They DEFINITELY need to drop the price of the Juniors, it's embarrassing that the Studio and Modern Lite are cheaper while offering more. Drop the Junior down to like $1,300 or $1,200 as it's just a single pickup and a wrap tail bridge
If a $2500 usa price is $6-8k AUD, that is not a Gibson issue. Some is difference in currency value. But a lot is the heavy taxation of your lives in a SOCIALIST NATION WITH A THOUGHT POLICE Sorry, that is just what i see there.
That Ai was spot on. I personally don't think Gibsons quality is even as good as it was 20Years ago my beat up used 92 lp blowed away my buddys brand new 2023 lp wasn't even close. Loved that Firefly it looked and sounded amazing.
To Gibson's credit, they've made many efforts to evolve their brand. I love the 2015 range of Gibsons, with the wider soloist necks, locking titanium hardware and MOP inlays. I also love the locking robot tuners on those models too. But collectors and purists trampled them into the ground. Gibson is being stifled by the middle aged bankers and dentists that treat guitars like "investments", rather than functional instruments.
Last month I bought a Squier Affinity Stratocaster. I was surprised it was so well made and played nice, that I bought another ! Super-savings for me. Of course, I had to swap the pickups for a Fender Tex-Mex SSS pre-wired pickguard set and now I have two fine playing (and sounding) guitars.
Think analysis is spot on. Although my experience of Gibson recently has been great . Last two years I’ve brought in a 50 and 60s standard that are superb. whole different experience from my Epiphone inspired by Gibsons. In the last 10 months I’ve brought in 2 ep lps and a casino . All 3 the jacks fell out within 2 to 3 months . Both lps have pick up problems one neck dosent work the other bridge dosent work . Wouldn’t buy another epiphone and if asked would steer buyers to perhaps PRS SE that are sensational at the price.
Only needed 5 minutes to agree. I myself LOVE Gibsons but I live them for the LEGACY- I think Paul from PRS has more connection to folks than any of the new Gibson execs. Im also interested to try the Harley Benton and Firefly brands for everyday playing. I wouldnt take a $3000 guitar to gigs all the time
Something AI doesnt understand. I got my first gibson for 420 bucks... Last time I got a gibson it was 8oo or so bucks. A gibson does not need to cost 3000 dollars.
@@jasonl1942 If you look on guitar center you can find a Gibson LP tribute with with the inlays and everything for 750. I tried to post a link but its not hard to find something like that. Also LPJ's there are all kinds of options without spending over 1000 dollars.
@@jasonl1942 A SG STANDARD is like 1800 here. From the gibson webstite. If you want the super high end stuff you gunna pay, but to get a gibson guitar you dont need more than one thousand and many times less. Especially when you get into the Tributes, specials, J's....
Love your videos they're informative and entertaining. Keep trolling these gibson snobs bro they need to be put in their place and I'm loving it 😂. And that's coming from a gibson owner myself. I love gibson les pauls. As a les paul enthusiast I've always regarded the gibson lp to be the original and the only real lp of them all. BUT to put them on a pedestal and believe they make the best lps and that their guitars are significantly better than the rest of the lps out there is just plain false. I own a couple of lps from gibson epi and chibson. All of them original from the factory. And let me tell you they're all almost the same when it comes to sound, feel and playability.
Either ,Gibson made in mexico series ( like fender).. Or Completely unfished guitar kits with a special serial # identifying it as such not sold to dealers but direct.
I really do not know what to say. AI is being brutally honest! Maybe you don’t like it but it doesn’t mean that it’s wrong. Team up with the younger generation, hallelujah! One thing that struck me though. AI could only mention four other guitar brands that would dominate the market if Gibson goes away. That, I think is wrong. I think the guitar market will spread out to hundreds of different manufacturers and the name on the headstock will not matter. As everything else the modern want to express yourself in a unique individual way will be the determining factor. Very interesting video Mike! Keep doing what you do, you communicate important stuff. (I say this because I love Gibson and don’t want to see them fail)
Thank you brother. AI actually went on later to say that Harley Benton was dominating the market with over 1 BILLION in sales annually. Compared to Gibsons Brands 600 million, and they are now being outperformed by many other brands. Very interesting stuff. Thanks for watching. Keep up your good work over there. I love to see your channel grow. One of the best out there.
