It still has the same chalky buttons you'd find in an old Malibu. This is the problem I have with GM: they know how to build nice cars but they go 90% of the way and then call it quits. I had an XT5 for a week and it felt as crappy as my grandmother's old Cruze. Materials and build quality were a solid meh. I just felt underwhelmed by the brand that was once the standard of the world. I like how this XT6 looks but I'd either save my money and buy a Traverse or buy something Japanese. I hope the switch to electric brings a renaissance to Cadillac because I want it to succeed in becoming world-class again.
For me, Cadillac does not give reasons why you should purchase them. I have always felt that Caddy's portfolio was just an Olds, Buick, or Chevy with extra chrome and leather. Nothing about them looks or feels class leading. I know there are many who disagree but, nothing about them helps them stand out about competitors.
I get why the XT6 exists, like you said, it's dumb to not have an SUV/Crossover competing in every market segment right now, so in that mindset I get it.
But
The bones of the XT6, from the lower end Traverse especially, really show through. Certain buttons and switchgear, infotainment wasn't reskinned, the meh drivetrains... I just feel like they should've tried harder or done something to differentiate it from its platform siblings. It just feels like a half-assed cash grab, which although I understand, there's no effort or wow factor like the new Lyriq.
A Premium Luxury XT6 right now is touching $60k, up to $80k fully optioned... I just can't mentally justify a nice Traverse for that price honestly. For 60K you have some really stiff competion: That's touching entry-level BMW X5 money, Merc GLE with a few options, Lincoln Corsair, Lincoln Aviator, fully optioned GLB, GV80, Model Y, Lexus RX and GX, XC60, entry XC90, Q5 and Q7, Cadillac's own Lyriq....
The Escalade is based off a Yukon and Tahoe just like the XT6 is based on the Traverse
@@j.h.hahnes8849 Yes, obviously. The difference is, they changed a significant amount of stuff with the Escalade compared to its siblings. It has magnaride, an additional engine option (although the regular engines are pretty good as is), supercruise, the massive 30" OLED display, and they completely changed nearly everything on the interior so it has a completely different personality
The XT6 always felt like a stopgap vehicle. Cadillac needed a three-row crossover so bad they rushed this one. Acura, Lincoln, and Infiniti are offering better options in the same segment.
Standard AWD & optional 5.3 V8 would’ve set this more apart from The Chevy Traverse it’s based on.
Love your vids! Thanks for the content!!
Good review. Thanks!
Good looker from the outside. Full leather cubby is an odd touch. Maybe the 90-00’s are still in my head, but I still associate gray color leather with cheap vinyl and plastic.
Great review!
Okay, same engine as the chevy traverse now i see why there are so many used cadillac luxury with low mileage for resale
I love my 2021 xt6❤
What a beauty
I feel like I almost forgot this thing existed. I know the XT6 has only been around for 3 years, but Nobody really talks about this thing anymore since it's not really an interesting 3 row luxury SUV, but that's just my opinion. It literally looks like a Honda Pilot or Volkswagen Atlas copycat ..
I think once GM gives it an updated interior with the new screens it'd be perfect
The 23 Model Year already got the midcycle refresh with a few new pieces of trim and some different colors, they've already announced it's being killed for the 25MY.... the new Lyriq kinda replaces this
Lol as soon as I saw the thumbnail for this video I instantly thought of one of these when I had to do a battery on one. Worst battery installation I have ever done. I've had BMWs and Mercedes battery installations easier then these. Otherwise I actually like the design of these. I like that it's more of a boxy shape, it looks like a mini Escalade which is cool. Cadillac has always had the Escalade design on point except for the m.y. 2006-2014. But all GM products from that Era looked like trash except for the Buick Lucernes, Pontiac G8s, GTOs, and the Corvettes. I'm sure there's a few I left out but yes I do like the XT6 from a design standpoint
The BFB test was kinda suspenseful this time around.
Funny there isn’t a comment on how Cadillac was supposed to give the xt6 a new solo platform not to be shared with Buicks, traverse. I think they killed that idea in favor of the Escalade v
U never mention prices on these. Or list.
I wanted this as a family car when it came out but it’s not worth the price at all. Especially with the lack of depreciation in the past year or two it is out of the running. I’m too cheap and/or poor
No Haggle pricing in a Caddy Dealership? Huh.
“Skin pocket” LMBO😂
I don't know man; I love the interior, but I don't really care for the looks of it.
I'm still waiting to see if Cadillac will ever make an XT4-V, XT-5 V or an XT6-V with the 6.2L S/C V8. But still the XT6 is pretty good.
Considering that all the XT vehicles are transverse FWD-based and share a large amount of parts with their cheaper siblings... I'm gonna go out on a limb and say no
@@Black-Villain I understand.
