you for sharing. I got to meet Jimmy Carter once at a book signing event in Raleigh NC. This was probably 30 years ago but I remember it so well. Rules of the signing were strict because there were so many people attending and they wanted to be sure everyone got their book signed before he had to leave. We were told we couldn't take photos of him, we couldn't shake his hand, and we weren't allowed to speak to him. A few minutes prior to the start of the event, I happened to be at the back of the store when a door opened and out stepped Jimmy Carter with two Secret Service men. As he was walking by, he gave me that famous smile, shook my hand, and told me he was glad I had come to the event. That was one of the special moments in my life I was in the right place at just the right time.
Yeah like I said, not the greatest era of presidential accomplishments. Gas lines were long, there was malaise, interest rates were high and he was weak with the Iranian hostage situation. But his intentions were good.
Jeff, thanks for sharing your memories of President Carter. He was a decent man who lived a good Christian life and taught us and showed us about humanity. I look forward to seeing a Plains, GA video in the future.
I’m Canadian and I was only 5 years old at the time, but I remember his inauguration and he was the first President of the United States that I ever really knew. I always liked him the best. I remember 1976, because my favorite grandfather past away that year and the other one in 1977.
Wow Jeff !!! What wonderful memories of Jimmy Carter and you really did go the extra mile to see and meet him. All the memorabilia and signed photos and articles were most impressive. Carter was a decent and honest man who lived by his convictions his whole life. Great story and I did note you were a bit emotional towards the end and I was also. Hope your New Year is wonderful.
I met President Carter and First Lady Rosalynn back in 2001 at their church in Plains, I had my three girls with me at the time, they were very pleasant and patient with everyone who wanted a photo with them. And you are right he had very soft hands!
President Carter had a lot of class, as did his wife. He lived to be 100. Wonderful! It's great you got to be on-hand at his inauguration. Awesome! Thank you for sharing it with us. I got to shake President Ford's hand. It was very firm and strong.
Jeff I enjoyed this video. Thank you for sharing your personal memories. President Jimmy Carter was a good man. He was sincere~ I believe he truly wanted to (help) make this world a better place. Happy New Year Jeff, Sarah and family.🙏 ✝️
That's so awesome Jeff I'm so glad you had that time in your life and actually got to meet Jimmy Carter and shake he's hand. I voted for him has well. He was an outstanding president of he's time loved hearing you're story really enjoyed it blessings for you and Sarah in 2025 I left you guy's up everyday in my prayers 🙏

Great heartfelt video. I love your passion and the fact that you did these things at such an early age. Your autograph collection from what you shared must be fantastic. Mike is mostly sports with a touch of hollywood. Will you attend the memorial on Jan 6th ?
Despite his failed presidency, one must note that Carter never cashed in on his stint in office after his term was through. He did an admirable job giving back to the society that bestowed on him his lofty, presidential title. Nice tribute, Jeff.
Thank you for giving President Carter this rememberence. He was a great American! My wife and I went to Plains, Georgia last spring. It was a great trip. We saw the farm he was born and raised on. You should go there sometime. Thank you for all you do.
President Carter was not an effective leader of this country, but he was the finest Statesman this country has ever had. The work he did on a global level and the integrity from which he never strayed showed the true measure of the man. The PTB couldn't own him the way they have with everyone since, hence, they made him a side note for his entire term. I'm not in either party, I choose to be independent, but I have always had great respect for this man. Jeff, I continue to be amazed at the diligence with which you have pursued your hobby since childhood and the resulting synchronicities which allowed you such wonderful experiences and memories... and now make your videos such an authentic experience for your audience. Well done! Happy New Year to you and Sarah, and all who watch your channel. ❤
Jeff, what a beautiful and inspiring video this was! Truly enjoyed your narrative and pictures. Jimmy Carter was the first president I voted for. I only have two experiences with a U. S. President. In 1970 Richard Nixon came to our city. It was a big deal because we only had 65,000 at that time. I was 12 at the time. I took my two sisters, ages 2&4, in their stroller to watch the parade. In 1992 my hubby, my sister and I went to see Bill Clinton at a campaign stop at a farm. We were able to shake his hand. It was funny watching the bus with Clinton on and press navigating through a muddy driveway on the farm. The owner of the farm had a beautiful voice. Before Clinton left the farmer sang “My Sweet Irish Rose” and Clinton played the saxophone. Happy New Year to you and Sarah!
