I'm now addicted to your vlogs! Nice to hear that the ART of roping & sheeting is still being taught - a well sheeted load is a delight to see. Personally, if carrying semi-trailers, I'd chain the neck but would always secure the wheels with straps as shown in the video. Having started with the old 'over centre' dogs (which loved knocking teeth out), I was thrilled when ratchets were introduced. However, a word of warning... I've seen drivers throwing chains over loads of steel & then using a short length of pipe to give them more mechanical advantage. NOT a good idea as, usually, one link of the chain will catch the edge of the steel & will bend under the strain to which it has been put. As everyone knows, a chain is only as good as its weakest link & now that chain is no longer of any use. Anyway, please keep up the good work as I'm sure your videos are teaching youngsters 'the ropes'!

Get the workshop to make you a bar to clip in the ratchet handle to give more leverage. Great video again. Like to see the example of sheeting and roping. In my early days that's how we secured every load. I thought the art had died.

Very interesting. Leverage is your friend there are a lot of devices you can use to gain mechanical advantage. I noticed that the screw binders used course square threads they also make fine threaded binders with screw threads that will give you mechanical advantage. I also noticed while using strap binders if you find the winches all made out of metal you can use a chain bar in the handle to gain mechanical advantage, Also if you notice there is a slit just below the binder that is intended to hold your excess, Just roll up your excess and thread it through that slit then tighten the winch. I hope you do well in your new adventure, Just take your time and watch how others do there work, cheers!

Used to visit my aunt who lived in Burton, and I would pass the Head Office of JCB plant on the way. Would come off the M6 J16, and me and my late hubby Tom (I still use his username as a little memory) on our way there. By the way, don't know whether you know, but a JCB tractor holds the world's fastest speed record of 135mph. Don't believe me, look it up🤣

very intresting vid , just a tip if i may im not the strongest of blokes so i carry a 3 foot bit of scafold tube one end has a slit in it that a standard rachet fits so i can get rachets very tight the other end is hollow so them rachet bars fit in then you can be as strong as any bloke ,, always to be over tight than under tight , stay safe

I'm not going to try and second guess your age, but I'm probably more or less around the same age as you. The reason I say that is that I too grew up in an age where women were still pigeonholed into certain jobs and nurses were women, not men. It never made sense to me and like yourself, I am very glad we now live in an age (depending on country) where as you say, if your granddaughter decides she wants to be a lorry driver, doctor, bricklayer, lawyer, teacher, plant equipment driver or even a housewife, it is her choice and she can be anything she wants. Not forgetting the choice of becoming a farmer of course!
