    Hopefully this comment will give additional context for some newer viewers, as I've noticed a few of the same questions.
    I really wish UA-cam had a feature to update published videos.
    1. "Was Deathwish really sampled? I think you're creating Police propaganda."
    Stewart Copeland and Ryan Beveridge worked together to create the soundtrack for Spyro: Year of the Dragon. It's music is by far the most loop-reliant of the original trilogy (which is not a bad thing!) Quite a few samples were taken from a pack titled "Unity DS-1." A sample in that pack is titled "N3 Hats" and it is unmistakably DEATHWISH. The sample is actually the same speed as the original recording of Deathwish. There are 3 other loops that also have a prefix of "N3" in their names, which are the tablas (also showcased in the video), the cut-up drums, and "Rez Band" which is the weird synth loop also used in the song for Spikes Arena. Please do your own research if you still do not believe that this is true, and I suggest finding a project called the Spyro Soundfont Collection if you love Spyro's music as much as I do.
    2. Spectrasonics Heart of Africa & The Police Derangements.
    Before Copeland scored Spyro the Dragon, he also worked on a number of other projects. Copeland has used his Kurzweil k2500 and various sound libraries (including many from Spectrasonics) in a lot of these soundtracks. At one point, Copeland was making a documentary for the Police, which included a lot of film that was shot from the band themselves. It's score includes mashups of Police songs, which Copeland called "derangements." At the time of me making this video, I didn't know about any other occurrences of Spyro instruments appearing in these special versions. For example, Spyro's frequently-used "MOTOWN B3" organ can be heard in the Derangement Version of 'Roxanne,' or "PERC MED" (percussion samples) and the whole Spectrasonics loop for Spyro 2's Summer Forest being used in the remix of 'Don't Stand so Close to Me.' If you are someone who is quite familiar with Spyro's music, I recommend you go listen to these derangement versions and you will undoubtedly hear some very familiar sounds. I recommend 'Demolition Man.'

    First time actually knowing about the deathwish sample

    I disagree that the Deathwish sample find isn't groundbreaking, at least personally. Ever since I've seen this I haven't stop thinking about how cool that is

      Yes, I've changed my mind on that after the fact I made this video. I got in contact with someone who says they found the exact modified Deathwish sample Stewart Copeland/Ryan Beveridge used from a sample pack with other drum loops. I wonder if Stewart heard it and said, "That's me!" or something like that. I don't know the pack name, though.

      it's from an incredibly obscure 2000s mac sampling software called "Unity DS-1", I'd like to think they knew what they were doing when they used that loop lol
      Great video btw man, the editing is super clean and I love the visualization of it all :D

    I need to play spyro 3
    I played a lot of spyro 2 and have been revisiting it, its great and is activating so many core memories. I had spyro 3 as well but never beat it. For whatever reason I got addicted to the skateboarding minigame and didn’t even care about the actual game anymore lol

      We don't need a Spyro 4, or another Skylanders, or Legend of Spyro Remastered... just make Spyro Skating. That will appease all of the fans. ;)

      I think this is the first time I've ever seen someone say this so I checked out both - I can definitely see the similarities but I'm not sure if I'd say it's a directly taken sample. Sounds inspired by it more like.

    It's not plagiarism because both are from the same musician. It can but be a try to make subliminal Police propaganda. Most classical musicians made the same trick, in a time where no Internet, no recorded music, no MTV, no radio existed, they could secretly use some fragments from their works and selling them to any King ready to pay a vast amount of Ducates in return.

    • @nevets5
      @nevets5  22 дні тому +8

      I never said it was plagiarism, just a cool fact. Actually, it was recently discovered that the drum loop Stewart or Ryan used (of Stewart’s playing) is from a sample pack they took other loops from. I wonder what Stewart thought when he heard it…

    • @SidAlienTV

      Lol.. what a wild thing to say
      Spyro the Dragon is not The Police propaganda.. Stewart is an honest musician, and worked on Spyro literally 2 decades after the police broke up. The two things aren't really contemporary to each other, the police didn't need subliminal advertiseming by this point lol.. what a deranged take honestly, UA-cam comments are hilarious
      And yea the video is a bit of a stretch. Like the single tom sample? And he didn't invent the drum roll.. idk, I can tell it's Stewart, but it's not really obvious in a few of these examples

    • @nevets5
      @nevets5  22 дні тому +6

      You’re semi-right! I did indeed stretch (time-stretch) the sample of Stewart’s Deathwish intro to fit the loop used in Agent 9! (couldn’t resist the opportunity to spin the comment) Even stranger, it appears Stewart and/or Ryan took it out of sample pack they were using at the time. Other Spyro fans found that one out, not me. Stewart has also shown to use his Kurzweil k2500 and Spectrasonics libraries for his other projects, around the same time. One of those being The Police - Derrangements.