It is only a very limited high end niche market that allows Rolls Royce to survive, even with a truly outstanding quality product. A company like Land Rover also demands a high price level (although nowhere near that of RR), but their legacy is evaporating when customers become aware that the quality and reliability of their $180K automobile is no better than a competitor's $50K automobile.
I think QC is down because they are the almighty Gibson, and cutting corners might get overlooked because they are the almighty Gibson. Ibanez and Fender alone should be forcing Gibson to revamp. Plus, other budget guitars like Fesley, Leo Jaymz, and Harley Benton are catching people's attention.
I agree. Though I love gibson style guitars, LPs especially but if they want to survive the gotta do something for people not only for themselves. Thats why chibson is so popular and that's why they will not win if they will have those prices sky high
They recently released a new model which looks similar to a PRS. The price tag is over $4000 for this slab of wood. Will it sell?. I guess they try to rake in hefty profit off one guitar rather than selling bulk 😅
That’s a great playing and sounding guitar, but 4 grand? That’s just ridiculous. If it was 1500, it be a done deal.🎉The only way I’d do it for 4 grand is if I get the write off.
Gibson is no different from any other American corporation that lives solely on the performance of their share price in the stock market. If increased quality control, innovation costs and pressures to reduce pricing results in lower net profits, it will be reflected in a lower share price to stock holders. Stockholders will abandon a declining, or stagnant share price and send the share price into a downward spiral. No one can survive on the legacy of their brand for long. Take a lesson from my previous employer, who refused to change and change quickly enough...KODAK.
Gibson will never be able to return to what they once were because [1] the classic age of the "Guitar God" is long since over, and [2] the general market has drastically changed in favor of new players. Unless they can find a way to produce genuinely affordable guitars of acceptable quality for the working man or new player that are comparable in price to Squier, Epiphone, PRS, (and others), then it's over for them. The young people of today and tomorrow won't care about the "Guitar God" because the music industry doesn't have, promote or understand them - (meaning "Guitar Gods") - anymore. It's only a matter of time before it becomes "Gibson who?" because their heyday was a long time ago and they are blatantly failing in QC and approachability to the common, working man or new player. I bought a Lyx Pro Goldtop Les Paul for $219 from Amazon and for that price point it's a pretty good guitar. Additionally, people are learning to become their own guitar tech. Whether the purists like it or not, people are buying less expensive guitars of decent quality to do mods on - (RE: CHIBSON) - because who can afford to buy a Gibson? That, right there, is in the process of backfiring against the average, criminally over-priced Gibson purchase and it's killing the once popular market for the paid guitar tech. For example, a long time ago, only certain people were photographers; and now, today, everyone has a camera and is a photographer. Likewise, because Gibsons cost so much and that is forcing a lot of people to become their own guitar tech, this is slowly (or rapidly?) putting that aspect of the industry out of business - (not entirely, but to a certain degree) - and that is a trend in modern society that I don't believe will ever reverse itself.
Gibson wants us regular guys to buy Epiphones. They don't need to sell 25,000 USA Standards when they can sell 1,000,000 Epiphones or make $2 million on 50 Collector's Edition ripoffs. "Jimmy Page strummed my 12 string for 2 seconds, and it only cost an extra $45,000". My advice to any level of player is to get out and get your hands on as many guitars as you can. You might be surprised by what you thought was "sub par".
The AI said that Gibson needs to reduce the price gap between Gibson USA and Epiphone, well they are already doing that by massivly increasing the prices of Epiphones (wrong direction), those ridiculous priced models are not selling in quantity and prices have had to be dramatically reduced, but then returned to the OG price but still not selling! Gibson will lose the young guitarist who gravitated towards Epiphone as they are also too expensive, there are much better import guitars out there at a fraction of the price, import guitars will continue to grow and get even better leaving Gibson and Epiphone well behind.
Gibson is most likely in the Forbes 500 so of course AI isn't going to bash it down any further then, necessary, but Gibson did their self in, when they became the bully, when your the best you don't have to go after the rest, when you do you become the bully, it affects the budget market,& basically you can kiss your company good bye, places like Temu who are now selling chibsons and the economy won't totally wipe Gibson out, but I bet made in USA is about ready to end, they are getting beat out on quality control from other countries.
I have been wanting a Gibson Les Paul Standard my whole life. The problem has always been price. I found Harley Benton and now I don't desire a "Gibson".
