There is no engineering problem which cannot be solved with a bigger hammer. Pleased to see not only a torque wrench used but also feeler gauges; these guys know what they're doing.

Officially the first time I’ve seen a traditional ratchet wrench with a socket on it, on any of the Pakistani mechanical videos… I kind of thought they were against their religion, .. you just wait until they get some Milwaukee battery tools, they will absolutely run circles around all of us…

I had to top the video and make a comment, there are two ratchets a 1/2" 1:40 and a 3/8"1:43. I thought the 3/8" was a Snap-On at first, the head looks like an old snap-on I have, but the handle isn't right.

That’s one hell of a complicated engine! A brilliant engine! Fair play to these guys, being able to restore & rebuild an engine like this & not a power drill in sight.
Why would you need a power drill? They’re not not drilling holes 😂
Power drills are not only for drilling holes!! Air wrenches, which is the same thing gets the same job done in seconds. All those many many bolts. Mabey a power winch to help lift the block up, By block I mean engine. Get yourself a drill! Then your’ll learn that their actually quite a handy tool.

Sorry then Ms Perfect! What I should have said was power tools, as I also said a power winch to help lift the heavy block. It’s time lapsed so most prob took a long time & effort to lift.

I mean you can put together any engine with crude tools, atmosphere, and just basic knowledge. Now how long will it last is the true testament. How about all the machine work?
They have machine shops did you see the heads come back wrapped probably from the machine shop hone the cylinders it should be good to go

That’s what being a true mechanic is about you only replace what is broken while a parts changer will replace every part good and bad

That’s like an 6 cylinder inline version of a 12v92 , this looks like two 3 cylinder end to end..

A 12V92 is a two stroke this is a four stroke

Пакистан много лет находится под санкциями. НО! Я не понимаю, какие международные санкции мешают помыть двигатель от песка перед разборкой/сборкой, какие санкции мешают сделать бетонную площадку перед цехом и навести порядок на рабочем месте?
Цех? Я там гараж только увидел, скорее всего им просто пох, и они хотят сделать как побыстрее.

Most of these guys are trained. I don't know about others but Cat has free training schools on every continent.
I've never seen a trained CAT mechanic take a hammer and beat a cast iron manifold. Every one of these guys are hammer mechanics or butchers.
No measuring bearing clearance?? Not even plasti-gauge?? Hope they just plain get lucky?? Also did not seem to keep main caps in order?? Not that it would cause a noticeable problem right away, assuming oil pressure is decent, but it’s also not going to run 10k hours like it should easily do..

Le bloc, revient de l'usinage, là, en général, est fait un montage à blanc, avec contrôle des côtes, (plasticages ou même fil d'étain, pour les moins riches) les bielles et paliers, sont numérotés et monté en ordre, donc pas de possibilité d'erreur. Il fut un temps (que les moins de ? 50 ans ? ne peuvent pas connaître) çà se faisait comme çà, dans le monde entier et les moteurs, de ces temps là, tournaient très bien et long temps. Les mécaniciens, régulaient même les paliers et bielles, eux même. (Mon Patron, Maître d'apprentissage, a même réussi à faire rentrer un camion, sur 60 km, avec un coussinet de palier taillé dans un bout de ceinture de cuir, c'est pas du on dit, c'est du vécu) Il est certain qu'avec les méthodes et les moteurs d'aujourd'hui, c'est impensable. J'ai passé une longue période de ma vie de mécanicien, 54 ans, dont 30 sur les chantiers de terrassement, en Afrique et autres, je suis toujours admiratif de leur pouvoir, à tout réparer, avec très peux de moyens. Refaire une injection de ces moteur, sans dépose de la pompe, direct sur le chantier, ils savent faire. On peut leur faire confiance, le moteur tournera de nombreuses heures, sans problème. Et tout çà en équipe, toujours.

Some countrys the have a shop manual to follow, some countrys the have a computer with technical info, and in Pakistani they just sit the old timer on a chair next to the guys working to help when they have trouble…

Yes you do if you want the engine last another 10,000 hours or so. In Pakistan this is not an USP I guess. Just ask yourself why the crank broke in the first place. If you just see the marks on the pistons, she was already running bad for some time. I guess the diesel and sutt went past the seals giving the bearings a hard life. No new sleeves no new pistons... just wire wheeling them clean? Haha great job.
@@ruudmobile6726 that engine probably runs fine at least 10 years or more. Or you thing everywhere in the world they put new sleeves and new pistons. I have been to mines and construction sites where machinery is fixed on site and as fast as possible, sometimes with locally sourced parts. As getting parts from Cat will take weeks and loss of revenue. A digger and truck not working is not making money for the company.

Caterpillar are overbuilt, over enginereed and pretty underpowered.
Old Caterpillar engines= Reliability on its prime
Don’t need massive amounts of horse power need plenty of low down torque for pushing dirt which these have

Pakistan govt must arrange capable mechanical and metallurgical engineers, technicians and skilled persons to design and manufacture all kinds of engines, chases of busses, cars, trucks and raw materials must also be taken within the country. The machinery to be used for manufacture of engines must also be manufactured in the country. It is the true path to boost up the economy of the country. The companies mentioned above are looting Pakistan since long time. They have never played any role in strengthening Pakistan rather these are engaged in transferring capital looted from pakistanies to their own countries. For God sake, it is the time O my homelanders engineers, technicians and skilled persons to play your role to save our homeland from such destructive situation.
