I hate online shopping because you cant feel the fabric and see how good the finish is. But the fact that stores are closing down means you have to now buy things online
I just ordered some pants and this is the exact problem I have with them. I was expecting joggers but they have the material of a rough pillowcase and I hate it
Uncomfortable shoes is something I will never EVER wear again after one unfortunate pair of boots in 2010 that gave me such awful bloody blisters I was ready to take them off and walk barefoot in November in Russia 😭
i love how she doesn't drag on and just really stays on topic. also her voice is super nice so it's easy to listen to her. thank you for the tips bethany!!
My biggest problem is too many going out to dinner/lunch/get togethers and not enough real day to day clothing. Just look kind of silly in the high heels, short skirt/tight pants and flashy top in the food store or vaccuming the house lol
You can use some of the flashy pieces with some “normal” clothes as you work on expanding that wardrobe. I do that sometimes. It can really elevate your look without going all out!
And I was never more grateful because my gram taught me how to sew, I've pocketed everything that didn't have them in my wardrobe : ) Learning how to insert your own pocket is worth its weight in gold!
Another protip is to look at the reviews to see if the clothing items are actually true to size! There have been size guides that are inaccurate or just the same for every clothing piece because the brand is lazy. Look at the reviews to see if your fellow shoppers have any advice to size up or down!
I love this video. Your advice is so helpful. One thing my cousin told me a long time ago is that if you don’t like a detail of an item when you try it on, it will always bother you (aside from tailoring). That’s helped me filter out choices when I shop.
This is so true. If I am the slightest bit unsure about a single small detail, I won't buy it. Things always look better when they aren't yours yet... If I don't love absolutely everything about it before buying, I'll dislike it after it's mine.
I got dressed up for a wedding a few years ago and made it from the motel room to my car in heels before turning around and changing into a pair of cute flats. I'm always thankful I work in agriculture and wear hiking boots to work most days but it means I really can't do heels any more. That white shirt is so pretty.
I too am so glad brands are making comfortable styling shoes! I broke my ankle few years ago haven’t been able to wear pumps style or skinny high heels ever since. Great video as always! Counting the days for your master class to start, beautiful lady 💕
I am with you! I sprained both my ankles within couple of years of of each other, plus my knuckle of my big toe on my left foot hurts terribly if I wear a heel or too pointy of a shoe. The days of a 3 inch stiletto, pointy shoe or boot are gone. 🥲
Wore the most painful strappy heels at a wedding a few weeks ago that gave me blisters on my heels and toes for both feet. As soon as I got home, I bought the same style from naturalizer and threw the other pair out. That was the best $120 I ever spent because I know I'll be wearing the new, cushioned heels for years.
What I like to do when trying on clothes is set a price in my head. Like "if this is less than $30 I will buy it." This helps set a price on how much its worth to you and works really well.
Agreed. I've honestly stopped buying and working with some brands only because they go too cheap on buttons compared to what they are charging for the pieces.
I've definitely regretted that too! Often times, I hate wasting the clothes I've bought though. Either I'll sell it on poshmark, or I'll buy quality complimentary buttons at Joanne's or online/Etsy. It definitely elevates your clothes and doesn't waste your clothing.
In my case, if i really love the item with cheap buttons, i buy the garment and also sturdy luxury looking buttons. And then sew them onto the clothes... i know it needs extra time money and effort for it..but i enjoy my life wearing the clothe i love😍
why did I just discover you? I'm following! I'm glad u mentioned warm and cold versions of colors! since I'm neutral leaning to warm I've always seen advices to wear yellows reds and greens but I never look good on them! I look better on burgundy, light green and navy blue!
You are so right about shoes being comfortable. I'm all about the block heel life and pretty much any regular heel in my closet doesn't get worn at all.
@@Dearlybethany thank you so much. Because of you I have come a long way in my personal style and have been able to express myself comfortably. I wish I could take your masterclass but I am a broke college student. But someday I will in the future 😅

What if you have weird proportions and not one pair of jeans will ever fit you correctly. If I look at a size chart and look at waist size I should be a size 27 but if I look at hips I should get a size 31
Hey Bethany something I’ve been thinking about is how to really buy and identify versatile pieces. I find that I’m always saying “oh if only this sleeve was longer” for one outfit and then “oh if only the neck line was different” in order for the outfit to be exactly the way I want. I’m curious to know how many black t shirts do you have? Do you have one for everything? Or do you have multiple ones with different neck lines and fits? I don’t see many people talking about these kinds of details when talking about building a versatile wardrobe, because there are times when the outfit only works with a crew neck tee but all I have is a v-neck tee - and it’s just like… well I guess I gotta go buy multiple t shirts 😭 which kind of defeats the purpose of having a well curated and thoughtful wardrobe This was a rant, I’m sorry haha but I wanted to express it since that’s a big issue for me I find 😂
Having diffrent t-shirts for diffrent circumstances is in my mind part of having a curated and well thought out wardrobe because as you’ve noticed diffrent fits and necklines are good for diffrent things however knowing which ones of those fits are making you shine and making you happy in your clothes thats key…
@@gaelle4328 you’re definitely right, I can just get fed up with feeling like I never have everything I need to dress the way I want. Like a particular t shirt can tick so many boxes, but then the one fault is that it doesn’t look nice tucked in, as an example. I find it difficult to find a piece that is 100% there. And when you combine this with other pieces that all have their own particular issue it just feels like a very impossible challenge to make a versatile wardrobe. I guess this is more theoretical but it explains a lot of my wardrobe stress 😂

I honestly find colour matching incredible difficult 😞 other than black, it seems impossible to match together pieces I have because they are always different tones and values of colour, even if they’re neutral. For example I prefer off-white and cream rather than bright white, which means I can never find things that actually match in colour. I have an incredible pair of cream trousers but I feel I can’t wear ANY tops with with it because nothing matches it or seems to compliment it. I think matching tops and bottoms in general is difficult because the cut and shape of pieces means I can’t necessarily wear everything with everything. Honestly just confused lol
Totally hear you! Just remember that when working with monochrome outfits the colors don't need to be exact matches. Similar color tones and values is completely fine and can work beautifully!
Okay so I love few styles and I don’t know which would suit me because I feel like I look awkward in everything because they are out of my comfort zone. What can I do? How can view myself objectively?
I used to collect buttons when I was 10 so if I get a top with ones that I don’t think look good, I’ll cut them off and sew on new ones from my collection. This also stopped me from giving away a top

@@Dearlybethany Yeah I gotta keep trying, I’m sure there’s more combos than I know
Love that you are honest and use your own examples, let’s all get out of middle school!
I love how educational your videos are, still keeping the fun part of fashion. Thank you ♥
