Sandi, it brought me so much joy to watch your open the pigment cigars and to begin to explore them! You inspire so many and thank you for all of the ways you share your process and techniques so freely! Your joy is contagious!
My set of 8 colors just arrived. I'm beyond thrilled. Beautiful packaging. Already thinking about my second order. Thanks to you for the discount and to Sandi for showing them at their best!
I had no idea these existed!!! I've been a pastelist for years and I have changed to silk painting 9 years ago. I still yearn for the messy hands and beautiful colors, lol. Gorgeous set!
Sandi. I am overjoyed that Jeanne Oliver was so generous with you. I spent 14 years creating and building and running an art studio and instruction program for artists with developmental disabilities. I've mentored so many other artists. Artists in the studio and the artists I hired to mentor them. But I never had time to really focus on my own art. I left that position, the program, and the artists, at the beginning of 2020, to start my own journey and identity as an artist, and then bam, pandemic. I recognize a challenge from a greater spirit than my own, to hang tight, when I see it. I'm strong. Bring it on! But, I found myself lost, art-wise, wanting to move away from the tight, realistic work in oils I had been in, allowing myself to paint as I feel, without ego and self-consciousness. And then I found your channel. My style and subject matter are different. But, YOU, your channel, and your work, have had a strong influence on helping me move forward. So, I am overjoyed to see you receiving blessings from others, as you have bestowed blessings on me. Thank you, Sandi.
That stick looks like a Santo Palo wood stick which contains its own natural oils to help relax and relieve stress. As well as the white sage that was attached! wow what a gift! so so so generous My cat is wondering why Im making so many whoa and wow sounds! Im so loving it ….that blue you like reminds me of a blue jean color! the dust or shavings I would put in water! so precious…good for you! love the paintings at the campground ..so beautiful Sandi…
Palo Santo has a beautiful scent when you light it and it is used for youe own private ritual with your art - around yoh and aroubd your art- it smells beautiful and it wi help you relax
Shout out to Rebecca Wallace and Pip Seymour, the artists and makers behind these ancient drawing materials. So glad to see Jeanne is one of their official distributors in the US. They handpick pigments, especially historical one, which are very sought after by restoration and conservation professionals. I use their watercolours and got some dry pigments in one of my UK trips. They deserve all the praise Sandi gives to their art materials. They have a very special work ethic and it shows in their materials. Search for their name to see their pure pigments in rock format still. They are amazing!!! Thanks for showcasing their materials. Can't wait to see what you create with them!
This Nashville pastel artist is drooling… even though I have pastels in every imaginable hue, value, and texture. My palette box is a wonder to behold. The funny thing is the first thing I do when I get a new pastel is break it. People are horrified when I do it given how expensive they are. But it must be done. And it’s easy enough to put shattered pigment back together.
You are so Blessed. Enjoy. The colors are so yummy, I may just have to pick up a couple as a treat. ❤️ I am glad that Coop is still with you. I had to let Emma go on her journey. I told her to meet me at the Rainbow Bridge.
Wow, these are so natural! Lovely colours. I recommend using Pastelmat for soft pastels. You won't have that much dust. You can rub the dust into the paper instead of throwing it (basically the pigment) into the bin. Pastelmat was a game changer for me.
I'm so glad you're back sharing your art. You do look rested and ready to create. Those Jeanne Oliver pastels are beautiful. I love the soft colors, they are earthy and organic, great for scenery artworks. I can't wait to see what you do with them. Loved your excitement, you're just too funny in a wonderful way. Enjoy your new pastels!!! 😊😉
Oh what a wonderful gift! I ordered a few before your video was over! The pastels would be a wonderful decoration sitting in a wooden bowl. Love your channel!
Thank you for a new video! So inspiring! Love the ducks🦆 and all the art from your trip, maybe my fave is the pond with “the works” near the end, but all great. Loved the swatching! Pigment nerd here, so I was in heaven! (Grady might not get it😆 but you know we love it). So glad to see cooper having such a good time❤️. It’s great ya’ll know to appreciate him while you’ve got him, what a handsome and sweet guy.💛💛💛
Amazing video. The paintings you did on your trip were all gorgeous. My favorite was the last one you showed that you said you had wanted to do more to, but i thought it was just so great. The storm clouds in that one are fantastic.
