There is no PG in the name. PG is the old z790 motherboard. This one has no PG in the name. They pay you to sell a new motherboard, yet you confuse people and put the name of the old one. Unbelievable.
Also, I get you need to attract attention to the product so you used wi-fi 7 theoretical combined network speed of 46Gb/s, BUT IT IS WHEN 8 DEVICES WITH 2x2 SPATIAL STREAMS CONNECT TO A SINGLE ROUTER. It is like COMBINING SPEEDS of 8 CARS AND TELLING THAT A SINGLE CAR CAN DO THIS SPEED.
This channel is just something else.
Not a review. An overview with a ton of mistakes.

Maybe it's me but I think WiFi 7 is misunderstood, the M.2 WiFi slot is fed from a pcie x1 gen 3 lane, maximum transfer is 8Gtps, allowing for overheads I'd guess maximum transfer would be about 5Gbps from pc to access point / router, I think the 46Gbps is the theoretical maximum transfer between the access point and multiple simultaneous clients.

No need to make a video. You see an 5.0 m.2 slot on a intel 1700 board? You get x8 speed for the gpu as soons as you plug anything there. Intel cpu does not have 5.0 lanes for the m.2, so the only way to have it is to take it from the gpu. So you see an 5.0 m.2 - it will cut the lanes. No 5.0 m.2 on the board? No such problem then.

Wifi 7 might have incredible specs, but my question is "how difficult is to achieve them?".
For instance, do I need a bunch of repeaters in the various rooms to get over 10Gb? Will a closed door in the way make my speeds plummet? How much does a router that can actually handle such speeds cost? And what about latency?
Im genuenly curious, might be an interesting video for the future?

Too new, you will still be crippled by your ISP. So while, in theory you could reach 46Gbps, your router would cost anywhere between CAD $700 - $whatever - I did see some going to 1500 Canadian dollars. As for coverage internally it has about the same coverage as 6E as it still uses the 6Ghz band, but is allowed to boost it.

@@aelaan12 oh that is for sure and it will take a while before wifi7 will be mainstream and "cheap", I myself just switched to 6E, and I did so only because the WiFi at my university has gotten slow, and I discovered that using 6E is much faster, probably because there are few users connected.
Mine is more curiosity towards the new standard and what we can realistically expect from it

I had considered a few earlier [creative build] versions of Asrock for a motherboard in my upcoming build, but you have given reviews of other boards in your budget builds that I think may be better for me, given that I have a Quadro P4000 card (yes, I know it is ancient, but I already have it) and I cannot find a good/compatible match for it running your highly recommended i5 12600 cpu. I understand the card will be the bottleneck for this old card, but at nearly 80, I enjoy using Blender, Fusion 360, Plasticity, and Photoshop for my own creative amusement and just want a good system based on this card I have. What motherboard and also what chipset sould I use for this card and cpu combo in your opinion.

The problem by not using the top M.2 slot, PCIe 5.0, is that the other M.2 slots are not direct to CPU but instead have added latency through the chipset. I find that it reduces certain stuttering when using the top M.2 slot.
As far as a PCIe 4.0 GPU, including an RTX 4090, at x8 PCIe 4.0 the reduced bandwidth is negligible and not noticeable. I believe in testing the differences 0%-2%, in other words, with my gaming on a 3440x1440 0-4 FPS difference but with zero stuttering in loading textures.
However, soon because of this sharing issue and the limited consumer LGA 1700 and forthcoming LGA 1851 CPU PCIe lanes some of the GPUs will include an M.2 slot.
_In addition, in my case, I have an ASUS Z790 ROG Extreme with an accessible top M.2 slot beneath its built-in OLED info display .. water cooling prevents excess to the buried M.2 slots. The top slot is above the GPU blocks and I can access them, the pair of DIMM M.2 slots are populated with a RAID array, so everything is accessible without having to tear apart my PC. CPU-Z J8P8UR_

      @xgomz 11 місяців тому

Gamers Nexus did this, on a 4090 it's basically 0-3% with some outliers. It's an absurd tradeoff to make for a 'newer' technology. If you're good with a gen 4 drive just get a z690 MB - as best I know only one (some ASUS board) board suffers from this issue. There's also quite a few z790 DDR4 boards that don't suffer from this. Basically you're looking for a board with an M2_1 slot that is PCIe4. When they say just use one of the other M2 slots what happens is then you're going through the chipset which is silly to give that up unless you are a user who really benefits from PCIe5 drive speeds. I'd wager, though, that 99% of users won't notice any difference either way and that's probably why Intel went down this road.

Graphics cards, even the 40 series, barely max out gen3.0 x8. Like a 5 to 10% drop in performance at most. The only thing that can really use all that speed and bandwidth are nvme drives, but even then the difference between a 7s boot time and a 3s boot time is not really noticeable lol. With the thermal throttling of pcie 5 drives, we can't even rely on so that speed for long any way.

    • @DustinShort
      @DustinShort 11 місяців тому +1

Graphics cards have barely begun to fully saturate Gen 3.0 speeds. I've seen a few benchmarks and for gen4.0 you might see a 5% or so at most. Gen 4x8 to gen 3x8 might see more of a bottleneck but only for the highest tier graphics cards. PCIe has just advanced so much in speed that outside nvme and cpu/memory systems we don't really have any components that can use the full bandwidth. For example dual 100Gbe Ethernet cards are more than happy on pcie4x16 which has a max bandwidth of around 300Gbps (32GB/s). PCIe 5 further doubles all those theoretical speeds

This Motherboard is just no go.
Missing SPDIF port for sound optik.
    Missing USB ports 10gb speed.
    Missing I/0 Cmos button.
    Missing I/0 Bios button.
    Missing Fan RGB port.
Missing USB C Port 20gb Speed.
Bad Audio Realtek ALC1220 HD Audio .
Even the next in line have Realtek ALC4082 HD Audio
ASRock Z790 NOVA WIFI is better but damm high prices for Wifi 7.
    Asus is even more crazy.
MSI can not even get out whit 14 th gen motherboards have asked 12 stores.
And nobody have even got news from there vender about 14 th gen CPU.
Even when people can get Intel 14 th gen day by day.
But Motherboard company´s is asleep where are all the new boards.
And mixed prices and not just the high end pushed out.
Are we unly gonna see 3 or 5 motherboards that normal people can relay to.
In normal terms and motherboards that do not cost more that a hole pc.

8 layer PCB does not make better it better for OC. If it does, congratulate the 8 layer PCB designer at not sucking.

That's the problem with Intel. It's not 14th gen. It's a refresh that they are passing off as a new gen. Fraudulent.

Really could you elaborate a bit? ASRock mobo is No #1 brand in both Japan and South Korea, I understand cheapest, low-end models maybe "electronic sensitive?" (need a good PSU) but the highend ASRock mobos are stable, reliable, afforable!
