This was truly outstanding. Not usually moved by treacly stories, especially Hallmarky Xmas tales, but i was riveted knowing that Capote's story was somewhat autobiographical! Thanks for the background info in the description! Totally enjoyed the quality of your narration of Capote's poetic prose. Thank you
Donald...thank you for the amazing gift of recording “A Christmas Memory”... your talent and skill make this recording a cherish gift for all who will have the pleasure to hear it...the many hours of work that went into this project is greatly appreciated by many...especially me...Vicki
Love this story- first saw it as a tv play. I’m sure there are elements autobiography in it - but early in his career he knew how to reach a sentiment audience. It must have boosted sales for Mademoiselle magazine. This one is a Seasonal gem for all ages and eras.
One of my favorite things to enjoy is a good narrator reading a sweet story. I love to try and read like one whenever I have to read anything aloud. I used to read to the kids I used to nanny for and try to imitate that cadence. I found it the best remedy to being unable to fall asleep. Reading like that myself just feels so good. It leaves a resonance in my chest and makes me feel like I'm drifting on flowing grains of brown sugar that surrounds and envelops me in rich warmth. Like a lot of the comments, I needed to read this for class, but I'm so glad I decided to listen to this narrator. In my life there has been one particular reading that has influenced my enjoyment of stories read aloud most. That was Meryl Streep reading Chrysanthemum, by Kevin Henkes. I think this narration is up there now too. I don't know if you'll see this, but thank you for this wonderful reading! I enjoyed it whole heartedly.
I love how all the comments are like "Thanks for this I guess I'm only here for my English class." Come on guys. I mean I am here for the same exact reason but still. (⌐■-■)
God how beautiful; I so miss this world; were are all the Christians; God please send me to a Christian school or at the last minute let me stay with these ones; I have no desire to go anywhere else in this world amen
HAAAAAAAAAAA THIS IS SOO BORING WERE ARE THE EXPLOSIONS, GORE, AND MOB BOSSES. This story only has fruit cakes and some 60 year old lady. It makes me want to go to sleep.