I've now watched all your videos from the very beginning and they are all worth rewatching! I feel kinda like I'm getting out of the cinema after watching a documentary about an amazing artist. That's basically what I did. Thank you so much, Sandi, for your channel, for sharing your art, for all the inspiration and laughter. Can't wait to see your next video.
Wow Sandi, I love the work you did on your camping trip. Absolutely beautiful. I love the one in the sketchbook dated 27 May 2022 with the fallen tree. I've got a thing for fallen trees also. And boats. Now my fallen trees seem to be landing on my boats in my drawings and paintings! My birthday is on 27 May so it was even more lovely to see such a beautiful picture on my birthday day! I love your art x
Oh my goodness! I'm just now watching as I've been out of town in an area without internet, then returned to an extremely busy week at work. I've seen those pastels on Jeanne's website and drooled over them for sure. They appear even more luscious than I thought. I'm glad you had a refreshing trip and good to see Cooper doing better.
I enjoy using Golden's airbrush medium instead of water with soft pastels. It extends the gradient wash and the colors glow. The high flow medium might work well too. Have some on the way to try. Cheers NZ
The ducks are so dandy, and the skies on the landscapes are so beautiful and evocative. Santo Palo wood sticks are used like sage smudge for clearing energy, I love it. Thanks for sharing.💞💜
I'm so happy to see a new video but also really happy you could take some time off to create and play, I think I was just as excited as you when you were trying those colors!!! and they look so beautiful wet! so many options! they are truly amazing. Such a good gift, I enjoy watching you enjoy them hahaha. Hugs
My dear Sandy. The stick of tree is Palo Santo you light it as inciense and dissolve bad energíes and inspire you and enjoy your amazing paintings. Greetings from Uruguay. You are lovely!!!
Jeanne has been soooo kind with her 🎁 beautiful gifts for you Sandi the sketchbooks were absolutely 💯 beautiful I'm glad Cooper is feeling better I loved your top too you're going to enjoy the art supplies and make beautiful pieces of artwork incorporating them into your style thanks for sharing and welcome back
I loved your ducks 🦆as well as the paintings depicting the lake. I never tire looking at your scrapbook paintings. Those pastels are really nice. It was generous and kind of Jeanne to send you a set. Glad you enjoyed your holiday and feel rested. Thank you for another great vlog 🪷
it all looks so gorgeous. I am resisting the temptation but the drawing material may get me. lol. side note: I told my family I was putting on my headphones to watch you and my baby came up and said "I like Sandi" lol. your videos bring our whole family such joy.
A double treat video between the gorgeous pastels and the camping trip. Many of the camping pictures made my heart sing, which I'm learning (from you) is what it's all about. Good to see Grady and Cooper too.
As always, i look forward to your Friday videos. So happy for you re: art haul! I enjoy seeing what you have been working on the most. Just love your style. Thank you, Sandi! Hugs & kisses to Cooper.
Wow the pastels looks so cool. Looks like they pulled clay from the ground to make them. The Palo Santo stick is another version of sage. Helps to bring the good energy into your space.
Your pastel work is gorgeous! Perhaps you will think about doing some large paintings? Loved “Whistling Duck”, and the landscapes done in your big book, and also the sheets of paper from the camping trip. I’m sorry I’m watching this for 1st time now…. Wonderful
I am so glad you are back. Those pastels are beautiful. I love the very last sketch. You look so much more relaxed. I am so glad that Cooper is more comfortable. Have a great week. ♥️

Lovely pastels…what a great and special gift from your friend….cha ching cha ching! It’s nice to know though, that there are so many fabulous art supplies and brands out there from the very affordable to the mid-range to the “it’s HOW much?” that most of us out there in YT Land can purchase supplies that we love and that will perform beautifully for us…and that won’t break the bank. Thanks for sharing these luxurious ones with us! And glad you got a good break and painted like a “maniac” and so sweet that Cooper got to go with you too. I hope it won’t be his last. ❤
So glad you had a relaxing camping trip…camping is awesome. As always it’s fun to see how you play with your art. Also, thanks for introducing me to Jeanne Oliver and her for the discount code… I placed an order from her site and am excitedly awaiting its arrival 😀
Wow! It is great to see the Wallace and Seymour brand finally available in the states. Please look at their whole philosophy and range of products. Their vintage watercolor lines try to reproduce the colors of earlier centuries (18th c. discs or tubes). I love these pastel sticks and have never seen them offered. I usually go for the less expensive raw forms the W/S team sells in jars. I think they handpick them.. The 100 ml jar of raw stones start at $6 outside the US. The discount makes some of Oliver's items more reasonable if you want to pay several times over for convenience. Thanks. Excited to buy a few things.
