When you don’t know how to tune, don’t have a tuner, never got guitar lessons, your guitar is too big for you, you need a pick but lost it while moving, ..but still look up guitar tutorials for your favorite songs
I really wanna thank you I really i am not if I tuned down G correctly but it does sound similar so it works for me you are really good a explaining how to play it!!
the only yt channel i watch all the ads for o7. thanks so much for these man, I really appreciate all your hard work I speak for everyone in the comments when I say you're a great teacher too! big love from us all!
Heyy! Just asking, for the strumming part in the version with a capo, do you use the same chords as with the fingerpicking? Because it sounds odd on my guitar
yes! Double check to sure it's tuned correctly. When you do the strumming part make sure you just strum the bottom two strings (normally E and A strings, or 5th and 6th). Its ok if the open 4th or 3rd string get strummed sometimes but on the live stream version he's pretty much just doing the 5th and 6th strings.
Hey Emma, sorry about the delay! uploading the video now. I checked a few tutorials online and Im not sure they're playing it correct. hopefully mine helps! Have fun learning!
the strings don't make a difference at all. 99% chance you're not tuning it right. The third string (normally called the G string) needs to be tuned down a half step to G flat.
@@JustinRothberg They probably meant the 4th string since it's the 3rd string if we go from up to down. I'm having the same issue with that specific string too. It just doesn't sound right?
I see. From the lowest sounding or thickest string to the highest sounding or thinnest its E,A,D,G,B,E although, I’m a little worried. If the string names are a problem this song may be too advanced? Maybe get some good fundamentals of guitar and music then revisit? I mean that in a loving supportive way. :)
What is the tuning for the capo BEFORE you put the capo on? I have it as CFDGBE and it doesnt sound quite right. What did you tune it to after you put the capo on? "Its always good to tune after you got the capo on"
That’s correct. It’s all those notes but up 4 pitches or half steps. Do you know the musical alphabet? I think I’ll make a video on that explaining where the notes are on the fretboard as I get lots of comments asking
I can't usually tune all strings so the version with just one string tuned differently is the one I play the most Is it possible to do the strumming with the first tuning, the one without capo? Thank you for the tutorial!! 💕
Of course. You can do any capo song without a capo. It will still sound right. The whole thing will just be brought down to a lower pitch. So it won’t sound right playing along with the recording but will sounds right while playing alone
When he was saying the alternate tuning I had understood G# and then it just sounded wrong once then I turned to a F# and it sounded right I am saying this in case it wasn't just me and maybe help some other people that were just as confused as I was ;-;
So i tuned the "A" string to "A#", and with the capo insted of pressing the 9th fret i just played it open, is this wrong ? because i really think it is easier this way (english isn't my first language sorry)
If that works for you then do it! However, in general tuning strings up is a bad idea. Chances of popping a string or putting extra tension on the neck.
Hey! I know this is an old video but I have a question! Is the picking pattern for the very end of the song (after the chorus where it has no lyrics) the same as the one for the beginning of the song?
@@daz1717tune the low e string (6th string) down to c, the a string (2nd string) down to g, and the high e string (1st string) down to d (this is the same tuning for saline solution)

hi! sorry, i know im commenting on an old video, but i think i might have missed something, i was kinda skipping around XD what are the chords for the strumming part when you have the guitar tuned the first way?
F is totally different than G. A whole step up. Between them is F# or Gb. If you want to learn the notes and how they work in music we could set up a lesson. Too long to answer in a comment.
I would recommend if you haven’t already learning the basics of guitar first because while Wilbur isn’t the hardest to replicate he’s also not the easiest.
this man is saving the wilbur soot fans who have a guitar thank you
Ha!
bro this guy always comes in clutch
A full tutorial for the strumming pattern and the chords would be nice
Thanks. I’ll put that on the list

Wait, but how do you do the strumming for the first tuning you showed?
It’s the exactly the same with the strumming hand. You just finger the chords the way they were in the first tuning instead of the 2nd

Seems like a solid reason

how do i tune the g string down to a g flat? (how wilbur did it)
You can use The app called pro guitar tuner and just tune it