What an unexpected and wonderful video. Thank you. It seemed emotional for you. Wow, you got to go the inauguration! And got to see 5 presidents together! Great pictures. I'm sorry about your lost ticket. I wonder if it got lost in the shuffle when they open things at the White House. Your grandparents look like lovely people. President Carter was an honorable man.
I got to meet him also at a book signing in Glendale, Ca. Got two books signed and was able to shake his hand also! Afterwards I went to the underground parking and there he was with the Secret Service and me. Kind of odd to be so close with no one else around. GREAT PHOTOS JEFF
Thank you Jeff for this amazing tribute to a Godly President, a rare political combination! He had a big heart that lasted 100 years. Thanks for all your videos!
What a wonderful video. It's hard to imagine the excitement and honor you felt being able to attend all the events. I could see in your face and hear in your voice the depth of emotion you felt doing this video. No, Carter wasn't the best president but I have come to realize what a decent human being he was. That's pretty rare these days. Thank you for a very touching video - very much enjoyed watching.
Happy New Year to you and Sarah and family.....all the best in 2025..... awesome you met him four times .... he seemed very nice and smart.... Deborah 🇨🇦🙏❤️
Thanks for sharing your memories and collectibles of Jimmy Carter. I agree there were more successful Presidents, but none were better persons than he was. R.I.P. Jimmy Carter.
Beautifully heart felt. Have you seen the UA-cam video on the wood President Carter grew and upon it's maturity was made into a guitar for him by a luthier? It's on a 12 News UA-cam video with the following title-"Queen Creek man recalls making guitar for Jimmy Carter out of wood from tree Carter planted"
Thanks for your videos. They are always very positive, which is kind of lacking these days. Jimmy Carter was a real human being. Maybe his presidency was less than successful. I cannot think of a president , in my lifetime (and I am in my 70's) whose presidency was actually successful. I guess that's the nature of democracy. Too bad. Time we stopped constantly battling each other, in this country, and join together. Too much to hope for?
Thank you Jeff for this history episode, Jimmy Carter always gave me the feeling and vibe that he was a genuine human with that being said may god rest his soul I'm sure he did a lot of good things for humanity.
Thank you, so much, Jeff... This video of former President Carter came straight from your heart. I think that was obvious. Thank you for sharing all of this with us. 🏡🙏🏻🌆🧡
Jeff that is really a great story and those are fantastic pics you took. I know how hard it is as I tried the same in 88 when President Bush visited YgnacioValley HS in Concord,CA and again in 96 with Pres. Clinton and VP Gore’s visit. The limo flies by and I had of course a basic camera. I got half the car with Pres Bush and I got a blurry Clinton limo pic hahaha.
Jimmy Carter will be remembered as the President of the USA. Plus the most notable thing is that he is still the best person to help humanitarian relief efforts to help the people who needed community support too.
Very cool Jeff! That is amazing that you got to go to DC for the inauguration. I got the honor to attend the inauguration and inaugural ball in 2001 it was an unforgettable experience. I’ve never been to the Reagan library but now that I’m retired I’m going to plan a trip out west to go. It’s definitely on my bucket list.
Two things: 1st; My Mom sung a song on cassette in sent it and received an invitation also. How times have change. Next; I was an airman at Hickam AFB on traffic control. A midnight lonely post after he landed, he entered the roadway passing by me. I popped my best salute, as he drove by, he gave me wave of his hand. Never forgot.
Happy new year! To do justly, love mercy, and walk humbly before thy God. I wrote this verse on the front page of my Bible, what seems like a lifetime ago. So easy to love thy neighbor as thyself. Thanks for the share. Peace.
@@jbenziggy Jimmy Carter may not have been the strongest president, but he was an exceptional humanitarian. He did a lot of good for our country and the world. If people can't get past his politics, that's their loss.
