AMAZING Cruise in New Zealand and Australia! 🛳 (Celebrity Edge x Celebrity Cruises)

We’ve never been on a cruise ship in New Zealand, so when Celebrity Cruises asked if we wanted to come check out Celebrity Edge for a few nights it was an instant yes! Quick disclaimer, we were hosted on the cruise but we’ve not been told what to capture and they have no control or sign off over anything we share with you 🙂
We met the ship in Auckland and were beyond excited to get onboard and start exploring with a ship tour! We then stopped in Tauranga to explore Mount Maunganui, in Napier and then hopping off in Christchurch. To summarise our time - unbelievably friendly staff, consistently high quality food, loads of incredible spaces, lots of activities and things to do, and best of all was a stunning ship! We'd always heard the rumours that Celebrity Cruises was right up there in quality and the reputation holds true from our experience.
Some cool stuff about Celebrity Edge - this ship's gonna be hanging out in Sydney and Auckland for the 2023/2024 season, which is pretty awesome. What's really wild is how they designed it, it was fully created in 3D using VR and it’s got a unique hull design which means it’s more efficient and crazy smooth when underway. But what we liked the most though (other than how new and modern everything was) even though the capacity is nearly 3,000 guests, it never felt busy or crowded. The only time we had to line up for anything was late at night at the bar haha and certain times around disembarking when everyone was looking to get off.
We love all sorts of travel and cruising is something that’s snuck up on us in the best way possible, it takes the stress out of travel planning and the time you’d otherwise spend in planes or wasted on busses, you spend eating amazing food, drinking cocktails at sunset or watching a show at the theatre. Then you arrive somewhere cool and get to explore if for the day. Love the Edge. We were on it with Capt Kate in Aug 2019 and are going on it again in mid-Feb and we even booked the exact same cabin as last time, reason why ? - it's only about 45 seconds away from the best Bar on the ship, The Martini Bar. Had quite a few terrific nights there. Looking forward to it so much !!!!!
Haha yeah we know the martini bar well 🤣 some great drinks there with a bit of a show and flair as well! Enjoy your next trip, but we know you will!

We are doing Alaska via Holland America for our 20th Anniversary next May after taking a train across the US. We've already had to book excursions and some are sold out. Hopefully someone will set up a FB group soon just for our sailing. That seems the way to go for most questions - FB groups. 🎉
I'm pretty sure it's illegal to diet on a cruise. 😉 Impending wedding or not, just sayin'.

Thank you for sharing this vid,my wife and I are going on the Celebrity Edge Feb 2025 on a 2 week cruise to the Bay of Islands,Fiji,Samoa and American Samoa for our 30th wedding anniversary,we have an ocean view cabin but after watching this we have decided to upgrade to the infinite veranda cabin,thank you again for showing the ship and the cabin
I promise you won't regret the upgrade - there's such a beautiful serenity from having that sea breeze in the room from the veranda! You're going to have an amazing time!

Hi & thanks for sharing a great review. Can you please let me know about the dress code as I am looking at a14night cruise ex Sydney? Hubby is not an aussie fancy dresser (jeans, polo shirt or shirt sleeved collared shirt is ok) & I am worried he may feel out of place for night time dining?
Sorry for the delay - we were off getting married ❤ The main dining halls are a bit more strict, but the buffet is always available and anything goes there really. But he will need some kind of dress pants or at least tidy jeans and a collar shirt to be safe!

I don't think so sorry, at least not at the moment. This ship will be based around NZ and Aus next year though so check their website, there might be some goodies!
If I were planning on doing a cruise for 10 or so nights how much should I expect to bring for activities and what not (excluding the cruise fees and drinks and food on the boat)? Lmk thanks :)
That mostly depends on if you have the all inclusive package or not, that makes things much more relaxed and easy while onboard because premium drinks/alcohol is paid. The great thing with a cruise is you don't really need to spend any money if you don't want to - don't pay for the excursions, just walk and explore the cities for free, don't get alcohol, eat at the buffet and included restaurants etc. Just depends how you'd like to travel!

Not rough at all. And the ship so large and stabilisers possibly not an issue when it is rough seas
You got a good reply below, but from what we were told the crossing was easy as. Edge has a unique hull design so it's more efficient and has great stability even when it's listing

What do you think about 18 days Tahitian Treasures cruise from Sydney to Honolulu? My wife thinks it's too long a cruise from our 7 - Day Carribean cruise last year. What's there to do inside the ship for 18 days? Any input/advice from anybody here would be much appreciated. Thanks!!

I have never been on cruise ship or cruised. Would Celebrity Edge be ideal for first-timers or would it be overwhelming?
Edge would be the perfect first ship! It's not as large as others so that means a lot less 'things' and a lot less overwhelming. Despite that, it never felt packed and overcrowded like others we've been on and heard about - we highly recommend! Easily our fav.
You didn't show buffet clearly. Can you tell me which types of food were available especially the Indian foods.
We couldn't tell you in detail sorry - but for each cuisine there was 5-15 different plates or options, it's pretty extensive
Do you get sea sick?
Not in the slightest - the ship is uniquely designed around the hull, it's crazy efficient and smooth even in big swells
