I used to carry an ohmmeter with me, which allowed me to check wiring to see if current was running or not. Small cheap and effective.

I am not a mechanic or vehicle electrician. Your briefing made eminent sense. Clearly any electrical breakdown at home makes a fuse check the first call after switching off and back on again. A very good video for the un- initiated.

🤦🏼‍♀️ Sometimes I wonder if being so tightly managed stops drivers being interested in the vehicle and job?

@@GBtrucklady. Eliminating Risk is the main concern where I work ( national logistics company ) so they limit any thinking from the driver 🤣.

😂 It also come from 2 other things, I was taught by my brother who would say, “don’t be useless” 😂😂 and I’m a single Mom and I was an owner driver for many years, “I’m not paying someone to do something I can do myself” 😂😂😂

As others have commented a spray of WD-40 can help or better still a good electric contact cleaner. A simple test lamp, the type that looks like a pen with an electric wire on the end, is useful when trying to locate wiring faults.

One thing to look out for is that the side light fuses on the unit are independent to the trailer side lights. These trailer fuses normally blow when trailer changing. Drivers tend to pull the plug out and drop the plug onto the metal catwalk which shorts the fuse.

Very well presented as usual Sherralin, the version 1 FH had a fuse tester in the fuse box compartment, discontinued with newer models for god knows why and not picked up by others. I do ferry trailers and q often a squirt of WD 40 in the Susie connectors solves the problem with lights. Looking forward to your next vlog.

Great vlog Sherralin, yes " kiss" ( keep it simple stupid) has gone out of the window in tech and not letting drivers repair even temp until safe area to stop etc. I have got into the habit of carrying spare bulbs in my current vehicle plus other bits and pieces and if a headlight bulb goes I replace both near and offside at the same time because as sure as eggs r eggs the other one will blow very soon. Hope you had a brew after that because you deserved it. Stay safe out there...

Ironically I looked up "Suzy Cable" a few weeks ago. Common wisdom is that the name should actually be "Susie", which is an acronym for "SUSpended Integrated Electrical" cable.

Its either a wiring problem or fuse as many have said. Are the plugs on your susie plugged in properly (may have loosened up a little if you've been down some rough roads), just push them in and the same with your fuses. Surprisingly, this has happened to us on occasions. Just try the easiest things first, and work your way through to having to possibly change fuses. (Stupid thing to say, because by this time, you've probably fixed the problem)🤣. But why oh why, does it always affect the most out of reach part to try and fix. I have LED lights in the bathroom at home, one in each corner, and one's gone out, and its got to be the one over the bath at the wall (side and back)/tap/shower end. For me to reach it (I'm 5ft 0"), I would have to get my larger lightweight ladder into the bath itself. So, unlike yourself, I'm not bothering😊. The other three lights still make my bathroom light up🤣🤣. have now got to where you've fixed it. I'm so pleased for you, and I'm actually pleased with myself as well. Over the years of me and my hubby having gone through things ourselves when we've broken down, and had to fix things, and with my hubby now sadly passed away, I've learnt a few things, and I feel like I've fixed your wagon😊

It stands for SUSpended Insulated Electrical. I'm sorry but that is a backronym. No one knows why SUSIE/SUZIE is the name for the curly tubes and wires connecting the services between truck and trailer.
