This is so helpful, thank you. I'm in a tiny space and want to use my subscriptons to Netflix and Prime Video via their apps on my iPhone, screen mirroring to a regular monitor. As long as I can power the monitor and then connect the iPhone to it with an HDMI adapter, I should not need anything else? Can I still use the phone audio if the monitor has no speakers? And do you happen to know if there are any limitations to doing this with an older iPhone? I have an 8 Plus that is currently on iOS 16.7.6.

You said to change the view on the screen from portrait to landscape you have to make sure your settings before you record. What if it won’t rotate onscreen? I made sure my phone rotate lock is off, but I still cannot get the QuickTime mirror to rotate. It does not follow the phone.

I would like a software that I can mirror my iPhone camera while videoing and be able to control the zoom in and out from my mac WHILE RECORDING. I need this so I don't have to remove the camera from the stand to get a close up. Will reflector do that ? If not, what do you suggest ?

I just got an iPhone for the first time in like 7 years. I’m trying to connect to my TV via airplay, but my phone is asking to scan a text on my TV first. Oh please can someone help me: I've been using Reflector to see my iphone on my laptop as I record. I set it so that I can see it in full view on right rotation. When I record my first video, the size is normal when I see it in my video editor (Shotcut). When I bring in the second video, the screen is so tiny and I have to blow up the scale but it looks too grainy. This has happened twice. Hi Justin - just found you today and found your video very helpful and informational. I took your recommendation and dowloaded the trial of Reflector on to my Windows laptop. Once it was installed on my laptop, I opened my control screen on my iPhone and selected screen mirroring and nothing appeared. It just waited and waited....and waited....spinning the dots! No options appeared. I have both my iPhone and laptop connected to same Wifi. And I have them sitting side-by-side. Any suggestions on what's happening and how I can get this to work? Thank you!

No delay over HDMI? There’s plenty of delay. You can see the delay in your video. That’s actually why I’m here; I need a faster alternative than the HDMI cable with less delay.

you shouldn't call it a "Complete Guide" because it's missing the one use case I need: iPhone to iPhone mirroring, for monitoring a remote/live video recording from on stage using another iPhone (and starting/stopping the video).
I bought reflector and I think it was called parrot years ago. To me if you pay it should be for life. It lasted 2 years then did not work you had to buy their latest version’s. Just saying.
