I paid $2600 for it and walked away with a brand new tbird. It has no rust, a 390, and has sat for 28 years. I’ve put new shocks, fluids and tires into it. It only has one major issue where anything rubber on it is cracked and needs replaced, but that white leather interior is mint. That 390 is currently kicking 300 horsepower and is the best first car ever.

8 years ago when I was around 9 or 10, My mom asked me what I wanted my first car to be. Obviously being an aspiring car boy I replied, "A Mustang!" At that point I practically wrote off that idea as BONKERS because the price tag of earlier mustangs were easily 8, 9, 10 thousand dollars. SO, this year I was ready to buy myself my first car. I was looking at anything in my price range of 0 to 2000 buckaroos. and I found pretty much junkers. Until I started looking at cheap Mustangs. I saw trashed 90's Mustangs for around my price range but didn't want to have to bring them from the grave because I didn't have the money. This caused me to wait, watch, and listen for people selling Mustangs in my price range. Luckily, one of my dads co-workers was thinking about selling his 2005 Mustang GT. So we started talking and bargaining and I ended up buying this car for 2K with minor issues. It has a 4.6L V8 with 300hrsprs all original interior and 107,000 miles on it. I Kelly Blue Booked it and for its condition it was supposed to be around 6K.
Had a 07 GT and loved it to death until the 2011 5.0L came out. Choice at the time was to go forward with slapping a procharger on the 4.6 and have the same HP as the new 2011, or sell it and get a 2011. Well... time went by and I ended up doing neither, wound up with a 2013 kia optima turbo (very hate, much despise) that I later traded for 2015 WRX (very love, she was bestest in snow). Its mad retarded cuz its like they are saying we own the name ( john) for example) and not only is it copyrighted but they even sued the parent for naming him that and winning it. Who goes after someone they named john after they they purchase the copyright like who does that
Among car people Eleanor is just a reference for a special car, not necessarly linking it to the movie. Is like a chic calling his BF Romeo, only to get her self sued into oblivion by Romeo and Juliet llc.
That's usually the case, although I like and build GM/Ford/Mopar engine and I've never liked Mustangs. First gen fastbacks are okay with the rally package, my favorite Mustangs are the Shelby 1965 GT350s. I've always preferred first gen Cougars to any Mustang.
I helped an elderly couple move and the husband couldn't take care of it anymore, so for helping them they gave me their '85 z28 with the 305. Sure it needs a hell of a lot of work to make it safe and reliable. As much as it can get with not having air bags.I'll eventually get those shock and struts on it. It doesn't look pretty, but it sure as hell runs and drives.
Ford maverick, ford Torino, Buick skylark, Oldsmobile cutlass, Mercury cougar, ford falcon, all these are actually classic cars and can be had for cheap.
Im glad he didnt mention any of them cuz im tryna get them for cheap😂 especially the buick skylark, thing is literally a rebadged chevelle with a hemi killer inside.😍
my pops sold my 1970 Roadrunner when I enlisted in the Army. His father sold his Duesenberg Boattail Speedster when he went in the Navy in WWII. I bought a 1971 Satellite Sebring Plus when I came home from the Army. Now I drive a 2020 Cherokee Trailhawk. Surely you've heard the old saying: "It's better to have loved and lost, than to never have loved at all". They're just cars, and the future is always bright.
The called it that because it was as reliable as a boat anchor, but not quite as heavy. Iron Block, Iron Head, Gear drive camshaft, with pushrods. Like any engine, you *CAN* make horsepower, but it's like spending the same amount on a small block V-8, to get half the horsepower. You could probably do a modern build with a turbo running about 10 psi boost, and a blow thru fuel injection, and make about 250-300 hp. It'd be a hoot in an old Fiero or Cavalier. Or you could leave it stock, change the oil every 3000 miles, and it will run 250-300k. Half dozen of one, six of the other. Your choice.
Hello peoplee they were also used in early Chevy II’s, midgets and boats. The boat engines are mostly 180 cubic inches while the cars got 153 cubes. Still, they run well for such led technology. But stay away from the later 152’s with cross flow heads. Unless you can find aftermarket heads for them they are very unreliable, with cracked heads ruining most of them!

