something like this: Chorus: So beautiful is the sky, so beautiful are the grounds. We walk through the night under the shining stars. As we reach the beach hand in hand, I only wan't be with you. Bridge: Every second that I get to be with you, every minute I feel it even more secure. Forever lasting love, our shared destiny. That sweet dream is as if.... Chorus
This song has a nice tune. It certainly didn't deserve to come last. Another example-and there are many of them- of the Finnish entry being criminally misjudged.
I remember watching ESC when in 1996, when I was almost 8 years old. I loved this song, and I was really sad when it finished last. I still don't understand why... Sure, there were a lot of good or decent entries in 1996, but Finland should have been top 10, at least. (and Pernilla should have been in the final 2012) Although none of this really matters, since Lordi won in 2006 with the only catchy hard rock song ever, and basically gave ESC the finger ;) Love from Sweden
I think the last place was more because of her performance than because of the song: She started out very nervous and a little bit off-key, and in the end she clearly forgot about the guitar solo. The song itself sounds very nice. To the Finnish people explaining how it is nothing but a rehash of Finnish folk songs: If that's true, I really need to find out more about your folk music - I might like it quite a bit. :-)
This is a very nice song and I'm completely horrified to hear that in an YLE poll Finnish people recently stigmatised it as the "wrongest choice" in their country's Eurovision history. As Finland has one of the most vivid and appealing music cultures in Europe, I sincerely hope that such alarming result is not indicating kind of progressive conformity which can be experienced in so many other countries. Please Finland, keep it diverse and genuine - and don't bother about alibi voting.
I liked this nice, simple song! And Jasmine was such a nice, non-coquettish girl. Of course not a winner, but it certainly didn't deserve to finish last. :)
Jasmine was too young and unexperienced to be sent to ESC in 1996. I remember how ashamed I was when she made a mistake and sang over the instrumental part.
Didn't deserve to come last, Jasmine gave a really good performance and I guess her dodgy haircut put off the juries. Finland were so underestimated at ESC throughout 60s, 70s, 80s + 90s and had a lot of great songs which deserved better, recently the quality has gone downhill from the country lately apart from a couple of decent entries.
There were even worse presentations (Malta , Greece , Slovenia , Iceland...)! I don't think it was that bad... She is great , as well as the song. Is she still singing? Anybody knows?
Agreed. I was ashamed to be finnish that year. I think that real participant would have been very popular popgroup called Aikakone, but Finnish Broadcasting Company and teleoperator screwed up televoting system and Jasmine was elected.
Kyllä Kojon Nuku pommiin menee tämän alle. Pave Maijasen Yamma Yamma ehkä. Menee ihan suomalaisten piikkiin kun on pitänyt noin heikkoja esityksiä lähettää maailmalle. Mutta Jasmine muistetaan soolon päälle laulamisesta. Sekä Vicky Rostilta 1987 euroviisuista pöllitystä tukkatyylistä.
I really like this song, I like the tune and finnish accents are very nice in my opinion.. But they all kinda lost the performance, they look extremely nervous the whole team :D
while reading these comments, i must say, this song is certainly better, more diverse and Finnish ,then that bye bye baby back in the 90s which was a quite artificial and mediocre.
sorry i dont know to much writing english say what you like but my sister jasmine valentin is 100% real blood gypsy not half i know my sister and we mother and father sorry but you wrong if you thinking my sister is half it not true
hello nice if you like my sister song jasmine and me are very close sister together i know my sister very well jasmine is my big sister and best sister to me always she is so happy full energy understanding and so heartly for everybody and she have very funny comic jokes with friends and we family im not never feeling boring or bad time when she came visit my home or we mother house jasmine is so rich in mind and heart and she is very lovely sister to me
For Finns, this song is anything but diverse. More plain and dreadfully dull if anything... and she even manages to make a mistake in this performance, singing over the guitar solo
hey did anyone know jasmine take to much phone call voices that time ? like that much all phones go closet because many peoples they like my sister that time she win to much voices and she dont have never give up to play guitar i have see her now how she every day make execies like many hours she fingers bliding blood sometimes and she will can play any guitars and with any peoples i dont have see one people who can bite my sister to guitar Re: Jasmine Young Sister
+Maartzinka Latzo Jasmine was a half-gypsy singer who could not sing a single song straight but then she forgot the lyrics. For you: I hope you will learn some writing.
not have any problem you can asking well anyway jasmine is my big sister and we are very close sisters together jasmine is my best and lovely sister and we mother told me all that staff what happyning when she was in eurovison 1996 that time i was just a little girl but we mother told all things when i was grow up
One of the worst entries ever - and I feel sorry for her. She has afterwards said that she got absolutely no support from YLE (Finnish national broadcasting company which sent her there). She did her best with her own song and I believe this song was 100% Jasmine, but it was very naive, old-fashioned and traditional and that kind of songs should not be sent to ESC. Sorry.
eh, because finnish is such an ugly language or what? :P I think though, if you are to use english you should be able to use it properly, you know, make sure you know what preposition to use and stuff like that... ;)
It's a dreadful song. I was like many of my ESC countrymen in complete shock when I saw her dress and her hair. How they could screw up everything. And the song, pure rubbish. Deserved the last position
Great song! And I just love the sound of her voice.....there is something really wonderful about the Finnish language...
This and Switzerland 2011 are the most undeserved last places ever.
great song for finland i voted for this song!!!! congratulations from spain.

