This song is ENTIRELY about feeling spritually reborn and one with God. Im not religious but POD was very accepted considering the masses hadnt really heard this type of christian nu metal or any real form of mainstream Christian rock. The lead singer has been on podcasts recently the past couple years talking about their spirituality and how it shaped the music for them. Also some troubles it caused.
I'm an atheist, but I love the dedication and work that p.o.d. put in to their beliefs. They produced some incredible songs. Their song "The Messenjah" is as good as anything they've ever written
P.O.D. being a Christian band who broke into the mainstream, and this song is all about a spiritual thing. I'd say that the lyrics "Now that I know you, i can never turn my back away. Now that I see you, i can never look away" is in reference to Jesus. Basically he's saying that now that he's accepted Jesus, he can never turn away from that acceptance. And now that he has Jesus in his heart, he feels so alive for the first time.
that's literally what this song is about and they've said that in interviews it's written about the first time someone finds god and knows he's real. Whether you believe in him or not that's what the song is written about.
I worked at Atlantic records when they got signed and meet them once during the recording of this album and heard the demo of youth of the nation and loved it. I saw them live and they were so energetic that it made you feel so alive. That album is always an A+ for me.
Smokey was correct on finding religion, and it's in the name of the band P.O.D stands for Paid On Death. They did a free concert in a park in Colorado, near where my cousin lived, and he went to the show and was chosen to come on stage to sing the background to "Youth Of A Nation"
I've seen P.O.D. live 3 times. The first I will never forget. They were touring churches not having broken into mainstream yet. Project 86 and Blindside were opening for them. Both openers had gotten through their own sets. The crowd was building (on the second floor of a small church) awaiting P.O.D. to take the stage. The small space was packed and electric with anticipation. They hadn't broken into mainstream yet, but had a huge Christian youth following. They took the stage, all were hyped, they had everyone bouncing immediately. About 2 and a half songs into their set, they abruptly stop playing mid song. There are shouts to get back. The crowd is evacuated. Come to find out the floor was actually caving ... and that was the end of the show. Ultimately (to my knowledge) no one was hurt, but I'll def never forget that show. That two and half song set and the two other mainstream era times I saw them were all great. Even if you're not religious, you have to appreciate that they make good music and the lead is a talented lyricist.
This song always makes me smile because I listened to this song when I had a hard time in my life. Some people like to deal with dangerous situations. It allows them to feel more alive. Great reaction as always.
I just saw P.O.D. in September last yr. They were so terrific and awesome. I get to see alot of tribute bands and real bands for free at Speaking Rock Casino Indian Reservation. And no teenagers have to be 21yrs old or older. I love P.O.D. it's about the 3rd time I seen them. Thanks guys I love their song sleeping awake. Well take care Hollywood and Smokey. So stay cool and real and awesome. Keep up the great work love ya both ❤ Dueces ✌️✌️ always
I saw Linkin Park in concert and P.O.D was the second performance, followed by Linkin Park as the headliner. Story of the Year was the opener. Such a great show
This song EXPLODED after 9/11 ….i saw them at Ozzfest 2000 I believe it was? The 1 with Static X,Godsmack & Pantera….man what a concert 🤤🖤I was never a big nu metal fan but a good song is a good song & this is a good song
POD- Satellite, Southtown, Goodbye For Now, Tha Messenjah, Execute the Sounds, Sleeping Awake, and there's no way you haven't already done Youth of the Nation.
Even if you're not religious this song has such a positive and vibrant energy. Fun fact, I was a teen when this song came out and since english is not my first language and I wasn't religious I interpreted it as feeling alive because of someone, so I used to play this song a lot for my first gf and had so many good memories. Turns out it's about accepting Jesus, and it's what makes POD such a good band, they're capable of talking about their belief without getting preachy.
P.O.D. is 100% a Christian band. There name is short For Payable On Death i.e. your salvation of accepting Christ is paid off when you die because you go to heaven. There's a lot more Christian bands out there that are amazing than people realize. Skillet, Demon Hunter, Fit for a King, For Today, The Devil Wears Prada, August Burns Red, Disciple, Mastedon, Project 86. And that's just off the top of my head. Seen a LOT of them live over the years including P.O.D.
Taylor Hawkins had a great saying. Whenever someone would ask him what it's like being a rock star and he always answered with, "I don't know, because I'm a musician." R I.P. to a fucking legend!
P.O.D.-I Am. One of the most gut-wrenchingly beautiful songs. For all the "outcasts" who've been hurt by the church or religion or whatever. It's easily one of their best.
🔥Love the reactions guys🔥 Keep it up If I may, I'd like to suggest the songs No Lies or City's on Fire by 3rd Strike They were a band from the SoCal area that I feel would have been one of the Nu-Metal greats if it wasn't for the vocalist's unfortunate death. They only got to release one album but it is an absolute banger.
DROWNING POOL "TEAR AWAY" FOR THE NEXT NU METAL MONDAY!!!.... also, favorite quote of all time "it's not about where you've been, it's about where you're going"
I loved POD growing up. I was raised a Christian (and still am) so a band playing this genre but singing about God was amazing. Especially since it made my parents happy that they could buy this CD from the local christian book store.
Please do literally anything by the band ❤RED ❤! (Pretty sure they qualify as nu metal--though they're not afraid to use classical instruments like violins, too!) "Let Go," "Breathe Into Me," "Faceless," "Feed The Machine," "The Evening Hate"...almost 20 years worth of amazing music, but this is a good starting list! Another band you need to check out is 💙TFK 💙; they're hard to classify, but sort of in the same vein as Linkin Park.
All i can keep thinking is "i can fix that car" my 87 supra was about that damaged when i restored it. I would say terror universal is nu metal but im not quite sure. Its what you get when slipknot and mushroomhead have a child band and ffdp is the godfather.
This is the only christian metal song that I like. Actually thinking about it, quite a few doom metal bands that I like have christian themes, like Candlemass and Trouble...
Cool vid as always!!! What about any Ill niño reacts? "How can i live" or "What comes around" they both are reaaaaally good and well known. Keep on this guys!! 🔥🔥🔥
I brought this up once before and you guys said that might be interesting in doing it. I said you guys should do a nu metal version of your guys's theme song. Probably won't see it at this point time but have you guys put any thought into that
A song you should react to, it's not your usual stuff and it might actually break you so have tissues to hand. James Blunt - Monsters (you have to watch the actual video to get the best reaction).
Forgot to include my weekly request for SP Lit by Chimaira. Another song to check out is "Panic" by From Ashes to New. They are a new band that's taken up the Nu Metal flag and makes some great music.
Based off this song and "Youth of the Nation", which are admittedly the only 2 songs I know from them, I would call them Christian Rap-Rock, or Christian Rapcore. They "rock", but they don't exactly scream "metal" to me. And I'm not sure if the christian/spiritual thing is apart of the rest of their catalog or not. But anyway, doesn't really matter to me what they would be classified as, I just know I fuckin' love these songs.
you might know they're Christian band so overall alive is about how he felt now he know "god love" for the first time like he said it from his own perspective and experience basically.

