- Den Vilda - One more time.
The represent Sweden with this beautiful song.
They achieve the 3rd position....1st ireland 2nd norway....But they deserved to win this year.
Used to be my favorite song when I was a little girl, I remember that I used to walk around driving people crazy by "singing" this song all the time.
I love Melodifestivalen and Eurovision, it's a big part of my life. I'm glad to say this is definitly one of the best swedish melodifestival-vinners of all time!
This song gives me shivers everytime I hear it. It's simply amazing! One of the best Swedish entries in the competition so far.
If Sweden ever deserved to win, this was when. A spellbinding song with distinctive northern influences; I love the melody and the build, as well as the lyris. Absolutely wonderful and beautiful.
This is without a doubt one of the most original and best songs ever in the Euroviion Song Contest.
There were lots of great songs in the ESC in those days, but this was one of the best.
One of the best songs ever in the history of esc. Should have won. Greetings from Griekland...
Totally agree with you, one of the best Swedish entries ever.
It was nice to hear this beautiful song and check out those beautiful singers One More Time...
Again, one of those songs that "Should Have". Absolutely one of the most gorgeous melodies in the history contest.
One of the most beautiful songs that have ever participated in Eurovision, it should have won!
this is the best song that ever existed in the eurovision songcontest. :)
it has to be said that sweden has sent some great songs to eurovision. i love sweden's songs!
I have to say again: haunting beautiful! I'm listening this two or three times a day!
this song is so beautiful, and it make me think of christmas!
The best song ever in the history of eurovision - this knocks spots off any other contender
Oh, what a beautiful song. No idea what she is singing, but the music sounds just beautiful. This is a true winner!
Nanne Grönvall and Maria Rådsten is singing this song so well! I'm swedish, and I'm a huge fan of OMT
this is such a beautiful song!
Simply wonderful!
many good songs passed in the nineties! and this one was also fantastic! 95-96-97 were very good esc years IMO ! kisses from Greece
this is an amazing song, i get swedish images of mountains and lakes when i hear it...
greetings from greece (heja sverige!)
Or as we use to say in Sweden: Why don't we always win when we always send the best song? That is a mystery.
One of the band members and the writer of this song is the son on Benny Andersson from ABBA. Peter Grönvall. Fun fact.
I love this. It's so nice and beautiful.
I love this song. It gives me such a warm christmassy feeling....
To me a song side by side with Waterloo as Sweden's best of in Eurovision.
great, beautiful song.
OMG what a beautiful song!it's true that ireland in this year was the absolute winner,it'was impossible to lose.But this swedish song was so melodicaly magic that even today
,after all this year,i continue remember it and hear it.Hope soon to listen again masterpieces like this from Sweden!
i cannot beleive they didn't win ! this song is very good
jag älskar dig Sverige!!!
This song should have won! I guess the judges wanted something more popish. That sucks. Jag älskar Den Vilda!
i love this song!
Eivör Pálssdóttir sung this in Icelandic on a Christmasconsert last week, absolutley wonderful song!
I love it !!!
beautiful song, even better on cd, the orchestration is wonderful, and the piano very ABBA :)
Love it ^^
they should have won
dear greetz from germany!
such a good song. I wanted this to win! 2nd Croatia and 3rd Norway.
OMG i just lov it, so beutifull
and the snow become drifts along the roadside
The hoofstomps still echoes among the mountains
Playfully sorrowless, like a waterfall ;
The night, it lowers its veil
and erases the footprints ;
Whereever they are they've got the strenght
like the rapids in springtime ;
There he's dancing with the wild one
They're dancing like whirls in a waterfall
Filled with pride and will
dancing like whirls in a waterfall ;
Filled with pride and will
dancing like whirls in a waterfall
Här var det verkligen kvalité som gällde, tillskillnad från mycket av det som vi får se på Melodifestivalen nuförtiden!
Låter nästan ännu bättre nu än när jag först hörde den.
this is a beutiful song! swedish can sounds beutiful sometimes!
love this
I forgot to add this is a truly beautiful song.
This was such a great song. Its a pity i did not win. The norwegian song was good too but this was by far the best in 1996 and one of the best ever! Portugal was great too in 1996 but Ireland was just crap.
The best song very rarely wins, I think that's why! Look at Italy - Italians have even more of a right to ask this than Swedes, surely. Particularly as Sweden (1996 notably apart) does tend to send the same song every year...
Beautiful! This one or Norway should have won in -96!
