Its the Corona effect! Like tv channels repeating over and over old programs they're doing the same with car reviews by changing the titles to a "2020" or "2021 review" A bit of a sad solution if you ask me.
I had a chance to drive one of these ones. I must say. Im so amazed by this car. It looks super giant from outside but inside you feel like in ariplane. Must buy
Fun fact: since its production at 2002, the Volvo XC90 has never been in an accident, as well as no passenger or driver were injured or killed. Rated the safest family car in the world, surely this is way underrated.
Same as Lexus with its quality…unfortunately more and more people are only interested in look, badge and sat nav sys…but quality and safety are left at last :/
@@winstonthecuttlefish5352 well cvts are very efficient but I’ll agree that are very annoying making the engine scream like a fuel generator, however Lexus seemed to understand that and it’s making their new hybrid with a 6 speed auto and two clutches between the combustion engine and the electric motor.
@@lambo344 yes ofc but if I’ll have to decide in buying a hybrid bmw x5 for 80k or a fully equipped lexus for 80k I’ll take the Lexus because after 8 yrs it will still work, besides I like also other cars brands like: volvo, audi (not all of them),Hyundai, Rolls Royce, Bugatti, Pagani, Honda, Subaru and Suzuki (but not the new cars that they’ve making only the jimmy and swift, the others are boring). I was just trying to make a point that a lot of categories when choosing a car are underrated unfortunately and people usually buy the usual german brands only for the badge, and I’m not taking about performance versions of those cars.
Hello, I have XC90 too. Mat (not Mat Fraser) you’re graceful review made made me buy this vehicle. In black. I drive country miles (kilometres) and I also drive up hills. My daughter, Hayley, is disabled so she fits in the back like a Tetris block. I sell real estate and often eat snacks so plenty of cubby holes for my curly wurly’s. the centre console doesn’t wobble. Thanks Mat!!!
I actually like Jaguars and Land Rovers/Range Rovers, the only thing i hate about them is their terrible reliability, here in Sweden atleast, LR/RR And Jaguar were bottom of the reliability records of 2016.
Real shame they ditched the proper 5 cylinder D5's, I have a 2005 D5 which still achieves 34 mpg on a daily commute and sounds so much smoother. I like the torque of a diesel 4 cylinder but when a smooth 5 or 6 cylinder engine has the same economy with higher performance, I would choose it hands down every time. But, the car itself seems a pretty stunning package, let down by the mediocre engine range relative to rivals at least. Thanks for the review Matt!
The US and Canada get a capacitive-touch climate control thing for the rear seats where the little storage cube at the very back of the centre console is located. Meaning we basically have quad-zone climate control as standard, controlled by touchscreens for both rows.
even if i have the money to get Bentayga, G Class AMG, or the new suv by Rolls or Lamborghini, i'd still get this. It just so damn gorgeous and practical
It's a nice car but all those other cars have much better build quality and drive so much better (also not forgetting the fact that all of the cars you mentioned have AT LEAST twice the amount of cylinders) nice car but chalk and cheese to the cars you mentioned
Carwow and Mat Watson have got these reviews absolutely nailed. Best car review channel in the UK (or perhaps the world?) Perfect blend of facts, opinion and personality which is very difficult to get right....... Matt Watson is more entertaining to watch than ANY of the current Top Gear presenters.
4:32 The key to success with handsfree tailgates is to simply kick your foot in and out from under the vehicle - perpendicular to the bumper. The side-to-side motion typically doesn't work.
The ride is firm because you have an r-design spec. The whole idea of the r-design is that it's set up totally different and is their sport spec. Although I would say go for the four corner air suspension anyway as that will give you an adaptive ride
In most comparison tests the q7 was rated over this. Also what car suits u better highly depends on ur budget, where u live, if u want a sporty car and ur personal taste
Mat, nice video and all, but I do have something to point out for you. I have a 2017 Volvo XC90 Inscription with the 190hp engine and the 8 speed transmission. The main part is the transmission that you said is somewhat slow. However it has a single clutch transmission, not a double clutch one that you may be used to (?) Though I am not saying you are wrong, but it isn’t as slow as you demonstrate in the video. When you hit the kickdown button, it takes a second or less before it has found a lower gear and given you full power again, so I don’t know what happend to your car? And secondly, it does get almost as good milage as the new Kia Niro Plug-in-Hybrid. Our XC90 get 0,49L / 100km when you drive a bit more gentle than you normaly do. (I don’t know the mile thing) The XC90 T8 (Hybrid) isn’t as good on fuel that you might think. Someone i know tried a T8 for a little trip with a tiny trailer, and it was terrible at mileage. It clocked almost 2.0L / 100km (!) and that is not good at all. And, by normal driving without a trailer, it get’s worse milage than the normal diesel engine. So I recommend getting the diesel engine if you are going to use it to travel. All in all, it is a bit better than you might think, I have tried the new Audi A6, the new Volkswagen Passat and the new Ford Mondeo. All three of these where too small for our use, including the all new Volvo V90. Those four cars had so small boot space that we couldn’t close the tailgate. Although, there is a car that has a bigger boot than the XC90. And that is the 2001 Mitsubishi Pajero GLX. However, the Volvo XC90 is one fenomenal car to drive. Anyway, that is my point of view on this beautiful car. However, this was a beautiful review of a perfect family car, Mat👍🏼

I love volvo but if i am honest the Q7 is the best in class, but the XC90 looks sells it for me the Q7 is just unbelievable boring, also i am a guy that wants to stand out and this SUV is much more unique than the german SUVs

But the Audi does have that 6 cylinder engine. I'm a drive and performance if you like rather than looks or pack driver, and I'd have the Audi over this purely on the engine. Shame because the Volvo otherwise to me seems the superior car and as you say has the looks over the Audi. If they had kept the 2.4, smooth 5 cylinder D5 it would be a serious contender on the future car list...!

Like I said the Audi is probably a brilliant car but it's just so robotic and german, I see all the reviews saying about nothing matches the interior quality of VW/Audi but I find cheap and nasty, it's all just black plastic. Agree about the engine though, I see where Volvo tried to go but in the end it doesn't work, 2.4 or 3.0 to match competitors would have been a better move and likely give not only better performance but economy too.