Glad to see the Magnum getting love. I had an '05 and even the V6 was pretty damn quick. Dodge gave even the base model a variable intake system to stimulate the sound and feel of a supercharger and honestly as far as small v6s go it's one of the better sounding ones.
Up to speed on: Ford Torino, Ford Falcon, Lincoln, Ford Super Duty, 24 Hours of Le Mans, Mercury, Dodge coronet, Plymouth RoadRunner, Redo on the Ford Mustang and finally, ford lightning
Seriously, I don’t understand! A rusted out Chevelle with no motor sitting in some guys back yard is somehow still a $30,000 shell? It doesn’t make sense at all.
I bought a 66 mustang with a v8 from a high school friend that drive it in high school and parked it in his backyard after driving the piss out of it. There it sat for the better part of 15 years till he sold it to me I’ve been slowly rebuilding it pulled the tired old 289 out and have built a spicy 5.0 302 with all the goods lumpy camshaft, performance heads headers....so on, I’m installing the engine this week finally. I’ve been trying to own a hotrod since I’ve been old enough to drive, and it’s taken me nearly 20 years to bring that to fruition. I love driving, I love old cars and I love HP so I’m very excited to get behind the wheel. Vroom vroom!!!
B is for build was working on making a mustang project that looked like the Mustang 67 in the 2000s gone in 60 seconds movie, people who owned the right to the name “Eleanor” won against the B is for Build, forced him to take down the videos and I’m pretty sure they had the car taken away from them. All because they called a Ford Mustang Eleanor in some UA-cam videos.
I picked up a 1965 Ford Mustang coupe for $4,000. Pretty much got a built 302 and a C4 for $4k and got the rest of the car for free. I'm into it now for another $2k to give it a new trim and a facelift, but still pushing an easy 300HP at the wheel. And it's iconic. I pulled into a gas station the day I bought it, full body faded red patina and a bunch of cancer rust on the panels. A 2020 SRT Hellcat Redeye rumbled past in the parking lot, stopped, and backed up to take a second look. It may have been a bit rough, but it's still a representation of classic Americana. Either way, it's still my daily driver, and it turns a lot of heads.
Agreed! My buddy's 300c has basic bolt ons, tune and a 150 shot. On the sad/stock 2.87 gears and street tires it easily pulls 12s @110mph. I WANT TO DO THIS TO A MAGNUM! and then let my wife drive it lol
@Ken Norcott I bet he'd also say the Ford Falcon(Australian) Cortina(6cyl) the Holden Toranas(6 & 8cyl), Kingswoods, and Commodores(Pontiac G8, Chevie SS and PPV included) Chrysler Valiant Pacer RT and Charger RT(both Hemi 6) and the Leyland P76 are not Muscle Cars because they have Four Doors or giant killing 6 cylinder engines... And also not "Merican"
By Step Dad had a nova. Got it with a straight 6 I believe. Swapped it out for a 350 carb. It was such a cool car. I’m not sure why but he let me drive it all the time. 16 years old driving around a nova was great!
For me, it was calling a Duster with a 318 a "muscle car". Ain't no way you're gonna find a 340 for an affordable price, and the 360 is barely what I'd consider muscle...and dropping a big block into a small block-outfitted Duster is gonna take a lot of work.
If you’re looking to get into building/restoring an old muscle car, a great place to start, in my opinion is with a 1960’s thunderbird. Yeah, it might not be “muscle” as in quick track times, but you can pick one up for dirt cheap, learn how to work on cars with them because they are very easy to work on, and have the “Q-code” version with a 7.0 328FE motor that is practically immortal. It’s a beautiful, fun ride with cool style and super easy (relatively) and cheap to work on.
Honestly I don’t get why people can’t like both. But hey I guess ford and Chevy don’t mind people dick riding and only buying from their brand, like a tool
I wish the E55 was slept on in Australia, they still go for like 35-40k over here. Also impala wagons are a cool, cheap and a classic. I brought a running, driving 71 for $2600

Yeah well where I live Missouri. Literally the only car on this this you can find in decent condition for under $10k is the Monte Carlo and the 3rd gen Camaros. Good vid, but not really true for the most part. You can find these cars under 10k, but they’re not going to be good examples.
Found a 1972 Dodge Charger for $1200 in some guys garage when I was 16. It was my first car and I still have it. It now has a 408 stroker making 425 hp
1968-1974 Chevrolet Nova, and 1970-1974 Plymouth Duster are compact muscle cars. Many makes does gave up muscle cars even before the Energy Crisis began in late 1973. Both are only came with 2 door thin pillar sedans, and a powerful V-8 engine.

Ford maverick, ford Torino, Buick skylark,
Oldsmobile cutlass, Mercury cougar, ford falcon, all these are actually classic cars and can be had for cheap.
Im glad he didnt mention any of them cuz im tryna get them for cheap😂 especially the buick skylark, thing is literally a rebadged chevelle with a hemi killer inside.😍

I always liked the Magnum, it felt like it was reaching back to the history of the old 60s and 70s crazy powerful station wagons.
And my brother in law has one... so for my kids at least it IS" their uncle's muscle car".
“The Iron Duke” is a pretty badass name for an engine though even if it’s just the little four banger they use in mail trucks
Then why not just swap it with another 4 cylinder?
And the reason they are still in mail trucks is because they're dead reliable
And boats and stationary engines and industrial equipment and every dam thing

For me, it was calling a Duster with a 318 a "muscle car". Ain't no way you're gonna find a 340 for an affordable price, and the 360 is barely what I'd consider muscle...and dropping a big block into a small block-outfitted Duster is gonna take a lot of work.