When this woman perform this song in eurovision I was 3 years old... 12 years later, I love this song!
I liked this song so much I even went out and bought her album. Not easy when you live in rural Ireland! Still sounds good!
I love this song!!
This was my favorite song from Eurosong 1996 Love it!!!! Was worth more than 9 points!!!
Iceland had GREAT SONG!!!!!!!!! ONE of the BEST Icelandic entry ever!!!!!!!!! THAT'S A FACT
i ilike this song from the first time i ever heard. It should be number 1
one of my favourite Finnish entries... along with "Aava"
last place?? can't believe! I really like this song!
So beautiful is sky,
so beautiful is land,
in light of stars we go,
became on beach handed hands,
with you I want to be...
Though not understanding a word of Finnish I thought this was such a great song that I even bought her album!
Niin kaunis on taivas = The sky is beautiful.
Very good song... So underrated, like Finland 2007.
something like this:
Chorus:
So beautiful is the sky,
so beautiful are the grounds.
We walk through the night under the shining stars.
As we reach the beach hand in hand, I only wan't be with you.
Bridge:
Every second that I get to be with you,
every minute I feel it even more secure. Forever lasting love, our shared destiny.
That sweet dream
is as if....
Chorus
very nice song for finland
Damn I love it! :D
I love this..! One of my top ever Eurovision Songs..!! Why why why did it only score 9 points..??
A beautiful Karjala style of music.
This song has a nice tune. It certainly didn't deserve to come last. Another example-and there are many of them- of the Finnish entry being criminally misjudged.
Otra canción finlandesa realmente bonita!!!!

Man, I was shamed when we sent this to ESC. This is just horrendous!
"Ja, das war wieder so einen countrysong..." Commentators never seem to hold anything back do they?
BEST!
i love the song, but it has very few votes unfortunately in 1996.
This is not as bad as many say it is. It is pretty good I think.
I think the last place was more because of her performance than because of the song: She started out very nervous and a little bit off-key, and in the end she clearly forgot about the guitar solo. The song itself sounds very nice.

2006 must have been the year Finland found out that they should sing on English instead.
I liked this nice, simple song! And Jasmine was such a nice, non-coquettish girl. Of course not a winner, but it certainly didn't deserve to finish last. :)
Ei muistella näitä vuosia;)
The voice isnt from the best end. Its the lyrics that made the song so great. There is only one problem: nobody understand finnish. :(
it finished at the top 10 in my chart.
hyvää
Jasmine was too young and unexperienced to be sent to ESC in 1996. I remember how ashamed I was when she made a mistake and sang over the instrumental part.
This song is very catchy and did not deserve to come last. It's better than Lordi!
Didn't deserve to come last, Jasmine gave a really good performance and I guess her dodgy haircut put off the juries. just like norways "high" in 2004...unbelievable
Or: 'So beautiful is the sky'.
No, that's a matter of opinion. THAT is a fact.
There were even worse presentations (Malta , Greece , Slovenia , Iceland...)! I don't think it was that bad... She is great , as well as the song. Is she still singing? Anybody knows?
No jo on kumma ku ei voitettu! :----DDD
Because other countries had good entries that year.
I really don't get why this song ended up last.. weird.. :-S
I think I'd have put it in the top 5 actually..
Agreed. I was ashamed to be finnish that year. I think that real participant would have been very popular popgroup called Aikakone, but Finnish Broadcasting Company and teleoperator screwed up televoting system and Jasmine was elected.
Tavanomainen euroviisu kappale ja siksipä en juuri ikinä katso euroviisuja. Sata salamaa o paras ja Hard rock hallelujah ihan ok.
No, I don't. I was ashamed only by that time. Mostly I am proud to be finnish. :)
Olli Hokkanen taustakuorossa
Infuriatingly catchy. Gah
She looks just like my old French teacher too (only younger)
Kyllä Kojon Nuku pommiin menee tämän alle. Pave Maijasen Yamma Yamma ehkä. Menee ihan suomalaisten piikkiin kun on pitänyt noin heikkoja esityksiä lähettää maailmalle. Mutta Jasmine muistetaan soolon päälle laulamisesta. Sekä Vicky Rostilta 1987 euroviisuista pöllitystä tukkatyylistä.
Why last? It's not that bad!

eipä taida olla timo jutila :)
Nuku pommiin jne...- osastoa. Mutta hyvä biisi silti. Soi taustalla Akkaa Päälle jaksossa Team Ahma.
Language discrimination I'm sure - been to Finland and have a lot of Finnish music to listen to....
Tämähän oli paskempi kuin muistinkaan. :x
I liked this song but I hope she changed her hairdresser after this!
sorry i dont know to much writing english
say what you like but my sister jasmine valentin is 100% real blood gypsy not half i know my sister and we mother and father sorry but you wrong if you thinking my sister is half it not true
she forgot the fucking words!

eiku firefox :D
ja suomen euroviisuhistorian surkein biisi on valittu!
Love this song. Shouldn't be last. I'd sack the hairdresser though

Tykkää Jos Et Tullut Googlen Kautta!
Again what a shame for us Finns... Dreadful! What were they thinking 11 years ago?!
annan 9-
Akka näyttää just heränneeltä ja taustalaulajana Timo Jutila, muuten oikein menevä kipale.
the beginning was really bad, but quite a nice finnish ... hahaha :-)
Voiko enemmän hävetä 🤔
Mika Tanskanen. Miksi häpeäisit tätä? Kappalehan on aika hyvä.
onhan tämä vähän kökköä.
*Facepalm*
Paskin euroviisu ikinä. Muistan ku pikkulapsenakin vähän mietitytti, että näinköhän tällä voitetaan.
that is so great (not!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)
One of the worst entries ever - and I feel sorry for her. She has afterwards said that she got absolutely no support from YLE (Finnish national broadcasting company which sent her there).

Oh dear... This is embarrassing...
I don´t understand why was considered by Finnish as the worst finnish entry, for me the WORST were LORDI.
eh, because finnish is such an ugly language or what? :P

Terrible song and performance and Jew lookalike singer. I think those are the reasons.
Todella hyvä ääni :)
