The only prog band to make it in the early 80’s was Marrillion, IQ didn’t have the singles, but they were a close 2nd ! And their still with the original singer after one split and still proging away, says a lot, Marillion lost their sound when fish was sacked! IQ and Pendragon still good.
Wow, so cool to see fans for the early days still listening. I started listening to them 10 years ago I think, and I just love this band. There is something about their music and sound that captivates me.
Steven Wilson, Anglagard, Big Big Train, Echolyn, Haken, Ayeron,... now IQ. In these last couple of years something we've been spoiled with some fuckin' great music! Are we witnessing the revival of prog?
Prog never went away. Its light may have shone less brightly for a while due to monopolistic music corps but now that artists have the power in their own hands to let their audience find them, people who strayed are finding them once again and wondering why they left.
No revival for there was no death. In fact, most of the bands you've mentioned are already 25 years old on average. IQ will soon turn 35. That just means how much media attention had been artificially turned away from progressive rock.
This is a simply stunning track......I can imagine it playing along with the closing credits of those grim Scandinavian serial killer dramas. I saw it played live in a small venue from the front row. Peter Nichols looked me straight in the eye and pointed with a white surgical glove on his hand.....”The dumb shock of reaction’s what it’s for........” It was absolutely chilling!!!!
I know it's 8 years late, but I really hope you went into that wild ride that is finding a new band. I know I loved finding these guys probably 15 or so years ago
This is one of the top prog albums ever, everything a prog fan could ask for. I just recently found IQ, sorry I was so late to the party. What an awesome band, I now have all of Peter Nichols albums,(paid for!) on my PC. Wonderful stuff!
An absolutely fantastic song and album by one of the best prog bands around - great 'haunting' music - guitar riffs, keyboard's, bass and, last but not least, some intricate drum fills, just awe inspiring.
Now in my top 5 rock albums of all time. Epic lyrics melded perfectly with the instrumentals, every song an absolute gem, fantastic musicianship that is there only to serve the songs, incredible composition. How they're not a household name is beyond me. Perfection!
@@rodsagredo Genesis - Foxtrot, Yes - Close to the Edge, Pink Floyd - Wish You Were Here, King Crimson - Discipline (although Dark Matter by IQ might be in there too)
Absolutely, ridiculously beautiful! Such deep, powerful and provocative music. What a transition 6:00min in. Incredible. Can't wait for the album. So happy.
Been a long time fan of IQ. Even when they tried towards a more commercial sound in the later 80's, there were songs that would nail the mind. This album sits nicely with their other dark album 'Dark Matter'. Fantastic Band. Glad they're still around! 👍
2020 and I just started getting into this band. SMH 🤦♂️ How did I miss these guys!? Well, my journey begins now. I am loving RoB and Resistance right now!
Terrific progressive rock band. I have listened all of their albums since the beginning and each that passes by IQ gets better an better. IQ lives for ever.
I've been following IQ now since 1983 and they never cease to amaze. If this track is anything to go by, we are in for a real treat when the album comes out!
This album is a masterpiece, the title song is a lesson in modern progressive rock. The lyrics, the restraint, ... and then they turn it on ... first hit on a crash cymbal at 5:55! This song has no weakness.
And morning finds my night's work Lights the remnants on display I do not seek forgiveness, nothing to absolve For now the need is met, I almost hate myself Almost but not quite They survey the frozen scene, the cold countenance of hell And they hang their heavy heads, I'm seen as death itself Fear that holds this fragile town extends for miles around I've taken all control for I am someone now The shadow cross my face, all the signs of my mistakes Shallow graves I mark with stones as I walk the road of bones We dance our unkind, compelling dance, the arcane ritual observed I will see this whole thing through if I just keep my nerve All the journeys I've retraced to return me to this place I do not walk alone as I build the road of bones Their dumb shock of reaction's what it's for Full of nothing and I won't be ignored They got sirens and all that nervous force They concede a good death's it's own reward The shadow cross my face, all the Futures laid to waste Shallow graves I mark with stones as I walk the road of bones
If you buy this album, be sure to get the box set/limited edition, because the bonus disc is as good as the main album, with tracks like Constellations, Ten Million Demons and Fall and Rise, which are amongst the best things they've ever done.
Amazing song by IQ. IQ is the best kept secret in music for the past few decades. So happy they still are writing new music, like Asia Strings said come to California, please.
This is such a great song, and yet so creepy. Serial killers work by compulsion. They often go back to the scene of the crime if not accessible by others as a form of power over their victims. Some are buried, some are under water. In the case of this song, they seem to be strewn all over a wooded area. Correct me if I'm wrong.
A great song and love the visuals here too, also love the atmosphere of this track and the way it builds throughout, will have to check out the other tracks from this album :-)
IQ And morning finds my night's work Lights the remnants on display I do not seek forgiveness Nothing to absolve For now the need is met I almost hate myself Almost... This is brilliant. It should be the opening track to a James Bond movie. Or if the words were changed slightly it would fit in perfectly in Game of Thrones.
This is the darkest track IQ have ever released, being written from the viewpoint of a serial killer! It is also one of the best things they (or anyone else for that matter) have ever done. Amazing.
The Kolyma Highway in Russia is also known as the 'Road of Bones', because the skeletons of the forced laborers who died during its construction were used in many of its foundations. The lyrics seem to fit this narrative as well.
I've taken all control, for I am someone now. The shadow crossed my face All the signs of my mistakes, Shallow graves I mark with stones As I walk for the road of bones
Such a masterpiece of a song, this whole album is one of my all time favorites, Without Walls transcends.
I must be dreaming... It's time the whole world knows IQ.
Yes they are an Amazing and hugely talented Band. Equal to YES, Genesis, and Marillion. The World don't know what they are missing!

