What do you think of the revamped Thomas Street? Have you used it? Would you? What would you change about it? Does this justify the protected intersection?
When I did bicycle delivery for Domino's, I'd take Thomas a lot. The redo looks pleasant. But the new intersections, particularly at 7th are what I consider huge improvements
0:53 Used to cross 7th ave that direction all the time in the past. Hope they improved that light. Unless there was a car next to you, or a pedestrian that hit the button, you as a cyclist would never get detected and won't get a green bike light. Once sat there out of curiosity to see how long it would take, the cross walk signal next to me would cycle from walk to stop to back to walk all while the lights for 7th ave stayed the same. I avoided that intersection like the plague.
That looks cool. I think I will give it a try tomorrow on my inbound early morning Sunday workaholic commute. Appreciate the recon, I wouldn't have found it on my own.
About the Dexter ave intersection, doesn't bikes having to stop before the crosswalk kinda defeat the purpose of the protected intersection where the driver will see the cyclist well because they're stopped right before the intersection?
I love these two recent videos. As a newbie to the cycling world of Seattle and trying to find resources, where are the best places to find documentation/maps on bike lanes/paths. I have very mixed luck with some of the Seattle city maps and google to find current maps. Do you have any pointers?
@@PhilHolden yeah those are the typical resources. I'm finding out things via Twitter and digging into government websites (not fun). In terms of learning the current network you should check out my bike video map www.bestsidecycling.com/map
3:36 Be careful filming and riding. Clearly that white SUV driver did not see you and suddenly braked while already in the crosswalk (or the car’s sensors braked for them). This seems like a great connector and beats the pants off riding on Denny.
Please invite Charles Prestrud for a tour of recent Seattle bike infrastructure - so he can see the kind of transportation improvements valued by today’s Seattleites. Based on his recent interview on the Seattle UA-cam channel, he does not see a place for bicycle infrastructure-related improvements in Seattle’s Transportation Levy (currently on the ballot). He actually said they don’t result in more people bicycling!
it's cool and all but idk how well used it will be, time will tell. What SLU needs to address is that awkward bike lane across mercer from dexter to QFC--instead of just abruptly stopping and dumping you into the sidewalk it needs to span the length of the street east and connect with the east lake bike lane
Haha, first step is to get people to know about it! I agree, that connection should also just be fixed but Mercer Street is just really so awkward / not cyclist friendly.

Nice, Hanoch.

Great! Thanks for the tour and review.
I love seeing the progress in Seattle. Great video!
Love these last two videos - more of these would be awesome!
@@eliandrew2318 thanks for the feedback. Bike infrastructure is a staple for the channel :) glad you enjoy it
Nice fit! As someone who mostly bikes as a method of transportation it always brings me joy to see people biking in fashionable outfits
😄

I noticed that too. Looks like the car was going to T-Bone our intrepid host of this channel!

Too narrow to overtake or pass.
