It's actually kind of funny you mention romance and then go into an owlcat game afterward. I remember forum posts on Pathfinder: WotR about how gated or limited the romance options were. Either companions were too dry (Sosiel, Lann) or characters who were favored by the audience were unattainable (Regil, nocticula's romance being restricted to just 2 lines in demon path, woljif).
I guess this is sort of a weird give-and-take scenario where certain audiences will feel dismayed while others will feel placated to.
Why are the timestamps so broken, i dont even see cyberpunk.
I love video essays but i cant watch them without having timestamps to skip spoilers and game idgaf about.

It’s weird that you criticize the writing of BG3 for its romance elements when the romance writing includes excellent dialogue and believable relationships. For what I’ve seen of the romances, they’re all written as well as the rest of the game. And frankly, real life has a lot of sex in it. All aspects of human life are influenced by sex and sexual relationships. Seeing media start to include this vital facet of being human, and work past the repressive and false attitudes of the past, are unequivocally good things to me.
I think for me it’s just when I compare it to something like cyberpunk it feels more hallow in the relationships the writing is great though.
Baldur’s gate feels like tinder for hot people that only want sex cyberpunk feels like deep loving meaningful relationships