Awesome Sandi. i love Jeanne . I have taken a few of her courses. Sage and Pablo Santo .. Its great for clean sing your space. I loved seeing Cooper , I am so happy he got to go camping with you guys. Sending love and hugs from sunny hot North Carolina.
My new morning routine is watching you and sketching in one of my books...and noting beautiful supplies I want. I need these pigment cigars! Already visited Jeanne's website !
Hand rolled pastels. So YUMMY!!! I really liked how they acted when wet and that you can go over them again. All the classes I've ever taken we have never wet them down. You have so much layering capability. Finally if you did not notice. The "green" near the inside center line on the right side shifted color when you wet it showing more of the blue undertone. And just the natural tone of the set is to beautiful. To rich for me but i would pick the pink, 1 of the greys and the sheer green/white as starters to complement a set i already use. Wish list. Sending Cooper 💋.
Soft pastels have never appealed to me in the least, therefore I don't know anything about them.....when you put water on the swatches......OH MY FREEKIN GOODNESS. GORGEOUS. Welcome back and thank you for this video. Kiss Cooper.🥰
What an amazing gift 😍 the pastels look amazing!! I love pastels and I may have to get a small, small color palette. Happy to hear that your trip was refreshing and that Coop was able to enjoy it with you. ❤️ welcome back!
@@sandihester I will definitely watch your upcoming videos, I never miss a video 😊 I have 2 sets of pastels, one is the cheap brand (the same as yours) and the other is like a mid-level brand. But I'm really curious about trying the large chunky pastels. So I'll be watching for more of your thoughts. Take care!
I bought some Ancient Drawing Materials drawing blocks and love how they glow on the page (especially Burnt Sienna and Puisaye yellow ochre). Just used the discount code to order a few more. I have a new saying when I order art supplies: "Sandi made me get it!" I am enjoying sketching with the Derwent drawing pencils I saw in one of your videos.
@@sandihester Knowing how you love to do still life. I looked at the shapes and colors. I think they would work well both as part of your subject as well as as how you use your media.
What a gorgeous, gorgeous gift! Years ago I attended a workshop on making your own pastels, and we could create whatever size sticks we wanted. They have lasted forever and I made them really really big. You can save all the savings over time, wet and mix them and create your own sticks from the remainders. What beautiful colors! ***I went right to the website planning to order. I could not find ANY of the products. I clicked on 'pastels' and it brought nothing up. I wrote in 'Italian pastels' in the search bar and it brought nothing up. I have written to the company asking for how I can see and order a list of the pastels and hope to hear back soon. Frustrating!
It took me a while to find it earlier today. On the far right of Jeanne's site are 3 lines with MORE on it. They are under Store; Shop; Art supplies; down in the middle of the page it is then Shop art supplies & necessities now; and they are in the top row. It does seem a bit convoluted but I think her emphasis is mainly on classes. :D
@@sandihester Thanks Sandi. It is just not a very functional web page but with some other viewers' help, I was able to find the drawing rocks, which were less expensive and which were the ones I was most interested in! x
Ohhh I loved these pigment sticks so much until I went to the website and saw the price...😳 Definitely out of my budget lol, but I will enjoy watching you work with them in future videos! ☺️
Hi, I am very fond of Tales Rembrandt Soft Pastels. The colors are in many shades. The cost affordable, and the colors lay down very nice. Please try them out. 🎨

What an amazing gift 😍 the pastels look amazing!! I love pastels and I may have to get a small, small color palette. Happy to hear that your trip was refreshing and that Coop was able to enjoy it with you. ❤️ welcome back!
