I don't know if anyone is interested, but I will let you know the change I made to this set up. Instead of the spent brass, I used a cheap 8mm thick kitchen chopping board. I used a hole saw to cut the 6 pieces out, then sanded the edges off and pushed them inside the tripod. then using a 9mm drill bit, pushed it down through the middle (middle was already drilled out by the guide bit in the hole saw). Im in Australia hence mm. the middle of the tripod shaft gets tighter, but a hammer on top of the bolt and washer will get it in. works a charm!!
thanks for sharing! damn I just seen your video, and I just converted my over last week! using washers I tig welded together because I couldn't find any fender washers! Seems to be working great with the amazon ball head! Bolted a $10 amazon 10" long generic swiss arca rail onto the bottom of my tikka rifle and everything is great!
Hey. I know you like the 300 ford inline 6. We have talked before. I spent a lot of money and built a pretty hot one. 295 torque and 250 hp to the wheels. All on a 2 barrel carburetor. If you want to see the dyno run let me know
Son they’ve run everything from sawmills to gas/oil wells round here nit countin the cj’s…rode to high school ina buddies 79’ and damn if we didn’t put it through hell and she kept chuggin..ima 4.3 kinda guy..
It's a 42mm ball, max load of 44lbs. I think it's the same size as the new tripod ball head. When the heat wave breaks, I'll get them both out & switch them back and forth in the real world.
Well F_ _ k me....man that was brilliant...well done. Put a washer on the top of the casings and it slides perfect. Also you can get a ball bearing washer Flat type to put on top to rotate. ___
Followed your tips and directions. You, sir, are a genius! Works perfectly. Thank you.
Using the spent cases is a fantastic idea.

A million thanks. Never liked the vise clamp option.
Thank you. Great idea with the spent cases.
Just went thru all that shooting rats in eastern Oregon. Had to keep leveling deathgrip to keep my windage correct. Thanks for the great info!

Excellent idea !
You say you are converting that for a camera. Would that ball head be suitable to use for a 12 to 16lb. rifle? IYO
