We trained out barn cats to a bell. During the weeks of acclimation, we rang a bell during meal times. A year later and they come running like a friskys commercial whenever we ring it. Its super helpful for those non normal days, like having a farm sitter needing to bring them to the vet, etc.
Give kittens a piece of your old unwashed clothing, such as a torn top, or sock. Do not clean it, let them have it, and that way if they ever get lost, you can put some of or your clothes on your porch and they will find you. It sounds odd, but it works.
I think what people get beat up about is yes it’s 60% IF you’re doing EVERYTHING perfect, but you’re LEARNING and doing an amazing job at that! When you slip up on things that 60% goes down to 30-20 which is completely okay for someone learning. You’re doing amazing. I may not AI goats but I have my own experience raising, breeding, and owning animals. Your results get better as you learn 😊. You’re pretty much already there! You’re doing awesome, don’t give up! This is what hard work feels like ;)
10:51 Isn’t the learning it yourself part of the fun?! To me it’s exciting to follow your journey and see how it goes! So I hope you will continue even if you need to take a break for the summer heat when it’s too hot for the babies. Keep up the good work and hang in there! 👏👏👏❤️❤️❤️🇸🇪🇸🇪🇸🇪
I love you are documenting the challenges of AI to help the rest of us learn how to do it. I'm so glad you tried this again after it didn't work a few years back, and I love your determination to stick with it. I think you're going to see good fruit come of this! Also, Reba reacting to your talking to her about a new buck and her shoulders cracked me up!
Danelle, you are doing so well with the cats! Theyre going to love livin on your farm! 🙂 i cant imagine you and the herd going to the cabin for the summer, i hope it goes well and that we get to follow you on your adventures 🎉😊
For the feral kitties, you can use one of those extendible back scratchers to pet them at first, to ensure you don't get bitten or scratched. It teaches them to accept being petted, while still keeping you safe.
There’s a maker on TikTok who has been doing this for years and I too am very much fascinated with this method. Especially with the fact that my husband always overcook as if he’s feeding 30 people instead of two, lol
Jus a thought about the litter box, something that may encourage them to use it. Might help keep them out of the garden as much. They will love to poop in that nice tilled soil. I noticed when you first had them in there they used the litter box and it had quite a few "uses" in it. Most cat's don't like to use them if they aren't kept fairly clean. We usually scoop ours several times a day. If I see it I scoop it.
If I believe it may have been noodle, you said wasn’t filling out you may wanna treat them for worms. I was caring for a couple feral kitties at my previous location and one of them just was always so thin, but I wasn’t able to get him to weigh him to find out how much medicine to give him and with him I did notice worms around his backside but I was afraid to give him medicine and not give him the proper amount or too much. Love your videos and look forward to them every Friday! The little cabin retreat is looking adorable!
We adopted two feral kittens, seven years ago, a brother and sister. The male has always been friendly but it is only recently that the female has come out of hiding. As far as the litter box, I would keep placing them in the box (this is where they need their mother to show them). Good luck with your baby kitties.
While I’m sorry it hasent been going the way you want, it has been so interesting to watch you on this adventure, and once you get more times under your belt, I bet you will have a higher success rate!
I wonder if traditionally people AIing ultrasound less often or later, so they hadn't noticed the tendency to inseminate but reabsorb. I'm glad you're learning and trying new things! I can fully see why it'd be helpful to combine AI and live bucks for your situation, here's hoping those last few go through! At least you'll be able to enjoy little kids on the farm for a long time this year, and have different numbers of does with milk you retain vs milk for the kids over time!
Da'nelle I've gone from a 4 person household to a 1 person household! I totally understand about cooking smaller 😂😂😂 still not mastered it after 2 years!
I can not get away from people talking about farming simulator 25 as my brother has all of the games, and all he's been doing since November 1st is going on and on about it. This is a man in his 20s 😂😂😂😂. There's always one goat that keeps you on your toes at breeding time 😂😂😂. They just love to keep you guessing about whether they're in heat or not this year
a way to tame cats is to pet them while they are focusing on eating usually forks they are so focused that they normally wont bother you. we did tis with a few drop off and it worked for us anyway
I watched another channel who used AI. You’ve been more successful than they were. I’m very interested in the AI so was glad when you wanted to try it. You know your goats better then anyone and have other expertise that a lot don’t have. My vote is to keep trying. It was a huge success just getting them pregnant. I think you are correct - a little more fínese and you’ll have it!!! ❤
the ending with Cricket killed me. "for how loud you are, you BETTER be pregnant" Her immediately being quiet and her head going down like the smallest "....ok" Hilarious. Fingers crossed on her and all the others!
Wow! The yard looks fantastic!!! I wondered why y'all didn't your yard, but didn't want to hurt your feelings. I love y'all and your lives. Laid back, funny, and just great people ❤
I find the ai cool. You were talking about how you have alot of goats so risking ai helps you not have babies back to back. A learning curve without too much loss
I know you can do fecals on the goats. Do you think you could do one on the kitty? I suspect part of the thinness on the gray kitty could be worms. Most cats that have been feral carry a worm load. They probably hit him for whips and rounds at the humane society, but I would check for tapeworms too. Incredibly common in feral cats because they usually have fleas which carry the eggs. So it’s a nasty cycle, but most places don’t worm for tapes unless they see them. Which you are rarely near enough to ferals to see them. Also it often takes two wormings to totally clean them out. I suspect they gave you records and if they didn’t use drontal or praziquantel they didn’t treat for tapeworms.
You won't know if you can do it until you try. I commend you for taking that plunge! I'm sure timing and how open they are makes a big difference and you'll get better as time goes on.
The kittens have alot to adjust to. B kind an gentle and patient cause kittens are really smart. They will have to get use to all activity on ur farm. B gentle they will figure it out in time. Cats r amazing ❤🧡 👍
Ai is certainly hard and I'm sure it's definitely down to the individual does themselves. Some are probably going to be more resistant or just better to breed them naturally. Don't give up! I'm looking forward to seeing the results
I rescued a cat that lived outside at first she didn't use the litter box only the garden but after a while started to use it on her own, cats usually like to be clean so if there is a way they can hide the smell they will figure it out, well usually
Souper cubes are great for more than just soup that size in particular is good for casseroles and pastas as well the 1 cup cubes are better for soups your wasting quite a bit of space filling them halfway
Danielle will be the first AI tech for goats in AZ! ;-) I think it is cool that you have gone down this road and are documenting it for the rest of us. It would be nice to have a dozen bucks in a tank to use whenever I wanted but I'll probably never have the need to go that far. And it's a lot easier to just walk a screaming doe over to the buck pen for the night. And so far I've never had one miss; they all take on the first try. I do have to ask what is up about massaging their udder afterwards? To stimulate uterine contractions?
For the rat problem, you can get any small terrier because they are amazing ratters. I personally think Jagd , jack russell, rat, or dachshunds would fit your guy’s lifestyle the best.
You definitely told us from the beginning that AI was going to be difficult. It's too bad people didn't listen. Be like Thumper guys, "If you don't have nothing nice to say..."
You have to try new things. AI is better than buying a new buck every year. Next season will be all sorts of different. You have done well. Being flexible and working with the process. It comes together. Love your work ❤❤🎉🎉
You looked GLOWING in this vid. You are a fantastic cat mom. The goats are perfect. AI is hard keep up the great work (like I would know anything about goat AI). And the best human mom!!! That’s all goodbyeeee! 😊
Have you tried to put their poop in the litter box and leave it there ? Cat's who don't know litter boxes sometimes won't use it right away. Once it smells like feces or pee they start using it. Had to use that trick with my blind kitty.
You should do a buck co op with like 5 people and rotate your bucks every year and then after 5 or so years they should be out far enough to breed again
Not sure about goats lol but I had this happen to me the first 2 years I AId my cows. Yes you have to learn your animals, and your skills. Also a heifer is different than a cow. Keep at it, once you get it you'll be golden. Don't stop, yes I know u want all your kids at the same time, but if time allows keep at it
I’m going to tell you the truth when you started the IA it just didn’t feel right, I stop watching for a few weeks. But it’s your farm and it’s your decision what you do with your livestock. So happy to see kittens are eating❤
Do you think the CIDR work on river and Daphne? If it did work, should you try that on Reba to get her into heat real quick? A bit bum she ain’t pregnant ❤️😞
you guys are my comfort channel ive been here for years

