Yeah, I think he's actually underselling it a bit in the video. It won't be great at any one thing, but it will do the job for several things that you might need it for, and that could make it a better investment than might be apparent at first blush.

Agreed, this would be the perfect gun for passive grouse and rabbit hunting (I mostly shoot them while hiking or walking old logging roads, so having that hanging from a sling would be a very perfect).

Found out about this Gun from watching your CH. 22plinkster then watching you on Henry CH. Immediately went on the hunt for one and found one at my local Fleet Farm for 750.00 OTD After about 2 months of scouting... they said they've only had 3 of these guns all year long. I was super excited when I seen it in the glass shelving and it was all for me. I have a Marlin and now a proud owner of a Henry Thats made here in my Home State of Wisconsin. Fear factor can prevent the necessity to actually have to shoot a person. Have you ever had to defend your house with a gun? I have and I am glad the site of a saiga 12 ended the confrontation and allowed the police to arrive and handle it. Much rather have the outcome i did than to have been forced to shoot a meth addict who thought he was superman and could get to me or my wife because the site of a piddly 22 barrel didnt scare him. .410 is an unsung hero when it comes to not over penetrating walls and hitting loved ones on the other side. But you can still blast a home invader in the face and stop them in their tracks from across the room.

The 410 Axe comes with a FULL Choke tube made by Briley. Henry sells Cylinder, Skeet, Modified, and Turkey choke tubes made by Briley.
Henry does not recommend shooting slugs (1/5 oz./.398) through a Full choke tube. The Full Choke restricts the .410 bore down to .390. I would also not recommend shooting Home Defense Loads through the Full choke. Hornady Critical Defense contains (1) .410 slug and Winchester PDX1 has (3) .400 disks. These self-defense loads are specifically made for .410/45 Colt handguns that have rifled barrels. The self-defense loads engage the rifling to improve accuracy. Most slugs are designed to utilize the rifling used in rifled slug barrels as well. I personally would only shoot the Hornady with a Cylinder choke and the Winchester PDX1 and 1/5oz. slugs with the Modified or Cylinder choke. If you want to use the Full Choke for home defense - use 000 Buck (.360) as the late Mr. Jeff Quinn demonstrated.
I called Briley about the specifications of their other choke tubes made for the Henry 410 Axe. They claim the Cylinder is .410 and the Modified is .397. I bought both choke tubes. They Cylinder choke tube does have a very slight restriction (it's not .410 as claimed). I would estimate it as .408.

That Winchester1887 was modified to be twirled like that for the movie.
BTW, chiappa offers a 30th Anniversary Rose Box model of the shotgun.

Back in the mid 80's we use to carry a cheap 410 single barrel on our tractor, (my Dad bought it at some gun shop, cheap made, break over, and held like 5 rounds in the butt plate) I forgot who made them but I remember them being called, "Snake Charmers"
I'm kinda thinking should the price on these drop, I might get one for my tractor to help control the overpopulation of snakes here in South Arkansas

It looks a lot like Josh Randal’s “Mare’s Leg” that Steve McQueen carried on “Wanted Dead Or Alive” about 65-70 years ago.

I'd think 12 is a bit heavy to handle without a full stock for the average person.
A 20 though... that sounds like the right amount of power for a more aggressive stance on this frame!

Terrific video. You know, it drives me crazy when people refer to Josh Randall's "mare's leg" as a cut-down rifle. If you watch the pilot, (an episode of the show Trackdown) he clearly states it's a shotgun. Plus the ammo on his belt is shotgun slugs. As a lover of the old b&w tv westerns, I loved your video.

I love it! great home defense gun. but I will stick to my maverick 88 12g for home defense, this thing is way over priced. you know I really never understood the pricing mindset. I would think that you would want to sell maybe 5000 @ $600 then maybe 100 @ $900+. just don't make sense

$970.00 plus tax, shipping fee, and any other transfer fees that would be associated with it, and that's a significate amount of cold, hard cash to pay for half a shotgun. Now if I were Josh Randle then that would be different, but I'm not, lol.
