That's it, in a year or so when i get my body fixed and move down to florida I'm going to make duct systems great again! I'll work during the cool season and install all metal ductwork only. Seal and insulate properly. This hackery is sickening. 🤢
You hooked the aux wire to the wrong w terminal of your look you hooked to the w for conventional terminal it actually has a AUX with a circle and line through it

I sense the methamphetamine was strong on install day! Sadly, a lot of ductwork on the older installs in Central Florida look like this. :( It’s mostly a hodge podge of old ductwork installs layered and scabbed together on top of each other. Years ago (way back in my resi days) I went on a shitty cool call after we swapped in a new system w/o ductwork, just equipment. The customer had a special needs child that was somewhat sensitive to warm indoor temperatures or lack of AC. So I went up in the attic to troubleshoot and found a wild assortment of splitter boxes and flex going all over. The main issue that was causing the poor performance was a loose/ opened oval shaped duct cutout used to gain access inside an old piece of trunkline that was converted to a splitter box. It was 2/3rds of the way opened up due to being poorly sealed shut way back in the day. The cutout was blown open at some point from static pressure and was dumping about 1.5 tons of airflow and cooling capacity into the attic. Once I closed it back up and sealed it up properly BAM! the house instantly started pulling down good and easily hit setpoint. The HO was so happy after that as he didn’t have to keep comforting his special needs daughter all the time when she became uncomfortable from the heat during the day.
The nest is a perfect thermostat I have had one for ten years no problem at all that Honeywell you put in is ridiculous to set up on the Nest the date time automatically connect through the Wi-Fi
3:31 Right here - this reminded me of a program from NYSEG (New York State Electric and Gas) offering discounted/free Nest Thermostats (depending on the SKU). I also think that they were programmed for energy savings settings , or you had to agree to let NYSEG be able to have controls to reduce usage at high load times, or be able to have usage to reduce your usage . Makes me wonder if this is why the thermostats are changing on them even though they claimed they turned the learning mode off.
I know they said they have heat pump but don’t they also have hot water coils? So I am not familiar with that Honeywell thermostat but did you setup the thermostat to use that as secondary heat. I have a feeling you might be back there when it gets real cold.
Wow what a mess. I hav a friend that had his air handler replaced and I told him it is a botch job and a code violation as there is no return from the house as the air hands in the garage so they are sucking air from the garage! I told him to get them back and get it right but they build a duck out of plywood in the garage to the house which I think it might be a code issue
You're going to have some leaking issues there Mikey. That suction line solder joint on the smaller unit is probably definitely leaking. And the bigger 5-ton unit suction line was dry as a bone with the system running. Not good . Things are definitely a mess there . 😎👍

Only ever use either of the Bosch thermostats with their systems. I would never use a Honeywell with those condensers and AHU's but we really don't use AHU's in Colorado. I have not had one single failure of the Bosch thermostat, and my personal company has installed far more than Pipe doctor. I won't even quote a different brand, if they want it warrantied. Honeywell is fine for single stage systems and basic equipment, which I do not sell or even quote. Every customer gets a choice of three brands and three models per brand with pricing including a real disconnect from Rectorseal VRM-DC and surge protector. With the rebates, nearly all systems have large rebates, but all are dual-fuel.
@@PipeDoctor Perhaps we have just gotten lucky. Haven’t had an issue and hope I didn’t just jinx myself. The latest firmware updates might make a difference.

u gonna pay for the scratched floors? id never get away with kicking thermastat on floor even if i was replacing it lmao what a joke on professionalism
Curious what you mean by that? Here in Colorado, I own an HVAC business and we only quote and sell dual-fuel systems. All homes have natural gas furnaces. We installed a two-stage or full variable modulating furnace with a Bosch IDS Premium or another brand like Amana S-Series units with a matching furnace. They get the best of both worlds.
I happen to like dual fuel systems. That only applies if you have a low cost energy source. On the Long Island New York City metropolitan area we are paying around $.20 a kilowatt hour. There are parts of the United States that pay more than half that closer to eight cents. So unless you have a cheap energy source or solar panels to create electricity, a heat pump is not as cost-effective as a single fuel, gas furnace.
