Lizzy, in Japan, make sure you have loads of cash at all times! It’s mainly cash based, even in the big cities. We got caught out heaps. You need cash for almost everything! Also, we just got back from there and it’s very cold.
I’d very much like that playlist please :) I feel the same way about Radiohead. Reminds me of travelling on buses! Listened to them constantly when I was travelling
I love Radiohead! I especially love listening to them on plane rides. They’re perfectly moody, chill, and interesting for my ears. I always love a packing video! I’m travel obsessed. 😊
A tip I would have for Japan would be to get an IC card (Pasmo or Suica) and load a lot of cash on to it, use it for small transactions so you don't end up with the millions of yen coins at the end of the trip ! They accept them on vending machines as well as in a lot of restaurants, on top of their usual function of their version of an oyster. As someone else said, cash is essential and you can withdraw cash from 7 elevens because they have international ATMs. If you need any recommendations I just spent a year in Tokyo so have experienced it recently :) Have fun !
Mindfulness sets you free from the anxiety and over thinking things - happy festive season. P.S. wishing you safe travels in Japan, such a surprisng and humbling culture. : - )
I love your vlogs and videos, I feel like you and your channel has a distinctness that sets you apart from other UA-camrs and influencers !! I can't wait for you to enjoy Japan but also come back and debrief us all 💓
This is the problem with politics. Every day people like you and I are made to feel intimidated by others who are perhaps more vocal about their stance. Your vote and opinion is just as worthy as some political activists. And you are free to cast that vote however you choose xx
Absolutely! I'm American, and this past year volunteered to register new voters at colleges for our midterm elections. We need more people who may be first time voters, maybe a bit intimidated by the political system, or even people who just don't care - to CARE this time around because every vote counts, and our world is going mad bonkers right now. Even though I don't live in the UK/London, thank you for being engaged and voting, Lizzy! It truly MATTERS! :)
I must have missed her saying that she felt intimidated. She just said that she hasn't educated herself as much as others, which is not a bad thing, just a fact that some people are involved and into different things. Some more so into politics then others and are more vocal, not a bad thing. The fact that she is making the effort to go vote is what matters.
@@karenmyers3672 thank you for proving my point entirely. Others will be more analytical in what you say and think, they will pick holes and be argumentative.
I think you look beautiful without fake tan, more contrast with the sweater colors and the face looks brighter because of that. With fake tan it’s pretty too, just more muted
I'd really love to hear your thoughts and opinions on travelling alone - especially as a woman and in a country with such a different culture and language than your own! Hope you have an amazing time in Japan x
I've spent a flight reading A Little Life, and section two, the Postman, had me full-on sobbing. Tears streaming, snot, wobbly chin, hitching breaths, the works. I wish you good luck!
PS i spent three months in japan this summer (living just outside kyoto) and I honestly think you dont need to worry about itineraries, wherever you wander is totally magical and you'll realise that once you get there i think xx
Hey Lizzy, could not recommend Monk in Kyoto enough! One of our favourite dining experiences in Japan, Natalie Portman also happens to sit behind us. I would definitely suggest eating straight from the Monocle guides for both Tokyo and Japan! Enjoy!
SOEXCITED FOR TESTING BASICS!!!!Also love your grey jumper and jeans! Which are they both? And also your outfit with the blue jumper hahah Love all your outfits. And yes packing video!
Question! What camera do you use to vlog ? Do you use a different one when you do different filming? I want to film some videos of family and am curious. Let me know if you have any advice!
Hi Lizzy, Can you please link the Japan book you showed in the video. I'm going to Japan in early January :) I hope you enjoy your trip and cannot wait to see videos of your travels
definitely read the book. I much prefer it, they make a couple of decisions in the show which i think undoes some of the narrative of the book. I really liked the TV show, but the books much more powerful, and the ending is much better. Also you get a much better sense of how they've ended up in the situation they're in, more subtly if that makes sense?
I really liked Handmaid's Tale! The second book is lovely as well. And you should definitly watch the TV show, it's super dark but well made, and brings more plot for the same world.
The only moment where I struggled was in Tokyo Station getting a SWICA card for the metro. I had watched a tutorial on how to use the ticket machine but I could not find the right machine for aages 😅 (maybe there is one at the airport). And also 5 days in I got completely lost in the Shinjuku metro and I had to ask someone to guide me out 🤣
I love Radiohead as well! Everytime I revisit the old albums, I am blown away how each one is individually good. Have fun in Japan! Just went there two weeks ago and I can't wait to go back.
Wow! happy to know that you go for travel in Jpn. I hope I'm near in Tokyo to see you in real if possible. But, so far. 😊❤️ Anyway, I hope you have a wonderful day as always.
I loved the mood that you were in at the beginning of the vlog, you were so funny! Also, maybe I’m like super late on this one but have you read conversations with friends? I think you’d loove it!
Try not to ruin your Tokyo holiday by getting overwhelmed by how much there is to do! I did not understand how enormous Tokyo was til I got there and spent a day freaking out 😂 I’d highly recommend just picking 1-2 things to do per day an then wander in between.
Watching this in 2021 and it seems so strange that you’re out every day at events and parties and meetings. Little did we know what was around the corner.
Glad to hear about your voting intentions, shocked and dismayed to hear about your opinions on the pret mince pie. Can’t be right about everything, I suppose !
I had to laugh when you said that Lyndsay had got you a pottery class for your birthday........check out the Ally McBeal episode (if you can find it on UA-cam) where they were doing pottery from nude models. Hope yours turns out to be as 'eventful!!' Also, Lyndsay's care package was a wonderful sentiment. How lucky you are to have such a good friend.

Your reaction when the coffee pods can lid broke 😂😂😂
So nice to see your mojo is back! I guess it's been a hard few months for you, I'm glad this trip to Japan got you glowing again! x
I’d very much like that playlist please :) I feel the same way about Radiohead. Reminds me of travelling on buses! Listened to them constantly when I was travelling
The return of the mince pie battles!
The best part of Christmas!
Lizzy, when the attachment broke off from the top of the Grind coffee tin, i seriously felt ur pain😬😄😀
I’ve now implemented mince pie rating with my family because of you. If that’s not influencing I don’t know what is. 🥧
I love Radiohead! I especially love listening to them on plane rides. They’re perfectly moody, chill, and interesting for my ears. I always love a packing video! I’m travel obsessed. 😊
The fact you're voting Labour makes me like you even more
farley boo you appear to be describing the tories...

Its Arket, but i never found it..
Hi Lizzie,
Can you give the info on the Harkon Japan book please.

I agree!! her videos feel very authentic and intimate
I feel it’s the British humor. She reminds me of Patric Melrose, but with kindness and empathy.
I'm planning on traveling to Tokyo myself, will certainly check out those guidebooks! Would love a packing video, and can't wait for the Tokyo vlogs!
Big big big yes to Japan packing video - feel like I’m excited for this trip as if I’m the one going !
Love you so much for talking about the election and also for voting Labour 🥰
Do you think you could do an updated makeup routine ? I love your minimal look xx

Can't wait for you Tokyo videos! Can you maybe also do a video on traveling solo?
Thank you! I don’t think I’ll do a specific video on this because that’ll come through in the vlogs as a whole, but I’ll make sure to focus on it! Xx
Now you're living East, if you find yourself at Spitalfields you should try the mince pies in Konditor, 10/10!
