The Impreza is more fun to drive than the facelifted Crosstrek. The limited is worth the price can't say the same for sunroof and Burmeister speakers. My 2013 185000 miles took a broadsided tbone hit at 43 mph. No problem for me. 2 months later bought a 2022 impreza hatch limited- liked the improvements though I miss the speedometer red backlighting. The new 2024 RS are not going to have leather seats-why? I may wait for a hybrid version next time around.
Not true. Just use Subaru's VIP program and you will get your vehicle at dealer invoice or possibly (this was true at one time) 2% below dealer invoice. Best subaru finance rate still requires a very good credit rating and short terms. The VIP program requires ordering a car (not taking it off the lot). A dealer can choose to match that program terms though. Dealers are reluctant to talk about the program to buyers who do not already know about it. Same for Alex.
I scooped a 2024 Forester Premium with OP 15 (pretty sure that's the best optional package the Premium can come with) for $30,800 financed at 0% APR for 72 months. Came in the color I wanted, interior color I wanted, all the features I wanted, all-weather floor mats pre-installed (I think that's normal for Subaru, I'm not sure), but like... I'm still stoked. I assumed I'd just buy used cars my whole life because it made more sense financially, but this ended up being cheaper than picking up a used 2019 Forester with 70k+ miles on it because of the financing options.

What was the worst car sold in America? Subaru 360 (North American version) (1968-70) The first Subaru model sold in America, the 360 had an MSRP of $1,297 and was marketed with the slogan "Cheap and ugly does it!" The 360 was a commercial failure in North America. They haven't improved much although the price did go up dramatically.
Stopped being interesting in a Suburu when I heard about the plastic parts used int he cooling sytem that cost thousands to fix and regularly fail. I heard they're including a free extended warrenty on this but I don't know if it is also provided in Canada.
Just bought a new Silver Forester Sport Monday. My first Subaru. I don't even know anybody that owns a Subaru but I really liked the AWD system and the outdoorsy nature of the car. I absolutely love driving this little SUV. In my area the Forester Sport and Wilderness are extremely hard to find between multiple large dealers. The only ones left are White. A lot more Crosstrek and outbacks available.
I currently own multiple Subaru's, however I'm discouraged by the CVT failures and really do not like all of the black plastic. I thought I would be buying an STI which was discontinued so I ended up with a Challenger Scat Pack Widebody. It seems Subaru has changed in more ways than financing. I'll keep hopeful when I'm ready to replace one of my current Subaru's.
Subaru made a fortune during Chip Shortage, now back to normal. Subaru needs to be atleat 20% cheaper than Toyota or Honda equivalent. Subaru maintenance is very pricey too.
I got a killer deal on a 2024 Outback Wilderness. 4500 off MSRP, 2.9%apr. Subarus dealers have the best service and are the easiest by far. Car had just hit the lot. Still had the plastic all over and they hadn’t even given it a shakedown. I tried Honda, Toyota, Lexus. They were all out of touch and their service paled in comparison.
I just bought one Wednesday - came in on truck Tuesday night. 2.9% for 72 months. Gave me $17,500 on my 2015 silverado with 115k miles. Most relaxed dealership experience ever. Got me to the payment I wanted with no money down. I was supposed to put a deposit down and my sales guy said don't worry about it I know you will be here on Saturday to pick it up.
December. 2k+ off msrp. Outback Limited. 1.9 % financing, 60 months. Overall, just a few k more than I paid for a factory ordered 2016 Premium I got in 2015 because many things I added were standard now in the Limited.
I understand Subaru switched from an old tech thermostat to a problematic thermo control valve for regulating the cooling system on all naturally aspirated FB25 engines on 2020-2024 models. I heard Subaru is going back to the more reliable old tech thermostat for 2025? This affects all Forrester, most Outbacks, and upscale Crosstrek's and Imprezas. Could you please clarify? I currently have a 2015 Outback purchased new with 150,000 miles on it and only 2 repairs, both rear wheel bearings.
