Fly Fishing the MIDDLE PRONG Little Pigeon River (Day 4 - GSMNP)

- On my 4th and final day in Great Smoky Mountains National Park, I found myself in the Greenbriar Valley area, specifically fly fishing the Middle Prong of the Little Pigeon River. Having never been to this area previously, I was surprised by the size and quality of this stream. After unsuccessfully nymphing for most of the morning, we switched to drys and began to catch some Wild Rainbow Trout. Can't say enough good things about GSMNP, probably the best park in the eastern United States and I cannot wait to get back. Also, although not on camera, I did see an River Otter while hiking out of the Greenbriar area. Great stuff.
We fish the same waters in PA and are going to the Smokies for summer vacation. Your channel is my cabin fever fuel right now, so this is fantastic content for us. Thanks for the uploads.
Happy to help! Have fun in the Smokies this summer, its an awesome place. PA is my home state and I love the living/fishing here, but I'd definitely move to Western North Carolina to be closer to the Smokies (I'd just need to convince my wife lol). Anyways, thanks for the comment and good luck this spring fishing season - we're hopefully getting closer to some better weather (March has been awful though).
You certainly do get around!
In more ways than one (wink)
You gotta come back up to erie for steelhead fishing has been really good for the fall run
I'm trying again early December. Hoping to land my first steelie on the fly.
Thanks for Sharing
Fires in the Smokies (ironically) are not common😢. In my experience, you need to hike a few miles into the wilderness to find good fishing in that part of the world
Agreed. In my limited experience, most places by easy access roads were fished out but the deeper you go into wilderness, the better fishing. Thanks dude!
@@TravelingTroutCo I like the channel man. As a PA Native that lives in Oregon, I love to see my old haunts!
Hows the fishing on the west prong, looking to book a trip and the resort is on the west prong. I only book trip where i can fish and this place is perfect location, if the prong hold fish
It did definitely hold fish, but I would say they were mostly small wild rainbows (at least in the section I fished). If your in that area, there are a ton of other streams you can hit if the West Prong doesn't fish well.
No water!
Thats what im talkin about
look up a rainbow perdigon nymph. You will thank me later