Definitely don't give up AI. You had a backup plan. I love experimenting.
Danelle, you are doing so well with the cats! Theyre going to love livin on your farm! 🙂 i cant imagine you and the herd going to the cabin for the summer, i hope it goes well and that we get to follow you on your adventures 🎉😊
Luna is so cute. She is a queen. She needs a crown 👑
For the feral kitties, you can use one of those extendible back scratchers to pet them at first, to ensure you don't get bitten or scratched. It teaches them to accept being petted, while still keeping you safe.
Reba's little comments on your conversation with her was a hoot.
The A.I fairy unfortunately didn’t come to you this year. But hopefully it will come in full force next year! ❤️💕
Jack Russel’s are very good at catching rats and going into small corners to catch them if the cats don’t help.
Mini fox terriers were also originally bred to catch rats.
There’s a maker on TikTok who has been doing this for years and I too am very much fascinated with this method. Especially with the fact that my husband always overcook as if he’s feeding 30 people instead of two, lol
I love Luna she is so precious
Danelle, just keep at your AI journey, and one day, you will be a pro at it, and you will be proud of yourself
Maybe she will be a professional roving AI goat inseminator!
Jus a thought about the litter box, something that may encourage them to use it. Might help keep them out of the garden as much. They will love to poop in that nice tilled soil. Luna: Girl im a Queen you knoww!🙂↔️
You can also freeze dry your leftovers for MREs. Add hot water, and your done!
You got this. There are always trails and errors when doing something for the first time. Keep up the good work.
I'm sooo excited to watch your video! I've been watching your videos since you sonogramed Penny carrying Willow
I love that with Artificial Insemination you can get access to fabulous genetic that you otherwise wouldn't be able to. 😊
This is why I love this channel so much. You never give up💖💖 I hope it works!