Great question - I was wondering if this has impacted sales or at least made folks a bit hesitant to purchase - I wonder what Alex says to folks who inquire
I guess that’s a good thing - but Alex is talking about selling the remainder of the 2024s - are these buyers aware of the (potential) TCV issue. I would still like to know how Alex would respond to a buyer who is apprehensive because of it.
I have a 2024 Outback I was wondering if something were to happen to the screen is there any other way to control the air conditioning and heating in the car?
I'm happy to buy one when there's a five thousand dollar discount. They were quick. To put 5000 on the sticker. It's time to get the five grand off now that there's plenty of inventory
My local Subaru dealer was very aggressive last summer on pricing, now zero, nothing. It seems that the WRX has gone up almost 3K, so much for 3k discount.
Seems odd! Should have been the exact opposite. Dealers had no inventory last summer so prices were firm. Now they have more inventory and prices are quickly dropping.
Why would I even want any late model Subaru? They are hit or miss, you either get a good one...or one that goes through oil by the case. The ONLY Subaru I would ever buy is an old Brat, that is if I can find one not rusted to powder.
@@alexpmo no worries the Taos had zero percent, replaced my 2020 touring forester. Felt like it had more features for the money anyway. Maybe next time !!
@@alexpmo Holy shit. I've never seen a sales person say the truth like that! And that fast after a post?!! Where do I live? Is this actually how dealers behave now? Anyone know if all the various bugs people talk about with the wilderness OB and Foresters have been worked out? It's silly but that can be a deal breaker.. Who wants to be in a trail when all your controls blitz out?
I know there's more to come off that Crosstrek because I've seen people get 2000 off of Premium and I was quoted 1700 off of Premium but then again Vermont has like 650,000 people and like 8 or 9 dealerships something like one out of every 8 cars is a Subaru so Subaru has to deal

I hope you listened. Alex explained exactly how pricing & discounts are established in the 1st 3 minutes of the video. It's an amazing description that no car dealer that I know of has ever explained to the public.
Aahhh...i wished i had seen your videos before i bought my subaru three days ago. 😮😢😢 would of been great to get some advice from you when i was shopping. 😓
i think you can negotiate from this point, vs. just taking these prices, see the other comments, seems like folks are getting a bump to 10% off vs. 5% off MSRP
huh? They are still better priced than the competition. Hyundai, Kia charging market adjustments by the thousands on their crap yet Subaru's are discounted and much safer and reliable...
I wonder if there will be any types of deals on Subaru Legacy. Since Subaru is dropping it from it's lineup after the 2025 model year. I would think that if dealers have stock of that model on their lots they would want to move them out especially end of quarter and end of year.
Bought a new 2024 Outback Onyx XT a couple of weeks ago and felt I got a good deal, and this video confirms that. So happy I bought when I did! I owned the Outback I traded in for fourteen years, and it was hard to say goodbye. It was still in excellent condition and had low miles, so I hope it serves the next person as well as it served me. I love the modern features on the new car, and I appreciate your channel so much to teach me how to use them. I’m looking forward to many enjoyable adventures in my new car. Thanks again!
I have 2 questions. 1. How many of the new WRXs have you sold since they came out a few years ago? 2. What do you think of the new TR trim and has your dealer received one?
Tough to say, but not many. The WRX isn't a volume car by any means so Subaru doesn't send us that many. Which is also why you have an opportunity right now to get a good chunk off the price. We haven't received any of the 2024 models yet so no we haven't received any of the TR trim. I did however have an opportunity to see it at the Chicago auto show this year. It looked amazing and I'm sure it drives amazing also. The brakes are massive! 😁
Richard's Rules For Getting Your Best Deal. 1: Never car shop at night or in the rain. 2: Don't insist upon getting the exact color or equipment installed in a car. 3: Remember the salesperson is taught to set the expectations for the customer. They will of course always do their best to convince you that the car or deal they're offering you is the best that you'll find anywhere. Not true. 4: Be prepared to walk off of the lot if you can't get the deal that YOU want. Many times I've had salesmen chasing me down as I was getting in my car to leave. The last Subaru that we bought we got $2500 off of the sticker on a $21,000 Impreza.