Beautiful song, it has something Nordic about it, and makes me think about fairytales. Anyhow, what kind of rhytm does this song have? o_O It's not 4/4...
This song is about a girl who lives in the forest, some kind of a elv. A man meets her and they dance.
( Den vilda = The wild one).Something like that :)
i think the same.... 98 is my favorite;)
La mejor cancion de ese año
Heja Nanne Grönvall!!!!!!
There he's dancing with the wild one
They're dancing like whirls in a waterfall
Filled with pride and will
dancing like whirls in a waterfall ;
But the rumours in the cottages spreads
while the snowflakes are falling ;
The stars sparkles against the ice
like clear crystals ;
There he flees away with the wild one
They're rushing like whirls in a waterfall
Filled with pride and will
rushing like whirls in a waterfall ;
The cab disappears in the night
@awirex73: Definitely "the wild one" in this case. Since the chorus of the song is:
"There he dances with the wild one/They're dancing like whirls in a waterfall/Filled with pride and willpower/Dancing like whirls in a waterfall." ;)
Don't know if you've listened to really old Swedish ballads, obviously not, cause most of em got this music touch in it. Enya is born 61 roflmao. Who ripped who...?
I really like Sweden's enrty from 1971 "Vita Vadder"
Very rough translation into english:
The winter, it lowers its veil
and covers the houses ;
The inn's hearth is warming
as the food and the jars
grymt vacker låt.
skönsång
I agree
Yes, it is rather good - interestingly different, how heavy and dramatic it is. I hesitate to say that I love it, though (like their 1995 entry). No, while no doubt a decent entry, it's not one of my favourites from that year. Incidentally, what are your favourites from '96? (Mine are Turkey, Cyprus, Croatia, Switzerland, Greece, Norway, France, Irelan, Finland and Sweden - as you can see, I like 1996 ;Þ)
NANNE
Really? That's very interesting indeed - how do you get across this stuff? Those results were never made official, as far as I know.
@Kokka985 this was way before enya for 1. celtic music? this aint nothing like celtic music. This is a original.
Jag ber om ursäkt för det ;)
Ohh so this is what Eivor did a cover of :D just so you are wondering the Faroese singer did a cover called Dansadu Vindur
@DeepAquaNeptune nope its 1/3 in general with 1 2/4 beat allover the song if I heard it right.
Haha. i've seen her many times on tv but have not tought of that. =D
@rop81 totally agree ! so haunting!
Wasn't it quite the fashion with this kind of almost Enya-inspired songs during that time?
Like Norway had a "ethnic" song around this time, and Ireland had The Voice. In ESC I mean. Or maybe I'm wrong... It's a good song though.
The lyrics paint nice pictures of Sweden in the winter.
not too bad, they often mention snow in the song... though it's not really a song about snow.
yey
Jag undrar när någon sådan här låt kommer till MF igen... Nu är det BARA skit.
Förutom Bengtzing!
This one proves how Sweden can do really well ... I dislike it so much when they compete with stupid schlang songs plenty of plain words and predicitible melodies ... Sweden can do great things like Den Vilda ... Congrats from Madrid !!!
Well, I do like this song very much !
I think, however, Elisabeth Andreassen ought to have won the 1996-contest !!
@Colorshade Hm, actually I think the rhythm is 6/4, but I may be wrong.. o:
this got 12 from Ireland because it sounds like Enya. :)
totally pissed inside a waterfall :-)
This was covered years later by Faroese singer Eivør Pálsdóttir as "Dansaðu" vindur. Listen to that magnificent version ua-cam.com/video/pDHotAaNeEM/v-deo.html
The guy playing the piano the be more specific.
What planet are you from?! What do you mean when the Swedish will create something original?....ABBA, Roxette, Ace of Base?!?!
Well that is pretty original to me mate.
@ukryan1992 Enya really isn't that popular in Ireland
A original song very different of the bad swedish copies of ABBA.
...=) Kan hålla med om att han är lite lik, men det är inte Anders...=)
omg ok i would say at least in 2002 (a lil bit later) excellence had more deserved it than THIS BAND!!!
ich bin seit einer woche nichtraucher
ich bin seit 48 stunden nichtraucher
très moyen
Yes, totally, and then when Italy won it was with their blandest, weakest song ever. You're right; the best song has hardly ever or hardly does ever win.
Denna låt är så rörande
Nae, tycker fanimej att norska är finare än svenska :P Det svänger mer om norskan än svenskan :)
kackebrösel
ich bin seit 24 stunden nichtraucher
