  • This project is the most complete restoration of a Jeep that I've done yet. It took about a year to do it and included a full disassembly right to the frame which got sandblasted. Then I slowly put it all back together.
Here's what we did to it:
    - Frame sandblasted, painted inside then rust encapsulated and frame painted outside
    - All fluids jeep wide replaced
    - All new brake lines, master cylinder, wheel cylinders, wheel brake hardware, shoes, emergency brake
    - New shocks
    - New tires, New rims
    - New u-joints, ball joints, sway bar mounts, shackles, body mounts, wheel bearings
    - Engine checked for pressure, heads checked, new Edelbrock performer cam & lifters, new Edelbrock performer intake, Edelbrock 600 cfm 4 bbl carb
    - Almost all hardware (nuts & bolts) replaced
    - New clutch, new starter, rebuilt alternator, new battery and all battery/starter cabling. All new water hoses, fan shroud and associated hardware.
    - New valve cover studs, exhaust studs, valve cover gaskets, oil filler cap, electric oil pressure sender and intake manifold bolts.
    - New Painless wiring harness, new tach, clock, oil pressure, voltmeter, fuel and temp gauges.
    - New horn, dash indicator lights, headlights, front marker lights, 6" front aux lighting, and rear bumper lights
    - New hood hinges, windshield hinges, hood tie downs, fender flares
    - New windshield glass and all rubber surrounds
    - New paint outside, undercoated, and Raptor Liner inside tub
    - Seats repaired as needed
There are a bunch of other little things I'm sure I'm missing but you get the idea!

Excellent job!!! it amazes me how you can tear the whole thing apart and then remember how to put it back together. I could never do that.

Very nice. I would have done a front shackle reversal, moving them to the back of the springs for a better ride. But it came.out damned nice.

Fabulous! My 81 cj5 is silver with blue renegade {originally a dark maroon}. And thanks for reminding me I need to install steering box brace!

Any chance you could share what color/ brand paint you used on the engine and transfer case. It looks really good.

Hey Mark, Thanks! and no problem. It's an AMC Green by POR-15. It's their engine enamel. I have an engine rebuild video that shows the paint job in more detail on the channel if you haven't seen it yet. Cheers!

@@FatherSonGarage I ordered a new rebuilt 401 AMC engine for my 1977 CJ-5. I haven't received it yet, but the engine builder wanted $120 for a matching spray can. I only ordered 3 extra spray cans because I liked the way you painted the transfer case to match. I'm planning to paint the bell housing, SM465 1 ton transmission and transfer case to match the engine color. I don't know if the paint you used will be a match, but it looks very close from your video and pictures of the AMC engines that the builder has painted with their "custom" color. This is good information. Thanks so much for your reply. Best of luck.
