    What a great hat. I've been wanting one like this for years. Just finished making mine from three strands of wool held together, one strand being mohair on the outside layer, inside just merino. So warm and snuggly! Thank you.

    Loved this technique! My provisional CO didn’t seem to work? I don’t know what I did wrong? When I took out the crochet my live loops were kinda slanted looking? So the seam…doesn’t look great! Ugh! I did go through the back loop on the braid? But I did used a crochet hook to pull the loops? Maybe that’s what messed me up? More practice I guess? I did think why not just knit a longer tube section, then when you go to do the P CO, just work the inside crown then? I think my tension would be more even and the seem would be less noticeable. Obviously couldn’t do it with two colors? Well, I suppose you could, just change mid way up? I just think mine would hide that transition seam better? Till I get more practice with that provisional CO. Love your videos. Such awesome techniques!!! Thanks so much for sharing. Have to try the pink one next! 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼

    • @CrazyHandsKnitting
      @CrazyHandsKnitting  Рік тому +1

      You can definitely use 2 colors, and I will knit next beanie with 2 colors. I like the provisional CO and never tried anything else, so I can not compare. I know only that there will be no seam if you use provisional CO. Also you better pick up stitches thought the back ridge that is on the other side of chain. I have to think about easier method if you find this method hard. But it is very useful and I like to use it while knitting hoods

    • @faithandprovidence
      @faithandprovidence Рік тому +1

      @@CrazyHandsKnitting right, I did pick up through the back loop, but I went and checked your video and my loops were way slanted from left to right? It wasn’t a loop like on your video? I’ll have to make a small practice one to see how I messed up?! But it was such a great idea! Your videos and your techniques are super cool and I enjoy learning from you! Thanks for always helping us out here! 🥰

    • @CrazyHandsKnitting
      @CrazyHandsKnitting  Рік тому +2

      it is a little bit different back loop and back ridge. You can chain 10 and pick up7-8 stitches to check it again. Have you finished hat after all? Thank you for your warm comment ♥

    • @faithandprovidence
      @faithandprovidence Рік тому +1

      @@CrazyHandsKnitting yes I know that back loop behind the ‘braid’ of the chain. I will try like you said a little practice one and see if I can figure it out! I’m almost done with my beanie. I’m so excited to finish it because I want my needles for the next one! 🤣It will be better hopefully!!! I love this for a warmer beanie and I love stockinette stitch, so I think this is the perfect beanie!!! I did want to ask you, I just did a simple K8, K2tog(and so on…) stitch to finish my crown. Even though yours was prettier, I’m still a rookie at knitting. But for the ‘inner’ hat…the crown has to twist the other way? Right? So, would I do a right leaning decrease at the beginning…then K8 and so on? I don’t even know what the code is for a right leaning decrease? 😅This will be my practice beanie I guess cause it’s a mess. Hahahaha, but as soon as I figure it out, I want to bust some more out!!! 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼Thanks so much for all your help! You’re the sweetest!!! ❤️❤️❤️

      @@faithandprovidence You did a good job💪💪. I do not like long projects too and always want something new on my needles. And honestly this hat was not exception))) Regarding decreases i did them in the same way as for the first layer: firstly left leaning dec (SKPO) and after right leaning dec (k2tog). Please check written instruction on my blog, you can follow it even you have different number of stitches. I am with you all along the way!!!!!✋✋

    Can you guide how to calculate the number of stitches when knitting hats? Thank you

    • @CrazyHandsKnitting
      @CrazyHandsKnitting  Рік тому +3

      Hi! First of all you need to know your gauge. For example your gauge is 20 sts per 10 cm. Means 1 cm = 2 sts. For the head circumference 57 cm you will need: 57*2 =114 sts. I always subtract after 15% to make the hat fit even better. 114 -15% = 96.9 sts. Choose the nearest number that is divisible by 4. 96 sts is a perfect number here. Hope it helps you!

    If you wanted to knit it without the cuff, so it's flush against the head (not a slouchie), how long would you knit the initial section?

    • @CrazyHandsKnitting
      @CrazyHandsKnitting  6 місяців тому

      11-12 cm because the decreases part measures.about 7 cm. But it is better to measure right on the head

    5:44 I'm confused... Why do you slip the first stitch over? To prevent loose gap at joint? But didn't you cast on 80 stitches and need to keep even number but now you have odd?

    • @CrazyHandsKnitting
      @CrazyHandsKnitting  7 місяців тому +1

      It's invisible joining method. If you want to use it cast on one more extra stitch. 81. If you don't want cast on 80
