I had the honor of meeting DJB on three different occasions, I actually got to hang out with them at this show, I was introduced by a mutual friend, such a down to earth kind man! Rest in Peace DJB
I wouldn't put a bet on it. They did one album. They had one hit. They broke up so fast nobody knows who they were, except for DJB. If the album was good you'd know the songs, at least more than Edge of Sundown.
Danny Joe was an incredibly nice person. I met him several times and it started with a friend working the stage and she took me back to meet Molly Hatchet, The Outlaws and Blackfoot. Then I met him again when they were playing Kings Dominion the same year, for our sr class trip. After that I was working at Roy Rogers restaurant and they came in often. I went on their tour bus and we'd catch one. Always the gentleman and he absolutely loved and adored his wife.
Wow i remember this concert i was in 10th grade i remember being realy hot in mid 90 my sister and neighbors were there it was foghat n reo speedwagon to bad they dont do concerts there any more toledo tire down the speedway
Please check out Firewaters Down. It is an album made by one of the guitar players in this band. Kenny McVey. He is the guy with the long black hair and the moccasin boots.
We sat with a couple of really hot women... one wrote my name and phone number on her jeans... she never called. Still have a picture of us all from that day
@@meredithx16 Well, THANKS anyway !! Even this short clip is GREAT ! (I always hoped that somebody out there would upload videos of this great band / singer... still looking for some Blackfoot / Rickey Medlocke as well as early ZZ Top and the OUTLAWS !!)
@@jamesglenn1046 Wow - awesome !!!! Could you tell us more about the Danny Joe Brown band days?? Do you have video footage from those days that you could share ??
I wonder If the person that threw the hat at the beginning of this video was also the person that went to ozzy show and threw that bat on stage months after this show, the same year, but danny got luck not wearing the hat but ozzy was unlucky eating the bat but he's still alive for some reason
Don't talk daft. Ronnie was the driving force behind Skynyrd. From 1964 he was the one who decided who would be in the band, the one that encouraged and even bullied them to become one of the tightest bands and one of the top acts in the world at that time. Even today their music is played regularly, their songs still get covered and feature in films. Hatchet only achieved their success because of the void created by Skynyrd's plane crash as fans sought a band to replace LS.
Danny Joe went back to hatchet. He took with him the guy on the far right here. He's a guitar named Bobby Ingram. Ingram ended up buying the molly Hatchet name. He owns it, and destroyed that band. Some call the ban "Bobby hatchet" with what he puts on the road now.
The truth about DJB leaving the band and coming back has never really been disclosed. DJB left Molly Hatchet. His band is even playing a Molly Hatchet song. It doesn't look like Danny was happy with MH. And the Danny Joe Brown band was such a SUCCESSFUL unit to where everyone QUIT the band and the tour ended very soon. Later DJB rejoined MH with his tail tucked between his legs and I think he might have brought a new person or two to be in MH. If Danny Joe Brown was SICK with diabetes and whatever, then how sick did the man look here? Maybe I've got the information mixed up but it sure looks like infighting was an issue in Molly Hatchet and led to DJB leaving. Commercial and catastrophic failure of the DJB Band led to DJB going back to the band. What a way to destroy a band. It was like Danny didn't have a heart for Hatchet and then he got stuck in the band. Molly Hatchet just slowly fell apart. They pretended to be happy with two albums. They were still popular but was it fun playing the new songs. It's hard to know if I know wtf I'm talking about because nobody ever seemed to talk about what happened.
its pretty awesome that this footage exist !!!!!!!! man I would love to go back in a time machine!!!!! rest in peace danny joe brown