Depends on the car! Some higher trims with higher price tags have more room for discount. Also trim levels/models that are in less demand also have more of an opportunity for discount
I'm in Dallas, TX. If I want a specific color and options, and the car is special ordered from the factory, what are my chances of getting below MSRP? There is a car in OKC, which is quite a distance. I've learned quite a bit about features not covered in the manuals. Great channel.

So does that mean you bagged your limit for the season?
Hi ya Alex - I have really enjoyed your videos. Very informative and I take notes on how to do it in the garage. I have learned so much from you - thank you very much!!! Stay safe and healthy!
Thank you Bruce! Glad you’ve enjoyed my videos!
Still have Cracked windshield, bad thermal control valves and CVT transmissions issues?
Just bought my Outback, Premium model, for $32,500 OTD ! 2.9%
I have a 2022 crosstrek manual. The manual is no longer available. I'm keeping it
I scooped a 2024 Forester Premium with OP 15 (pretty sure that's the best optional package the Premium can come with) for $30,800 financed at 0% APR for 72 months.
Oh wow! That's an amazing deal!
@@alexpmo Thanks for the validation, man! When the salesguy sent me the worksheet, I was like... yeah, I'll take that lol.
Incredible deal! Great buy 👍
Where did you get 0% financing??
@@kendrickdelosreyes5381 Sarasota Subaru. My salesguy told me if there had been a different sales manager on the floor the day he wrote up my worksheet, it wouldn't have been approved. I had to drive out of town for it after working with three different dealerships, but it didn't take any real coercing. I just texted him and told him I'd been shopping at two other dealers and wasn't getting what I wanted.
He sent me an offer for exactly what I wanted, so I took it.
To be fair, I think you do need a minimum credit score to be approved for 0%, but I am fortunate enough to have very good credit.
Less than a month ago I bought a 24 outback limited with an MSRP of $38k for $33k, $35,900 OTD with 1.9%.
That's excellent! I take it you went with a shorter term 36 or 48 months to get that rate?
@@alexpmo correct, I went with the 48 month option. Plus even got the color I wanted. I quoted 6 different locations and drove 2 1/2 hours for this deal.
What was the worst car sold in America?
Subaru 360 (North American version) (1968-70)
The first Subaru model sold in America, the 360 had an MSRP of $1,297 and was marketed with the slogan "Cheap and ugly does it!" The 360 was a commercial failure in North America.
I’m sure you’ll enjoy it!
That’s an amazing deal! Congrats on your Wilderness!
2.9% for how many months?
I just got 2.9% for 72 months on Wednesday (came in on a truck Tuesday night - perfect timing). Picking it up Saturday
Pay attention to when new inventory. Vehicles with less floor on them still allow the dealer to show a profit with a discount.
My pick would be Green Onyx limited with brown leather and 20" wheels- no moon roof......
Oasis blue rs seems to be a unicorn in my area! No dealers within the 200 miles radius has one and now I'm waiting.
For me OTD price is everything. I will never go into debt again and as long as cash is 3rd class, best to remain on the sidelines.
Can you address the TCV issue, failures, changes in 2025 models, the extended warranty on these just revised?
Great question - I was wondering if this has impacted sales or at least made folks a bit hesitant to purchase - I wonder what Alex says to folks who inquire
2025 forester TCV was removed
I guess that’s a good thing - but Alex is talking about selling the remainder of the 2024s - are these buyers aware of the (potential) TCV issue. I would still like to know how Alex would respond to a buyer who is apprehensive because of it.
You forgot to tell you that the twenty five forester will be built in the u s a and it will not have the troublesome thermo coupling valve
0%-72 months on our 23 WRX, plus it was discounted $3k. WRX wasn't on my radar, but the deal was to good to pass up. Really like it so far.
2024 Ascent Onyx, $2800 off of MSRP with 2.9% 48 month financing.
What does your credit score have to be to qualify for the 2.9% interest rates
We own a 21 forester premium and we love it for our first child
My local Subaru dealer was very aggressive last summer on pricing, now zero, nothing. It seems that the WRX has gone up almost 3K, so much for 3k discount.