I recommend their new songs Drop, Not Afraid, I Will Not Bow Down, also Messenjah, Set It Off, Run, Draw the Line, Snuff the Punk, Full Color, Selah, Rock the Party, Lie Down, image, School of Hard Knocks, I Think Someone’s Trying To Kill Me, Murdered Love, Rockin’ With the Best, Lights Out, Will You, Outkast
‘Be yourself, everyone else is already taken’ ‘We are all in the gutter, but some of us are looking at the stars’ ‘A good friend will always stab you in the front’ ‘Always forgive your enemies; nothing annoys them so much’ - Oscar Wilde I could go on… I told you he was a witty fellow! 😊
If you checked out Killshot then you’ll have heard him call MGK Stan and tell him “he wrote his autograph on a starter cap”. You missed a lot in this version, though. I remember when they toured with hed p.e. Like who tf came up with that lineup!?
Amen!
P.ayable O.n D.eath - your soul, that is. That’s where P.O.D. Comes from.
Or at least that’s how it was explained to me when they first came out
I'm an atheist, but I love the dedication and work that p.o.d. put in to their beliefs. They produced some incredible songs. Their song "The Messenjah" is as good as anything they've ever written
They've always been a Christian band. They were underground and not very popular before they release alive
First song I ever heard from P.O.D. was Southtown. It’s still my favorite of theirs.
Sadly nobody reacts to Southtown even tho it goes so hard

