    Beautiful watch, it looks good on the Laco strap. I just watched the review on the same watch at The Watch Corner channel, he has it on the Islander bracelet and it really gives it an Explorer feel.

      @David Hardy - You're right. I was going back and forth between getting the bracelet or not but I just felt that the general look-n-feel of the ISL-54 was pilot-like so I went with the Laco. Either one is a winner in any case 😃👍🏼
      Thanks for watching!

    Very good review and thanks for the links to the straps. I purchased this watch and extra bracelet yesterday and today the website says the watch is out of stock.

    The back looks so Seiko. It’s like a cross between a Seiko and an IWC really cool. The dark blue dial and the logo are so modern and classic. The hacking movement is great.

      @Christopher Ward - « … cross between a Seiko and an IWC … » … you’re so right! Nice insight.
      I must say that, with a name like that, you must have great tastes in watches. You must get that a lot 😉
      « Christopher Ward » watches are arguably the best bang-for-your-buck watches in the industry. I don’t recall having seen a watch in their collection that I don’t want to buy.
      Thanks for your comment and thanks for watching.

      Ah yes! I forgot… The Christopher Ward watches are great! I had one friend I hadn’t heard from from for ages ring me excitedly asking me if I had launched my watch company and that the posters on the Tube here in London, were amazing! I do love watches.

      The dial is black, not blue. The anti-reflective coating gives off a little blue sheen.

    Looks great on that strap. I can see why you like it. I agree with your comments about the handset.

      Indeed, I found that this strap was a good fit … much better than the standard strap with which the watch came.
      Thanks for watching (pun intended)

    Two months ago this watch was 169$ and now is 199. It's good watch that can be for some peoples the only watch they need

    • @timetowatch_francois
      @timetowatch_francois  2 роки тому +1

      Yes, indeed, you got it right; it's versatile enough to be dressy or sporty or simply casual ... all depends on the type of strap (or bracelet) you put on it.
      Thanks for watching.

    Good review. I got mine with a bracelet but have had a few other straps on it. Including one similar to the Hirsch strap you show. Really looks good and is a nice watch. Enjoy!

    I wear mine on a MN parachute strap, I love the watch, very versatile.

      Those straps just started to be sold on Island Watch’s online shop and seem to be very comfortable.
      Although I have never worn one, they seem to be a great choice for this type of watch (this watch IS a strap monster of course 😉)
      Thanks for watching.

    Spec wise great watch my only knock is the dial or something needs pizzazz. It’s a bit boring.

    • @timetowatch_francois
      @timetowatch_francois  2 роки тому +1

      @Gmotion EDC - Yes, you're right; the specs are great for the price point.
      As for the dial, I guess you answered the question: this watch isn't for you 😉
      Quite frankly, I really like nice and simple dials and this one's nice and balanced too.
      Don't get me wrong, I like complicated dials that have more pizzazz (namely G-Shocks), but, once and a while, I feel "boring" and put this one on.
      Thanks for your comment and thanks for watching.

    I own this watch I see it as a poor mans Rolex Explorer but not in any negative way. A near perfect EDC or weekend watch. My 1st Islander watch from Mark. I may also pick up the ISL-107 39mm pilots watch I have a smaller wrist and most automatic Pllot watches on the market are too way large or overpriced.

    • @timetowatch_francois
      @timetowatch_francois  2 роки тому

      @Rob C - I clearly get your analogy about the “poor mans Rolex Explorer”. And I COMPLETELY agree about the “near perfect EDC or weekend watch” 🙂👍🏻
      As for the ISL-107, it’s a nice and simple “A dial” pilot watch that would be a great compliment to this ISL-54. Great choice.
      On my side, I have the ISL-17 which is the “B dial” version of their pilot watch with the blue dial and tan leather strap. I must admit that I like the larger pilot watches better. I feel it’s as they were intended to be. My ISL-17 is 42 mm and I love the relative complexity of the dial with the internal 24 hrs markers. But sometimes, “simple” is the way to go. I was hesitant to get the ISL-105 b/c I like the way the hands pop out in front of that white dial but that 39 mm diameter stopped me. (Between you and me, I know I’m going to change my mind in a few months and, at that price, I’ll get my hands on it for sure 😉)
      Thanks for sharing and mostly, thanks for watching! 😃

    For those of you that own the watch, would you say it wears on the bigger side? I like it, but have a Bambino v2 g2 that I feel looks right on the border of too small for my 7,5" wrists.

    • @timetowatch_francois
      @timetowatch_francois  2 роки тому +1

      @Sergio Bahr - I’d say it wears on the larger side b/c it’s a 40 mm diameter with a slim fixed bezel that provides more real estate for the dial therefore looks larger than a 40 mm.
      Hope this makes sense.
      Thanks for your comment 🙂👍🏼

    Excellent review! Thanks! I’m wondering… the strap can be replaced, but would you say that the original strap of this watch is still good quality and comfortable?

    • @timetowatch_francois
      @timetowatch_francois  2 роки тому +1

      Thanks for asking Chris. Actually, the strap is very comfortable but feels "cheap" on your wrist.
      It's as if you feel it won't last the day w/o cracking or breaking ... but that's just me.
      Thanks for watching.

      @@timetowatch_francois It's an ok strap, I think it would be a nice spare strap for a number of watches but it just doesn't work on a watch like the ISL-54. The bracelet for the watch is fantastic, btw. Great review!

    • @timetowatch_francois
      @timetowatch_francois  2 роки тому +1

      @Ken Rankin - I agree; the bracelet looks really good on this watch. Long Island watch's bracelets for their Islander series are truly comfortable. I know b/c I'm not a bracelet kind of guy but have 3 of their dive watches already and the bracelets on them are truly great to wear.
      Thanks for your insight.

      Nice to know this one can take a beating. I would have reverted back to one of my less costly G-Shock watches to do that 🤷🏼‍♂️
