This is my favorite genre of music video - when a band is early in their career and shoots a behind the scenes video of them while everything is all still fun and magical. No big budget, no concept, no narrative, no problems. Theres something so wistful and nostalgic about this type of video, and this video/song in particular.

Life, death, mom, child, you, me, blue, red, left, right, day, night, freedom, confinement and the roaming in between. There is duality everywhere in this song.
THIS is what I have been looking for... The best thing is seeing musicians do normal things that I can relate to (while also creating great music): Eating rest stop pizza, playing with a dog, hanging out with friends, acting goofy without feeling awkward.
This is another one of those songs that spiritually embodies a tough time endured in the form of a breakup. Some scars just don’t heal along with the rest of the person… 💙

I love bands that sound like the 70's-80's-90's, I love the Sheepdgos, The Lemon Twigs, Larry & His Flask, Calamity Row, Daring Greatly and now it seems this band is cool too! I'm an angry old man who can usually be found yelling "MUSIC IS DEAD". I especially like to watch the Pitchfork Music Fest live stream and scream things like "THIS WAS ALREADY DONE IN THE 80s" but last night I happened upon Big Thief. What is this feeling I'm having? Why aren't I criticizing this? Oh no, I think I love this band! So thank you, Big Thief, for being wonderful in a sea of useless farts. I'm so glad I know this band exists, I'm in love. Get off my lawn!
Music is better appreciated when you stop worrying about whether it's outdoing the 80's or not. Big Thief isn't an exception to the rule that you could probably find similarities to previous work if you tried, but does that matter? As long as its not generic sounding I'm willing to listen with an open mind.
@@apispraetorium3275 I actually don't worry about music but I do care deeply about it. I just can't seem to find many new bands that don't bore the hell out of me. All the new music I'm being told is "good" and/or "important" is so ironic and uninspiring. The truth is, the 80s were an incredible time for music, from the underground to pop, and I feel lucky to have experienced it as a teen.

Love this song. I've only just discovered Big Thief as my music taste is generally a bit stuck in the 80s/90s. I see they are signed to 4AD which is my all time favourite label.
