I had the like super version of the devastator set that came with a full iron hide build for him to fight which was really fun, I loved that set, but I didn’t use them as TRANSFORMERS because of the reason you stated, you had to take ‘em apart and rebuild em. Which I didn’t do once with any of them because it’s a hassle. It was kind of a combination of my love for transformers and legos, but at the same time just barely missing the mark of the transformers actually transforming. I really hope Lego does a full minifig scale them for transformers, because I have a feeling they’d make sure the sets actually transform, especially with how many transforming mech sets they already do
I got only a single Kre-O set in its heyday, I believe it was Prowl (big figure/car along with his Kreon counterpart), and I eventually gave it away due to also being underwhelmed by the build, and not particularly caring for G1 Prowl at the time despite how nice the minifigure itself was. I've finally really gotten into the line years later though, the Kreons are adorable and so fun to collect even still. They have a real charm, and feel like proper toys, rather than several-hundred-dollar "adult display pieces" for redditors like modern LEGO sets today. Plus, they really feel like proper enhancements of the classic Lego minifig - besides better articulation, they have so much more modularity than Lego's minifigs do! Why CAN'T clips be attached to Lego minifigs' forearms? Or have attachment points on the sides of the legs? The Kreons are what I wish Lego's minifigs were today.
I have exactly one Kreon and unsurprisingly it's Warpath
Love that one. I couldn't find all his pieces until after I made the video