Cool! I didn't have to wait for Sunday to watch one of your videos. I have a Habitat for Humanity book personally autographed by President Carter in 1994!
1980 was my first opportunity to vote(I turned 18 June 1977)and I was all for Ronald Reagan. In the Presidential debate(s) I remember Reagan responding to Carter "there you go again..."😂 I so respected and admired Reagan, I was proud to cast my vote for him. That's really something I can't say about any other candidate I have voted for since(sans voting for him again in "84". 1980, gas prices and the Iranian hostage crisis. I guess history hasn't changed all that much, only the names and the places have changed.🤔 No Doubt, your personal contact with president Carter is a very cool, once in a life time experience.👍🏼
That's a very nice tribute, Jeff. I can see why his presidency meant so much to you. He was a man of character. Interestingly enough, I voted for Reagan in 1980, my first time voting. I guess you and I cancelled each other out. 😂
Those are such good photos you took, Jeff. Waiting for pictures from the store is something I did a lot, too! Do you still have your high school camera? Memorable times and I am so glad you shared them. Thank you.
Actually Millard and Linda Fuller were the founders of Habitat. The International Headquarters are in Americus, Georgia which is about 15 min from Plains. As a volunteer at the Headquarters as Millard’s volunteer administrative assistant I was blessed to work with Millard and met Pres Carter on various occasions. He was a genuinely kind man and a wonderful teacher at his Bible Studies. He knew the Bible and related it to how he lived his life very well.
Great memories I'm sure Jeff. He was president through some of the toughest of times with mixed results, but you can never argue with where his heart was. An honorable, decent man for sure.
This was the most moving and personal tribute I've watched from you. What memories do is stir up the emotions we felt at the time to re-live them but now with a much stronger impact. Thank you Jeff for sharing this from your heart ❤
In 1979. my HS A Capella choir was invited to DC from Oregon, to compete in an international singing competition. While there, we got to sign at Carter's church, built in the 1700's. It had a pipe organ that was so loud, we thought the building would crumble. We couldn't hear ourselves and I don't know how the church-goers did either. Unfortunately, Carter didn't make it to church that day. He was busy at Camp David, probably with the Middle East talks.
Super sweet memories. I really enjoyed hearing them. I saw Christmas Vacation a few days ago; recall president Ford being so tall that he would crack his head on everything (getting off the presidential helicopter ect)? And Chevy Chase would do head cracking skits of him on SNL.
Not the greatest president in our history, but probably one of the greatest men to serve in that office. It's sad that decency and integrity is so rare in our politics. RIP
Enjoyed the video. I was born in 1960 and at the time you went to DC to see JC’s inauguration I could not have told you who the POTUS was. At that point in my life I had tunnel vision and my world was very small. Would be interested to know how you came to be interested in collecting autographs, memorabilia and attending presidential events. I enjoy your talents and as I have aged have come to appreciate other’s differences much more. That said, I am curious as to how you formed these interests at such a early point in your life. Maybe other viewers wonder too?
Best post-President we ever had and TBH I think his Presidency gets unnecessary flak. It wasn’t a good time but he, like a lot of Presidents, gets the blame for stuff that happened when he shouldn’t
Thanks for sharing with us your thoughts on Jimmy Carter. He was a great humanitarian.
I think so too!

That was his gift. Not a great president but an amazing humanitarian.
He's was a very humble and kind man.
This was very good. I liked him. Keep up the excellent work sir. Your one of the best out there u tube, I enjoy your videos thankyou.
Thank you very much! I appreciate your kind words, James!
Thanks for sharing, Jeff he was a great Humanitian
In 1979. my HS A Capella choir was invited to DC from Oregon, to compete in an international singing competition.
RIP
That's some great memories, thanks for sharing.
You bet, thanks for watching! How is the road treating you?
I agree!
Thanks! Jeff
You’re welcome! Glad you liked it!
Thank you for doing your show on jimmy
Jimmy Carter was the 39th president of the United States serving from January 20, 1977 to January 20, 1981.
So cool. I'm proud of you.
