Love this story- first saw it as a tv play. I’m sure there are elements autobiography in it - but early in his career he knew how to reach a sentiment audience. It must have boosted sales for Mademoiselle magazine. This one is a Seasonal gem for all ages and eras.

Powerful poem that Mr. Berryhill made us recite at Waynesburg Central H.S. in PA (1978). I later lived for 20 years in Jacksonville FL where James Weldon Johnson had preached. Just not sure what Rev. Johnson would have thought about this recording. It's too white, honestly

One of my favorite things to enjoy is a good narrator reading a sweet story. I love to try and read like one whenever I have to read anything aloud. I used to read to the kids I used to nanny for and try to imitate that cadence. I found it the best remedy to being unable to fall asleep. Reading like that myself just feels so good. It leaves a resonance in my chest and makes me feel like I'm drifting on flowing grains of brown sugar that surrounds and envelops me in rich warmth. Like a lot of the comments, I needed to read this for class, but I'm so glad I decided to listen to this narrator. In my life there has been one particular reading that has influenced my enjoyment of stories read aloud most. That was Meryl Streep reading Chrysanthemum, by Kevin Henkes. I think this narration is up there now too. I don't know if you'll see this, but thank you for this wonderful reading! I enjoyed it whole heartedly.

I kid you not, today I saw a job contract on the voice acting dashboard that I use every now and then, The summary for the contract was somebody wanted a rapper voice actor of some kind, to do a voice-over for their podcast UA-cam channel, I have no idea how many of this works, I don't even bother with it. Some of the things on that board are way too specific.
