  • I created this video as a quick run-through on changing the oil in your Range Rover at home. The dealers want a few hundred dollars for this job, and you can do it yourself for the just the cost of the oil and a filter. This is a quick overview and not a step-by-step, so if you would like more info please let me know.

    Thanks so much for the tip about the cardboard! It really worked well and I ended up not spilling a drop. So helpful. If one just pulls the drain plug and lets it drain, it would go everywhere! Thanks again!

      @CentTxLiving  2 роки тому +1

      That's great to know, I truly appreciate the feedback. As for your question; no, I was advised not to on one of the Range Rover forums. Apparently, the going philosophy is you don't change that sucker until it fails. Lol. So, I have one handy in the event I lose fuel pressure, then I can quickly change it.

    • @CentTxLiving
      @CentTxLiving  2 роки тому +1

      No, I haven't. Presuming you checked the air filter, and your sparkplug service is up to date, I would look to fuel delivery- fuel pump or filter. Check the diagnostic codes to narrow down your search, they'll probably lead you to the pump which may actually be the filter. It should be fairly simple to narrow down. Good luck my friend. 👍

    • @CentTxLiving
      @CentTxLiving  6 років тому

      brian winkle you're correct, that will provide you with more space. But, remember to open a door or the lift gate to prevent the suspension from returning to normal ride height while you're underneath it. Thank you for the comment.

    I have the same SUV but 2006. I have a few questions for you.
    A, what kind of fluid you used to do transfer gear box? I was thinking about using Royal Purple Synchromax since I can't find Shell TF 0753.
    B, what kind of oil for the front Diff?
    C, Can I used the same fluid for both the front Diff and back Diff?
    Thanks

    • @CentTxLiving
      @CentTxLiving  4 роки тому +1

      Cool, a jag engine- nice. You know the 06 actually has almost two inches more wheel travel than the 07+
      A. I've been using royal purple syncromax with great results.
      B. I use royal purple max gear in the diffs because it has the carbon additive for the licking rear diff. My rear diff is the original unit and hasn't failed yet. (Knock on wood)
      C. Yes I use the same fluid for the front as well.
      Also, I use Mercon sp in the trans. Ford actually designed mercon sp for their trucks that use that trans. The royal purple use is basically built on happenstance, it's readily available in my neighborhood. Thank you for the comment and for watching.

    How long does oil usually last before you have to change it month wise. And does it take a washer or an O-ring on the nut that goes to the oil pan. Tired of taking it in cost me $120 every time to change the oil but he's using European oil. And also have you changed the EVAP smog ignition looks like an fuel filter by the gas tank usually they go out on these cars at 100,000 mine recently went on check engine light said it was an EVAP how hard is that to change trying to do all this myself from now on

    • @CentTxLiving
      @CentTxLiving  7 років тому

      COWBOYS it does take an oring on the drain plug. I'm in the process of finding a suitable replacement from a local source. I actually base my oil changes on the color of the oil. If it looks really black and burnt, then I schedule a time to change it. That usually falls between 6k and 7500 miles. The good news is, these Jaguar engines seem very robust and not prone to leaks or oil burning. In between oil changes I never need to add any oil. I hope this answers your question.

    • @CentTxLiving
      @CentTxLiving  7 років тому

      COWBOYS sorry, forgot to address the eval question. I have not changed mine yet, so I'm sorry I have no information on that service. mine has 136k miles and it is still going strong.

    Hi can I ask you , they say you need a flash lube system on the Jags engines as the valves are not as hard as the BMW engines the other supercharged had and if there is no flash lube system they could burn the valves. Do you have a flash lube system ?

    • @CentTxLiving
      @CentTxLiving  5 років тому

      It means you have a leak somewhere internally. You gotta start with where the oil came from and how the two are mixing. It could be a blown head gasket, or it could be something small like an oring or gasket. Good luck with it.

Plus, it costs several thousand to repair. Armed with this information, I decided the 4.2 supercharged is worth holding onto.
