Great video , this town is not a cancun but more authentic Mexican town , I’ve been twice already in 2024 and its the coolest simple town with amazing friendly cool people locals and expats and a drag queen show every nite on the beach at La Maxim that goes til 430am. I hope it never allows the 5 star resort chains to buy beach front. There’s all kinds of decent accommodations. It’s unique Casa Nudista for the brave lol, they have nice dorm rooms for the budget traveller but it’s mandatory naked inside the fence . I truly thought this town was one of my best places in Mexico after 41 trips to all the resort places in mexico. My advice leave your 5 Star mandatory attitude at home and enjoy something very unique. Im going back this fall for trip three in 2024. Open your mind and walk the beach naked as it’s legal. Hate to say i hope you all don’t go there as it will drive up the prices if it becomes too trendy like a tulum holiday LOL

Thank you for your videos. You mention you want to go to Veracruz. I made 2 trips to the state in the nineties, one to Veracruz (city) and Xalapa, the other to see the celebration of Corpus Cristi in Papantla (which I’d heard of because of a famous Alvarez Bravo photograph). That festival is definitely worth seeing, but, warning, it is very hot there in June! But sometimes you gotta do hat you gotta do. In Xalapa (Jalapa?), the anthropology museum is a must-see, not only for the giant heads, but because the museum is so beautifully designed. I have been to Mexico twice for day of the dead, both times in Oaxaca. The first time for a photography workshop with Geoff Winningham, decades ago, where the focus was on outlying villages. My second visit was last year, and I focused on Oaxaca city itself. I enjoyed both visits.

Simetimes the selections are either inaproriate to the mood, (too techno or electronic, or loud, when the scenes are quint, scenic or cultural.) Otherwise you use some super tasteful music generally. Volumes are good and so are transitions.

I was charmed at age 15 when I visited SMA so many decades ago and learned there was an artist colony there. As an old gringa (Italian-Anglo) I want to finish my Master of Fine Arts degree there and live humbly. I too hate pretentious fakery. My Italian nonna (grandma) was brown skinned and never spoke English very well. Euro-Americans often are head/ego centered not corazon based. I have had many past incarnations amongst indigenous people. As a psychotherapist have enjoyed working with Mexican clients. I am retired now and SMA photos enchant me. I wouldn't like to spend much time in Centro. Racism pisses this old woman off. It always has. Muchas gracias amigo. You are a cool looking and charming dude.

As far as the backlash from San Miguel de Allende expats is concerned: yeah, it's beautiful but is it really representative of Mexico?