Seems odd! Should have been the exact opposite. Dealers had no inventory last summer so prices were firm. Now they have more inventory and prices are quickly dropping.
@@alexpmo This is in So. Cal. I do not get it, it is a good dealer and they sell a lot of metal.
The new seats in the forester don’t look as nice as the outback seats.
Subaru texted me a few days ago asking if I wanted to upgrade from my 21 sti to a 24 Wrx. I couldn’t help but laugh. 😂
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
What a downgrade😂 I’m considering getting a 2024 BRZ (I’ve never owned a Subaru)
Why would I even want any late model Subaru?
They are hit or miss, you either get a good one...or one that goes through oil by the case.
The ONLY Subaru I would ever buy is an old Brat, that is if I can find one not rusted to powder.
I was at your dealership last week, prices were super high for new Subarus and no one would wait on me. I bought a new Taos
Oh no! 😥 sorry to hear that. Would have been happy to help you if I knew you were in.
@@alexpmo no worries the Taos had zero percent, replaced my 2020 touring forester. Felt like it had more features for the money anyway. Maybe next time !!
@@502flexlex6 enjoy! Used to have vw myself and really liked it.
@@alexpmo Holy shit. I've never seen a sales person say the truth like that! And that fast after a post?!!
Where do I live? Is this actually how dealers behave now? I suspect the fact that I but a car every 7 years or so has something to do with this. Or.. Alex is simply very, very different than most? Someone help me figure this out!
The only thing he might have done better is to lask the person more details regarding the complaint & let the poster know that he would be looking into why the person did not get the service that would be expected. I'm a Quality Manager in manufacturing... I have to think like that. It's how we get better at what we do.
Just bought a '24 Forester Limited, over $1500 off MSRP and 1.9% for 48 months. Our local dealer NEVER added to the sticker even when cars were scarce. This is our 6th Subaru.
That's great news! Sounds like you have a great local Subaru dealer!
Where is this dealership you speak of?
@@nathanpolkoski5277 Florence, KY
Thank you for the video. Blessings to you. 8:58
When do you expect manufacturers rebates to return in addition to dealer discounts. I think a $1000-1500 from Subaru would help move metal.
Just bought a 2024 Forester Limited, only got about $1500 off sticker out the door but they threw in a 10 year/100,000 mile warranty.
The warranty alone is worth it but $1500 off is still a pretty solid discount.
Up here in Manitoba, we are only seeing a 500$ CDN discount on the forester, i dont feel ready to haggle a *discount*
Im hoping once the 2025 come out, if i dont like it i can edge out a discount on a higher trim forester 24, to get it off the lot.
$2,800 off msrp on a 2023 wrx this past Friday with 1.9% apr for 72 months. couldn't be happier
Not fair .......purchased my subaru forester sport a year ago got 5.8% financing and paid the full price of the car too nothing off the MSRP......Subaru messed up
I hope you listened. Alex explained exactly how pricing & discounts are established in the 1st 3 minutes of the video. It's an amazing description that no car dealer that I know of has ever explained to the public.
that was great Alex, thanks 👍
These discounts are pretty much similar to what I payed for my outback in 22
Thank you for posting this excellent video. I certainly enjoyed it.
You’re welcome!
Aahhh...i wished i had seen your videos before i bought my subaru three days ago. 😮😢😢
would of been great to get some advice from you when i was shopping. 😓
The deals are small and the MSRPs are ridiculous
i think you can negotiate from this point, vs. just taking these prices, see the other comments, seems like folks are getting a bump to 10% off vs. 5% off MSRP
huh? They are still better priced than the competition. Hyundai, Kia charging market adjustments by the thousands on their crap yet Subaru's are discounted and much safer and reliable...
Louisville eh? I have looked at your site for my mythical oasis blue rs. I live further north in Ky.
We got an Onyx XT for 10% off MSRP (included shipping) with 1.9%. Great deal.
24 outback 2,400 off, 2.9 x 72 no hassle finance at the end.