Saw these guys twice. First was a small show radio contest to win ticket. Second was when they opened for Linkin Park
You should check out their song “Goodbye for Now.” You’ll be surprised to see a certain female singer before she became a famous pop star.
Katy Perry!!!!!
I definitely recommend p.o.d. Sleeping awake which was on one of the matrix movies in the 2000s
Morning fellas! Haven't heard this song in a long long time. Very very good song! I like P.O.D! Very good choice!🤓❤️
I saw Linkin Park in concert and P.O.D was the second performance, followed by Linkin Park as the headliner. Story of the Year was the opener. Such a great show
Gotta check out goodbye for now by P.O.D , you won’t be disappointed.
Is that the Song with a young Katy Perry singing on it ???
Idk who that is

P.O.D.’s new Single “Afraid to Die” featuring Tatiana from Jinger Wonderful New Song from Them
I love this tune! My favorite quote is "When the pain penetrates, the music resonates..."
Need to check out Red, they are a great Christian rock band!
Taylor Hawkins had a great saying. Whenever someone would ask him what it's like being a rock star and he always answered with, "I don't know, because I'm a musician." R I.P. to a fucking legend!
POD is Korn for Christian kids, and I can dig it!
Nah there’s other Christian bands that sound way heavier like korn
"Rock the party" best pod song
Yes!!! i havet herd this in ages and now I this song has a whole new meaning! Thank you!!!!!!
P.O.D.-I Am.
One of the most gut-wrenchingly beautiful songs. For all the "outcasts" who've been hurt by the church or religion or whatever. It's easily one of their best.
P.O.D. is dropping a new album "Veritas" on May 3 this year.
Y'all gotta watch the video for the POD song Goodbye for Now. There is a cameo from someone who you wouldn't think would be in a POD video.
Great one guys 🤟My fav quote is be yourself everyone else is takin ( translate from a french quote )
more p.o.d is needed - boom, satellite, beautiful
You should definitely check out another of their songs "School of Hard Knocks" It's another banger!
🔥Love the reactions guys🔥

Now you've done POD, gotta check out Ill Niño
They were good back in the day. The old drummer moved onto terror universal. No clue who the new drummer is.
The original lead singer has a band called lions at the gate.
My sister won tickets to a POD show at a legendary area venue. When I asked if they sucked she said, "Hell, no! I was so drunk they were Pink Floyd!"
😂 that might be my new favorite quote! Tell your sister I said thanks✌🖤😎
@@gennyreese420 will do! I still laugh about that!
This song really shows their Christian roots
My favorite quote is "Three may keep a secret, if two of them are dead." Anyone know who wrote this quote? I know who of course lol.
POD got a lot of hate back in the day. I'm not sure why. They never got the respect they deserved.
Spreading the word and worshipping as a Christian rock band when it wasn't accepted will bring hate.
Bro these guys are hometown boys
Cool af people.
Seen them in backyards during sandcastles in Imperial Beach
They just released new music…🙏
Good song. I had never seen the video
Check out their new singles one is with Tatiana from Jinjer and another one has Randy from Lamb of God called Drop.
This hit big right after 9/11 and brought a lot of comfort to a lot of people.

P.O.D. - Southtown