Interesting. I love this song. Been listening to this one song for years. Time to explore.
Have you listened to Mystery? Fantastic Canadian Prog band.
I lost a loved one and this song is soothing the pain.
Great.....I am 60 years old now. I was 23 when I bought there first album.
Dan heeft u vast een mooie muziek verzameling!

we always got hope for more REAL MUSICIANS
You forgot Devin Townsend :)
as this guy said: prog never went away. only the listeners.
This is a simply stunning track......I can imagine it playing along with the closing credits of those grim Scandinavian serial killer dramas.

Same ....and same!❤

Exactly how I like my IQ - dark an heavy

Have you ever been to Spodek Arena in Katowice, Poland? Very nice venue but the food is awful!! 😂
Greatest band EVER!!!
Absolutely, ridiculously beautiful! Such deep, powerful and provocative music. What a transition 6:00min in. Incredible. Can't wait for the album. So happy.
That makes me think about Arena, but in better!

Fantastic Band. Glad they're still around! 👍
witeskyn7, same here, i followed them to the Marquee in early 80’s and refocused on them when Nichols rejoined in early 90’s.
2020 and I just started getting into this band. SMH 🤦♂️ How did I miss these guys!? Well, my journey begins now.
I am loving RoB and Resistance right now!
The Wake, Subterranea, Dark Matter
The holy trinity of IQ. Masterpieces.
One of the very best albums I've ever heard from all times. Wish to hear you asap in France ! I love this band.
The entire album is beautiful! If you love prog, you're going to love this. The best IQ album so far!

Amazing song by IQ. IQ is the best kept secret in music for the past few decades. So happy they still are writing new music, like Asia Strings said come to California, please.
I was directed to this in relation to my elemental spirits books, very interesting imagery and love the singer's voice!
So great song, it's just blew my mind, incredible band..This record should be infant prog collection
This is pure IQ, I love it :)
Great music gif me peace.
One of the best songs of the world.
Breathtaking, opens a wide promise for the new album!
I love this voice and the great sound
nice
Best song I've heard in the past 3 years. For whatever reason every time I listen to it, I think of Taboo TV series...
I.Q at their very best. Could be the soundtrack to a film in the same vein this could. Can't wait for the new album September 2019. Keep rocking guys
Subtle, yet so powerful. Brilliant!!
just found out about that band and wow ...
lol they already play for 36 years......wel better late then never...
best 2014 album so far.
Better than Subterrenea?
killroyhere unfortunately I have not heard Subterranea, but after this album and Frequency'm more than willing to meet the rest of their discography.
killroyhere Subterranea is not from 2014........... he said "best album from 2014" !!! And Vinicius is right...Great album.
I realized I misinterpreted the question 1 second after I posted.
Saw IQ at ProgStock 2019 they were rather amazing
One of my alltime faves! Simply great!
Hauntingly beautiful...fantastic...I only caught onto this group a short time ago but I am ALL IN now...the segue at 6:00 minutes is epic...

The Kolyma Highway in Russia is also known as the 'Road of Bones', because the skeletons of the forced laborers who died during its construction were used in many of its foundations. The lyrics seem to fit this narrative as well.
Mike Holmes said in an interview that the serial killer interpretation is correct.