They’re amazing! I’m also loving the cheaper brands I got to do you may want to watch the upcoming videos to make an informed decision
Take care!
I looove your ducks they are so cuuute :) Im glad you guys had a great time camping ☀️
Thank you!
Super fun video!! Thanks for sharing your world with me
So glad you enjoyed it!
Love the skies you sketched! Beautiful! I was cracking up at the struggle of trying to hold down the papers with sticks! 😂 #pleinairproblems
For sure pleinair problems 😂. The struggle is part of the fun!
Such a fun vid! Great haul, drool-worthy swatches, beautiful Sandi art, pissed off ducks… lovin’ this!!!
😂 your comment cracked me up!
So glad Cooper is OK : ))
❤️
I bought some Ancient Drawing Materials drawing blocks and love how they glow on the page (especially Burnt Sienna and Puisaye yellow ochre). Just used the discount code to order a few more. I have a new saying when I order art supplies: "Sandi made me get it!" I am enjoying sketching with the Derwent drawing pencils I saw in one of your videos.
😂 that’s so funny! I’ll take the blame!
I like your paintings very much, some very loose , the ducks too and the colors of those pastels are super nice. Nice video Sandi !!!!
Thank you!!
Those pastels are SO gorgeous 😃 and loved all of the sketches!
Thank you!!!
JUst the way you laid them out made me think still life.
Ohhhhhh!
@@sandihester Knowing how you love to do still life. I looked at the shapes and colors. I think they would work well both as part of your subject as well as as how you use your media.
Thank you for trying all the shades, I looked at Jeanne Oliver's website and those pastels are costly. Now I know which ones to choose :)
They are costly but I’m glad the video could help you pick!
i love you and all the art you do- thank you!!
Thank you!!!
Sandi, those colors are so delicious! Thanks for sharing.. Are you doing any online classes this summer?
I am! It will be launched and announced next week!
The feather is for your Palo Santo and bits of sage. You light it and fan with the feather to keep it lit. Finishing the video now. 😄
cigars - lovely mineral palette of colours.
Sandi - it is all wonderful…..and I love the Good Will 👚! I have to go back to Good Will!
Yes to the goodwill dress!!!!
I’d love to see you try these on pastel paper and if you use them with water do they set when dry?
I confess curiosity got the better of me as you kept mentioning how expensive those pastels are, so I looked them up, and I am absolutely shocked :(
What a beautiful friend what luv
Great video.
Weren’t you planning to use the Jean Oliver pastels on the camping trip. It’d be nice to see how they perform.
Love to Coops! ❤️
🥰
The stick is a Palo Santo stick. You light it on one end and enjoy the amazing smell of the smoke that is created.
What a gorgeous, gorgeous gift! Years ago I attended a workshop on making your own
pastels, and we could create whatever size sticks we wanted. They have lasted forever
and I made them really really big. You can save all the savings over time, wet and mix them and create your own sticks from the remainders. What beautiful colors!
***I went right to the website planning to order. I could not find ANY of the products.
I clicked on 'pastels' and it brought nothing up. I wrote in 'Italian pastels' in the search bar
and it brought nothing up. I have written to the company asking for how I can see and
order a list of the pastels and hope to hear back soon.
and the Drawing Pigments are further down the page.
So sorry you couldn’t find the pastels. I think you can get to them from her products page
@@sandihester Thanks Sandi. It is just not a very functional web page
but with some other viewers' help, I was able to find the drawing rocks, which were less expensive and which were the ones I was most interested in! x
Ohhh I loved these pigment sticks so much until I went to the website and saw the price...😳 Definitely out of my budget lol, but I will enjoy watching you work with them in future videos! ☺️
I’ll be sharing cheaper brands I’m trying soon!
Hi, I am very fond of Tales Rembrandt Soft Pastels. The colors are in many shades. The cost affordable, and the colors lay down very nice. Please try them out. 🎨
I’ve not tried that brand yet but I’ll check them out! I have several other brands I recently bought thiugh
So nice to have y'all back. Love your ducks! Also, what does Grady do when you are both out at a park or what have you?
He usually fishes or hikes
Save the dust and you can reconstitute into new pastels with water
🙌
