Yes, the biggest draw in Xochimilco is the boat ride, but I love to check out and people watch in neighborhoods. You get a better feel for life there. Its best for the street-smart traveler though, as there are some scam artists and such and the center is not much visited by tourists.

Just a weeeee bit touristy, lol. I can see why Pancho wasn't thrilled, being a local and all. I'm back in CDMX in August, so we may do this, but it looks like something to do with a group of friends or family. Great video. Your sense of humor cracks me up.

Mexico City was my first trip to Mexico way back in 1997 or 1998, but I didn't get to Xochimilco so I need to get back there and I want to see that haunted island with the dolls. I'll watch more of your videos since you're not an irritating narcissist like so many other vloggers.

I visited CDMX once, in 2018 but didn't have enough time to make it to Xochimilco (5 days in the city wasn't enough). I'm going again in May (in just two months from now, can't wait!) for a 2nd time and will be staying for 9 days this time. Definitely going to go to Xochimilco when I'm there. Looks amazing!!!
I live in NYC and all of CDMX (not just Xochimilco) is a much more interesting and exciting city than NYC lol

I have watched hundreds of Mexico City videos since I adore Mexico City and study pre-European and post-European history, architecture and development. With that said, I felt like the vibe was off in this video for many reasons. Not only did his friend come across as uncomfortable with the camera presence but the humour was a little distasteful in my opinion, even if it was not intended to come across as condescending.
I really hated when he asked his Mexican friend if being on the trajinera didn't make him miss his ancestors or make him want to build a chinampa? It came across as very old-school type of humour, like a white american-passive-aggressive type of humour - even though the American hardly looks white himself - even if that's his friend, I don't think it matters because the video is made for the public and we're the audience. Certain things are not okay.
I thought the "joke" was so poor and rationally speaking, a very odd question to ask; why would a Mexican-mestizo, in 2022 miss someone from the 1400s? And why would that make him want to build a chinampa? The joke itself lacks correlation, logic and competence. Imagine I visit NYC and have a respectful American taking me around, we pass by where the twin towers used to be and I'm like "when seeing this site, doesn't it make you miss these dead Americans? Doesn't it make you want to build the towers again?"
Moreover, for a former teacher, this man clearly didn't check his spelling or Google the words used in the editing of the video, to ensure accuracy in spelling and history. They're not Chinapas! They're Chinampas.
Also, at the beginning, the blue tortilla "quesadilla" is not a quesadilla, it's a machete. His friend is also not eating just a "chicken sandwich", it's a torta, which is a lot more like a panini VS a sandwich. I feel like Mexican gastronomy deserves a lot of respect.

If you have now watched my other videos, I hope you’ve concluded that I, indeed, have a great love and respect for Mexican history and culture. In fact, all my videos aim to showcase all the fascinating sites and attractions Mexico has to offer, which most U.S. citizens miss out on, because they only view Mexico as beach resorts. Yes, my friend isn’t the most animated on camera, but he wasn’t “uncomfortable.” My joke may not have been your “cup of tea” and that’s fine, but your analysis of the joke is way off, and frankly, ridiculous. I didn’t ask if he “missed” his ancestors, I asked if it “reminded” him of his roots. You say my joke “is old school”. Well, I’m 45. I know I look really good, but I’m generation X. We aren’t as woke as you and still find humor in things. You compare my joke to some imaginary “white American humor” and in the same sentence say I don’t look white. How do you know what my ancestry is? And why does it matter? For your information; my family is Italian, and when I visit them in Sicily, while walking the ancient streets of Palermo, I like to imagine my Moorish ancestors building those beautiful Mosques with their incredible mosaics which would later be converted to churches. I get excited knowing that blood runs through my veins. That’s my connection to history and it excites me. So, asking my friend if he is reminded of his Nahuatl-speaking roots does not seem disrespectful at all. The comparison to the Twin Towers is illogical; you’re comparing a previous civilization from over 500 years ago to a 21st century terrorist attack? In terms of the machete, my friend (born and raised in Mexico City” called it a quesadilla. The only real difference is the size. I left out one letter in Chinampa; no need to criticize me for “being a teacher.” Even teachers make mistakes. You assume my videos are made for the general public, therefore my humor is not “ok.” I make these videos as a hobby: I spend a lot of time on them and love creating them. If people like them, great! If not, I don’t really care. I’m proud of what I created. I’m not looking to be “UA-cam famous” or make money from them. If that happens, wonderful, but my intention is to create good videos for my own artistic expression. I love to create. I won’t stifle myself because someone might not like my humor, music choices, editing style, video length, etc. I’ll make what I want to make. Ultimately, I want to thank you for this comment, as it helped me to realize all that. Cheers!

Moreover, since you oddly brought this up again, I will let you be aware that I said I’d watch more of your videos out of kindness, to not seem hostile. I’m not too sure if your triggered, second and overly delayed response is worthy of addressing because I can see through your tone what kind of person you are.
However, it’s hard for me to not point out the hypocritical and self-contradicting statement that you make about “making these videos as a form of hobby” and supposedly “not caring if someone doesn’t like them”, yet your actions here say the contrary. Had you not cared that I don’t like them or what I had to say the first time, you would have never responded to my comment, let alone this second time, which frankly comes across as being cringe. You say that you won't stifle? but that’s exactly what this second and delayed response seems like.
You’re not thankful to my comment, nor have you learned anything from it, people like you don’t take criticism in any positive way, in fact, it’s probably one of your biggest flaws growing up and in your professional life. All your doing here is using that statement as a justification to lash out at me for a second time, which has done nothing to me as the audience, but it does make me wonder if you’re going through something. I hope whatever that is gets solved.

They were attacks on my character and made assumptions, to which I felt I must respond. “White-American-passive aggressive humor”? “For a teacher this man didn’t Google the spelling”. If your intention was constructive criticism, you certainly missed the mark. You can tell what kind of person I am? I’m the kind of person who wouldn’t leave unnecessarily nasty essay-length comments on a YT video.
