okay I'm at the 15 minute mark and I cant take how so far it seems the writer didnt even consider why dirk gifted the bot to jake nor the fact that in the comic jake eventually came to like the robot the robot never attacked him inside his house in cannon, only outside, and he also protected him from the lusii in the island wich allowed jake to final walk out of the temple and live and dirk didnt give jake the gift out of nowhere nor did he convince him it was his way of showing care, dirk sent him the robot cause jake 1 wanted to become a person of action wich the robot could help him with and 2 wanted safety in his home wich the robot provided, the robot WAS dirk's way to show apreciation and care to his friend's wants and needs and jake came to understand that from experience he wasnt convinced by dirk sure dirk should have thought and asked jake before sending the robot, but that does not erase all of the rest of the context arround it
Remember that this is coming from the perspective of MSPAR, who's getting Jake of all people trying to explain someone as hard to summarize as Dirk. I have faith that when Dirk's route comes we'll have a more nuanced POV from him.

I like how the MSPA reader isn't exactly perfect. It's kind of enjoyable knowing that it's not exactly like a [Y/N] fairytale- the reader obviously making wrong choices off of brash thought and impulse. Especially towards Jake- the skewed interpretation of his words by the reader. But I don't like how they painted Dirk as this asshole- Jake explicitly said that he wanted adventure and to be protected before in the comic and Dirk really did make a robot that met both of those key thoughts.

Remember: it's okay to judge your friends, but your friends shouldn't be projects. Or at least not done-in-one-day projects. Should've learned that from Eridan. As both fun and depressing as it is to see Jake's limitless blind Hope ignite the Reader's Rage aspect, it's interesting that the episode of the most famous Hope player would smash the Reader with a hard dose of reality, both in how the Reader's ability to improve things is somewhat limited, and in how they don't always clean up the mess their powers leave behind. And yet, thanks to Jake, Jade's faith (or should I say, Hope) in the Reader is restored, and they can continue to be friends with the Beta humans. Hope can blind you to your problems, but can also mend needless wounds. I also like how this volume draws parallels between Dirk and Jake, and Vriska and Tavros. Obviously it's not even close to the same level (Dirk never even figuratively broke Jake's legs and then mind-controlled him into kissing him; although AR arguably did something similar to the latter), but at the same time it's important to note that Dirk has, as he himself would be the first to admit, control issues when dealing with others. Especially when that other is so hesitant to express his true feelings. That's kind of the reason I've always had trouble shipping Dirk/Jake; we've seen how it went, and it went poorly. It's also the reason why I love the end of Jake's arc in the Candy Epilogue; he finally realizes that instead of letting others "improve" him, he needs to take the reins and improve himself. Because as it turns out, always just going with things ain't no way to live for either you or the people you think you're keeping happy. A shame that Dirk was possessed and then (in that timeline) killed by his Lord English-tainted fragments before he got to see that version of his ex... As to everyone arguing that the robot wasn't THAT bad, I somewhat disagree. Yes, I saw that OptimisticDuelist video too, but I always read Jake's defense of the robot as his usual over-optimistic take on things. Sure, the robot did save him from lusii, but Jake was still plenty scared and reluctant to leave the house and secretly disliked having his ass constantly kicked by a robot, despite what he said to Jane. If you want proof, look no further than the fact that Jake expressed absolutely zero remorse for the Dirkbot when it killed itself. Again, I do believe that Dirk genuinely had the best of intentions, and Jake absolutely should've been more honest in his desires, but Dirk still really shouldn't have just taken Jake at his word on what he wanted (or at least tried to read between the lines a bit more).

Jade was being really unreasonable to be honest. The game was also going to end up destroying the whole ass planet. At least this way none of the kids had to go through all of the horrible shit that they went through.
The alpha kids lived on a planet that was being secretly run by the condesce the whole time. She was also on John's timeline but preferred to keep a lower profile on the B1 universe. There's a story of her entire backstory showing what happened i think.
TL,DR: Jake English is a coward who can't follow his own advice and have constructive or even remotely 'bad' opinions between him and his friends, which stifles his growth as a person.