I wonder if there will be any types of deals on Subaru Legacy. Since Subaru is dropping it from it's lineup after the 2025 model year. I would think that if dealers have stock of that model on their lots they would want to move them out especially end of quarter and end of year.
Bought a new 2024 Outback limited- 3500 off sticker . 2.9 financing. Really nice deal.
Any idea on when infomation on the 2025 Forester Wilderness will be released?
Details haven’t been released yet, but I do know that the 2025 Forester Wilderness is going to remain the same as the 2024.
What we really want to know…. Ascent Wilderness coming?
in my area they have solterra $300 mo lease deal w 0 down. they'll even pay you 50$ to test drive lol
Base outback 28k 1.9%apr
Thanks SO much for your channel! Picking up my Outback next week. Your videos are VERY helpful with all the features! Thank You!😊
I have the 2024 Ascent, Onyx. Looking for a recommendation for a dash cam. I appreciate the input.
But can you get a 2025 Subaru Forester below MSRP???
Very minimal discounts.
Depends on the car! Some higher trims with higher price tags have more room for discount. Also trim levels/models that are in less demand also have more of an opportunity for discount
What is the range of ideal discount percentage?...eg Forester Limited
That would be, because they are affordable vehicles. They don’t cost more than $50k!
in canada, it's zero discount.
i put 8k down on that subaru buy back at 2.9 on a new Forester .
I'm in Dallas, TX. If I want a specific color and options, and the car is special ordered from the factory, what are my chances of getting below MSRP? There is a car in OKC, which is quite a distance. I've learned quite a bit about features not covered in the manuals. Great channel.
Probably Zero! I'm in Central Texas & got nothing off MSRP on my 2024 Crosstrek Sport
Very good. Look at prices at Barndon Tomes in Mckinney, or the Rockwall dealership. All are discounting below MSRP right now.
I'm so close to pulling the trigger on an Outback, but I got my Crosstrek in 18 and they came out with a hybrid the very next year. I don't want that to happen again! Are there any rumblings of a hybrid Outback?
I bought a 24 Outback Touring XT. The joy I feel in the drivers seat is visceral.
The Onyx should really be offered with a dark headliner
Interesting. At least where I live in Canada (BC), dealer inventory is still low. I had to wait two months and contact four different dealers to get my Crosstrek.
Not sure how Canada is, but here in the US inventory is much better. Hopefully you’ll see the same in your market soon!
Yeah same thing for me I ordered my CT march 2024, in Canada (QC) I’m still waiting for mine they said end of June to beginning of July
I bought my 2024 Outback Premium last December. I couldn't get a discount off MSRP, but did get 2.9% for financing. Happy with my purchase. My first Subaru!
my dealer has 100 crosstreks. 3500 off msrp!
i own two subarus (2018 legacy and 2021 Crosstrek). was fortunate to get 0% 5 year financing and $4k off marp on thr legacy and 2% on the Crosstrek ($1k below msrp). however i am only going to consider hybrids or EV from Subaru going forward. hopefully the inventory will be there.
Subaru will have more hybrid and EV options in the next coming years!
@@alexpmo i hope so too. it would be interesting to see how they incorporate the Toyota hybrid system into their offerings. i don't know if the EVs will be a joint effort with Toyota like the Solterra or a separate initiative (new R&D facility). Regardless i hope it works out
@@alexpmo Probably why Legacy will be gone. Tis a shame!
@@anthonyhawkins3576 for the life of me, i never understood why Subaru didn't offer it as a hybrid, not necessarily a plug in but even a mild hybrid would have been fantastic. it would have resonated with a lot of Subaru prospective buyers/ current owners

Dear Alex, thanks for all of your very informative videos. I am considering buying a 2024 Outback touring xt model, but would like to rent one for an entire week. Turo in los angeles has a number of this generation outback, but the only one with the turbo engine is the wilderness. Do you think it is better to rent the wilderness which I understand is the same engine as the touring xt with a higher ground clearance, or am I better off renting a limited premium or luxury model with the non turbo engine, but the same height as the touring xt. Thank you. Best.SHP
If you can’t find a touring XT to rent, the next closest powertrain would be the wilderness. Best of luck!
