they are not afraid of anything... , they are making difficult repairs of complicated machinery, and yet nobody there had an idea to make simple workshop lifting tools, transport chariots or proper workbench. Why? Do they really prefer backbreaking efforts of lifting heavy components bare hands and rolling gears in dust?

You better believe that. I so admire their dedication and hard work, but these repairs can't last more than a few hours, if that. Where are their dissassembly and assembly manuals. Parts book?? There is no telling how many seals and O-rings are left off in the re-assembly!! I feel sorry for these guys, but the old saying, "Igorance is bliss", still stands today!!

There is only one way to assemble those heavy parts and that's to lift to the right height then slide them in STRAIGHT. No jiggling around getting it on then trying to lift into place, that's how damage is done. If they can't afford a forklift then make something up to lift and hold.

    1. Let's hit the end of the bolts with a hammer so the nuts won't go back on. 2. Every other operation requires a hammer. Advanced guys get the big one. 3. Drop all the gearbox internals into the dirt. 4. If you don't have a hammer, a pair of pliers will be ok. 5. A screwdriver is better than a cold chisel. 6. Ensure the Gearbox internals get a good covering of dust/dirt. 7. Drop internal gear on the floor and let it roll around in the back of a truck. 8. Weld shaft, letting weld splatter get distributed all over gear surface. 9. Centre shaft and gear on the lathe by eye. 10. Hammer fir for bearing, no H8 tolerances here. 11. Spray some obnoxious degreasing agent everywhere. 12. Make sure (probably) carcinogenic solvent is well distributed on bare hands. 13. Re-fit transmission cover without sealant on mating surfaces. 14. Fit-ring seal by stabbing it with a pointed instrument. 15. Never did see the welded bit done, or the bearings put back in.
