Watching this video late but how is the spezialized better than your carbon bike you built? Is it better to ride and why? I saw your 1st carbon bike build and I was looking to build the same bike as I’ve always wanted to do this so just very curious if it’s better to just get the specialised.
Congratulations Sherry on graduating Ito "Team Specialized" I too am a new member having recently purchasing the Tarmac SL6 Comp which I intend to gradually upgrade the components and make it "My Bike" I have changed to Specialized from Giant because I have always admired the brand of bike and read many reviews. After a few rides I am far from disappointed the Tarmac delivers!!!!! I love Singapore and you have inspired me to bring my Specialized Tarmac up and ride the Island......Good on you mate!!!
Congrats on your new set of wheels! You can feel the joy you are experiencing through the screen. I always had a greater sense of joy when buying a bike versus a new car. If you maintain a bike well through the years it can become valuable like a classic car.
I got the Specialized Sprint in Cool Oasis in 49 last weekend I am 5’6” and the recommendation is a 52 but for some reason my style benefits a smaller framed bicycle. I am so happy with this investment. Absolutely incredible build, reaction, feedback and smooth. So much fun!!!
Your height definitely suits a Size 49 better, definitely not 52. One can't merely follow Specialized's size chart. I'm shorter than you by an inch with a 77.8 cm inseam and I'm a Size 49 on Specialized bikes.
This video is incredible, to add on your previous bike fitting videos. I learn so much from it. I might upgrade my bike as well to cycle longer distance.
🔥 🔥 Thanks for the informative video! Super helpful as I am also considering to get a bike and is overwhelmed with all the choices. Happy for you on your new baby. Hope to see you around on the roads :)
i'll be honest, the price of the 2022 allez sprint is not worth the cost. For that cost, you are able to get a full carbon bike with a full ultegra set. The allez sprint 2022 hurts my soul with their price point...
I absolutely loved your vlog! You made the best decision and a very smart one too!! Thats is a top shelf aluminum road bike! Congratulations! Happy for you! I want one now
Congrats! You'll love it! I have a Specialized Roubaix comp and Allez Elite and love them both! I went with the Roubaix vs Aethos or Tarmac when picking at this level because I go on longer rides and wanted the comfort! I also wanted the Ultegra groupset vs 105 as my Allez Elite has 105 and Ultegra has smoother shifting.
Yo sherry, quick tip on eyeballing sizing the next time you buy a bike - use stack and reach of the geometry of frames as a point of reference instead of the top tube size. Stack and reach are always constant, but top tube sizes always change depending on the manufacturer! Congrats on the new ride and hope you ride out in LA someday 🙌
it doesnt matter so much when a beginnner, first know what kind of bike you want, road race, endurance, climbing, ect... effective top tube is the most important dimension, everything else can be adjusted for the most part. novice's dont know what they prefer and so theres nothing to go by until they try it for months if not years. only when beginners gain experience will they know specifically what they want.
@@timtaylor9590 I agree! But my point is the sizing system is different across many manufacturers. Effective top tube, reach and stack are constant across all though. You get what i mean?
@@timtaylor9590 I shouldve also caveated that effective top tube and the manufacturer's top tube number can be completely different. Bike brands are so weird in this regard.
I have a 2012 Allez, and a 2016 Ridley Noah, carbon. When I run the Allez, there's something about a Specialized bike that makes it move. I don't know what it is, but there is something there.
Not sure that's an upgrade, but would love to hear your thoughts on the differences with your AliExpress bike. I would expect a full carbon frame feels stiffer and faster, particularly when sprinting. The Allez sprint is probably heavier as well with aluminium and disc brakes right? Also if you're interested in the SL6 frame, the Trifox X16 is built based on the mould of the SL6 but is serveral fold cheaper
Great video! I am looking to get into cycling right now and have been leaning towards the normal Specialized Allez base model just to see if It is something I am committed to and this definitely solidifed my thoughts!

Hope I can get one Allez Sprint frame soon from the Specialized NeverNotRiding Challenge 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Did you get a wireless shifting groupset like Shimano Di2 and SRAM eTap? They work great, and they can also control your Garmin (change data screens, etc)
Very odd. I worked at a Specialized dealer for the past couple of years and I’ve never heard of the Aethos being described as a bike for long distance. Its definitely intended to be a more “comfortable bike” but still performance oriented. Along the lines of a Tarmac compared to an endurance bike like the Roubaix. Yes, an Aethos is meant to be more comfortable/compliant so it will in theory be better for longer rides compared to the Tarmac but just never heard it advertised as a bike made for long distance. IMHO most riders should be on an Aethos not an SL7. If you’re a dedicated competitive racer then maybe not but the added compliance is going to help “every day” riders stay fresher thus providing the ability to put more power to the pedals for longer. Opposed to those who ride 50-80 miles daily on a stiff bike so they’re conditioning themselves for the races. Just a different POV. Either way get on a A bike and enjoy! Preferably a Specialized 😉
congrats on your new Allez Sprint! just curious, what made you go with the allez sprint vs maybe a merida Reacto/Scultura or a Giant TCR since they are all priced in the same ballpark
👍👍Mine is a Specialized Tarmac Road Carbon frame. Still in love with it after more than 10 years. And especially the Shimano Ultegra Drive Train. Super smooth, precise & quick shift. Spend a bit more on the DriveTrain, you'll be amaze at the difference in speed you can gain. Just try bikes with Dura-Ace, Ultegra, Shimano 105 ... you will definitely feel the significant speed difference and smoothness/efficiency.

I have this bike + new TCR. I never got along well with the TCR. The Sprint rides better and at high speeds is more slippery. I loved my 2013 aluxx TCR but can’t get in USA anymore. I paid for the Sprint. Don’t have to be as paranoid about Sprint since it is not carbon. I put 53/39t chain rings and upped to 11-32t cassette so my Sprint climbs and goes fast on flats and descents.
@@sherrybyw the smoothness comes from the better drivetrain.
