  • Using the Ferrex mini bench grinder flex Dremel type rotary drive to carve a feather in hard Indian pink sandstone. I used diamond cutting wheels for the first time along with diamond burrs.
If you would like to have a go at this, you can tool-up here:
A huge range of diamond burrs: amzn.to/35xRGiE (check shank size)
My favourite set of burrs: amzn.to/31OOHl1
I like these coarser ones: amzn.to/37QaoVB
These cutting wheels are invaluable: amzn.to/2HwP257
The diamond burrs on ebay: ebay.to/2u5UmSB
The diamond wheel on ebay: ebay.to/2ChQQZm

Awsum video! Thanks for taking the time to share your skills. I started woodcarving about 6 months ago. Feel the need to carve rocks as well, not sure why. Watching your vids, and seeing that it is not super skill intensive, or expensive is just what I needed.

Hi Laurie, this sandstone was quite hard but it is not a general rule, some types of sandstone are soft and some slates very hard. it is one of the factors that makes working stone so interesting. Thank you for watching!

No, sorry I don't know, this was an off-cut from my working days. You could try landscape suppliers, maybe they will have broken slabs? best of luck!

you need to be using water on that,, silicosis is deadly and takes a long time for the symptoms to show.

If you wear a good respirator mask water is not completely essential, however if you see my later videos you can see me set up two types of water supply and now I use water on all my projects. Your warning is a useful reminder to take precautions when working stone so thank you!
