Yep they have no idea of convolution neural nets work. The buzzword XAI (explainable AI) has been hot in tech, but the people behind that are ethics people who have no idea of the implications on hardware of adding explanations of the weighted attributes and will drastically degrade performance of current models.

@@Zhcwu Slightly worse performance for explainability is a trade-off many including me are willing to make. Especially in mission critical applications where explainability may be more valuable than accuracy. Humans can work around performance, but not around randomness.

Less about how the programmer "coded it", but it's more about the data that was fed to train the AI model with hyperparameter tuning and features used.

There was a big scandal in the beginning of April where meta ai, midjourney, etc could not generate an Asian man with a white woman (but could do everything else at least some of the time) which caused them to update them. Or this article could be from that period.

There is no programming. AI learns from pictures on the internet, since internet is full of stereotypes AI think thats the truth.

Meta AI from Facebook is pretty good, I haven't had issues with asian imagery. I tried the asian male and Caucasian female and it works fine for me. It did make the female asian but I switched "white" to "caucasian" and it fixed it. I think wording matters alot
Tried it myself so many times and AI was never able to create the white female.

The image of the first Asian guy looks like a slightly older version of an Asian guy I have seen in an Asian drama series that has recently showed up randomly in my recommendations. It is some drama series about a CEO having an on again/off again relationship with one of his employees, and after a 5 yr breakup he finds out she secretly gave birth to his son. Then is determined to get her back and be a family.