I can't wait until the babies are born
Can’t wait to watch!!!
It'd be so cool if you borrowed a silver buck from crystal and put over violet. That'd be a beautiful baby
Keep learning! You are intuitive and that is part of the battle. All the best is wished with your recent AI!
I wonder if traditionally people AIing ultrasound less often or later, so they hadn't noticed the tendency to inseminate but reabsorb. I'm glad you're learning and trying new things! Ps, can we please please please have the flowy t-shirt back? Mine is done and it's my go to in summer 🙏🙏🙏🙏
Denil you are always so positive!!!!!! I think that is why I watch you.
I can not get away from people talking about farming simulator 25 as my brother has all of the games, and all he's been doing since November 1st is going on and on about it. If the cats do not work. Might I suggest miniature schnauzers. They were bred down from the standard schnauzer to do exactly what you are needing.
Any terrier breed will mouse & rat for you.
@nonnyena4267 True but schnauzers don't shed.
So frustrating! As always thank you for sharing your ups and downs with us. Experience+Cooler temps next year=AI bumper crop.
a way to tame cats is to pet them while they are focusing on eating usually forks they are so focused that they normally wont bother you. we did tis with a few drop off and it worked for us anyway
I'll try that!

Bravo on your organizing!!! 🎉 And kudos on your continuing AI journey! It’s so fascinating 🧐!
the ending with Cricket killed me.
"for how loud you are, you BETTER be pregnant"
Her immediately being quiet and her head going down like the smallest "....ok"
Hilarious. Fingers crossed on her and all the others!

Slow blinks also help calm kitties

I’m so early and this completes my heart 🥹 25 and I’ve been watching y’all for YEARS!! 🩷

Thank you! I love your organization of things! 👍🏻❤️
If you move away for a couple of months, will you have a house sitter? Oh, wait, Ethan still lives there? Those freeze cubes look amazing!!!
Great video! Luna's adorable! 😊🐐

Souper cubes are great for more than just soup that size in particular is good for casseroles and pastas as well the 1 cup cubes are better for soups your wasting quite a bit of space filling them halfway
Keep positive! It’s good to try new things. Eventually, you will be the goat AI expert 😊. I love your videos ❤
No never give up
Oh No, it seems like AI is going to be a learning curve for you this season!
You're doing great! Love watching it all.
the kitties are so cute
love your freezing ideas L am always making tooo much and it is a great thing to grab for a quick lunch or dinners
wow that ultra sound is amazing
When I had a 5 cf freezer that is what I did. Spend all weekend and I would have lunch and dinner for like 2weeks.

Oh Lunaaaa ❤
Violet looks to have 4 for sure !!!
I’ve loved seeing the AI process!
You definitely told us from the beginning that AI was going to be difficult. It's too bad people didn't listen. Be like Thumper guys, "If you don't have nothing nice to say..."
Triple W or even blue mountain i think does the ai if you schedule a stop on their routes. And you could even try lap AI
Feels illegal to be this early
Hi, suggestion, name them lol. If you call kitty kitty to feed them, may have several come lol
You should write the dates on those frozen meals, so you know exactly when you put it in the freezer.
Reba knows her name!!❤
got to always try new things an cant give up on the first bump in ai
You have to try new things. AI is better than buying a new buck every year. Next season will be all sorts of different. You have done well. Being flexible and working with the process. It comes together. Love your work ❤❤🎉🎉

Beautiful dogs you have
It's going to be ok u are going to have amazing babies
I love your episodes. 🥰🥰🥰
Yes you do let nature take its course
This is soo cool

Hi all 👋👋
March 7 is the day before my birthday!
I’m curious about what your plan is for Lancelot, is he going to continue to be a breeding buck? Or are you moving him somewhere else?
I miss your garden, any updates? 😊
Dr. Elsey Kitten attract litter has an herbal additive that seems to work for my kittens
I’m going to tell you the truth when you started the IA it just didn’t feel right, I stop watching for a few weeks. But it’s your farm and it’s your decision what you do with your livestock. So happy to see kittens are eating❤
I'm a new Ish owner to owning goats? And I'm planning to breed my goats in January and we're wondering about what size this should be for breeding.
Will there be a Q AND A 😊
Hi😊
Have you tried using seeders for the does you want to Ai
Do you think the CIDR work on river and Daphne? If it did work, should you try that on Reba to get her into heat real quick? A bit bum she ain’t pregnant ❤️😞
the farming sim sponsor PLEASEEEEEE hahahaha
