Hey, here's a fun fact. All of the "made in Mexico" basses are actually being made with the original machines that were used in America but later sent to the Mexico factory
You pay a lot for the name, which also helps with retaining its value over time. So, if you pick a Fender, it's more of an economic investiment than anything else.
I really appreciate how you elaborated on the signal chain. Sounds great! Very nice touch. Some reviewers just mic an amp, which doesn’t do this bass justice at all.
I play Jazz bases(Fender & KSD) I was listening to your lines. They're funky & smooth. I appreciate your creativity man. Keep putting your videos out 👍🏾
Nice bass. My brother played a Fender bass his entire career. I understand more now. Ibanez is still my go to bass for now until I get a MTD Super 5. Thanks.
This bass looks almost exactly like mine......but mine is the Squier Jazz V. It's the Squier version of this one, I believe. Lol. And I'm not complaining, because I LOVE that thing!!!!!
I just bought one from Sweetwater. As always, it was set up properly and in perfect condition (I've bought other basses from them before). I like buying from Sweetwater; my stuff has always been set up right and in mint condition. It was even in perfect tune. I recommended them to one of my brothers. I bought the Opal Spark with Maple Fingerboard. I like it.
It sounds decent Jermaine. Of course with your years of playing you could make a 2X4 with strings sound good. In all seriousness I like the variable tones that the Fender Player Plus has. Thanks for the review.
As compared to the 4-string passive Jazz Basses I have, the output of this Player Plus Jazz Bass V is still fairly LESS, despite having the double 9 volt battery arrangement. Yes, I used brand new 9 volts. When I play with this bass, I always use a mini boost pedal to give that additional boost in output signal to the amp that sounds better than simply turning up the volume of the amp even more. I’ve used the Player Plus Jazz Bass V as my sometimes main, live, gigging bass for 3 years for a bit of everything from Country, Rock, Funk, Pop and Blues. The active circuit has considerable tonal flexibility, which I use judiciously, so I never use the passive sounds and in some cases the diversity of sounds and styles require the tonal flexibility of that active circuit. Because the MIM instruments are so good, I never considered buying any of the American Jazz Bass V versions that were much more expensive (recalling the Ultra version was more than TWICE) as expensive. I just can’t imagine those instruments being verifiably X dollars-worth better in sound, quality and playability. I’m still happy with my purchase and at $1,250 or about that, then, for features, quality, sound, tone, and price, it’s the best value Jazz Bass V in Fender’s lineup, and remains so.
Definitely a slight neck dive, but honestly it's nothin unexpected with a typical Fender. Overall pretty well balanced with a strap. I typically tilt my neck up when playing for comfort anyways.
It’s a very Robust sounding instrument with a real nice bite to it. I’ve had and a couple of high end Basses that are phenomenal instruments but like them or loath Fenders just sit in the mix so well
Thanks for the great review. When in passive mode, is it essentially like the tone is at 100%? I hear there’s no tone control so wondering what the tone level is by default in passive, if that makes sense.
I was loving my mexican deluxe but the neck kept giving after a couple of days. The player plus has the graphite rods in the neck and stays straight and the 4 over 1 tuner set up. Had a sire V7 too but the string spacing was frustrating. The player plus is my go to, like Jermaine said, the older l git, the more it fit.
Mexico made is the same materials , better $ point ! , I bought a fender strat floyd rose hss MIM for $500, Its quality. Thing im gonna snag a MIM 5 String Jazz .,Great review Jemaine. You float that fretboard ,Nice .
Hey Jermaine, quick question. I am looking at getting my next bass and I am looking to buy a pretty nice one. I am looking at 5 strings but I am willing to switch to 4 strings. I am hoping to keep this next bass for good so I want to make it count. Just seeing what you would recommend. Thanks man
All depends on you budget and personal preference. I'd recommend if you haven't already purchased a bass, go try out many basses and see what resonates with you.
Not to my knowledge...The 5 string bass didn't come into play until 76 and the Fender Jazz V wasn't released until 1995 so it'll probably be unlikely. Unless they've produced something that I'm not aware of.
Brother Morgan (if I may😁); I think you're becoming "a Fender Guy" 😆 and hey, Who can blame you, it's a great sounding Bass, this one AND the other/first MIM V you reviewed. Again, Great job, and Thanks.👊🏾 ... if you haven't already, wait til you check out an Elite series V, You'll dig it I'm sure, Peace.
I dig the hell out of these Basses, but the color choices are ... well, not that great. anyways, great review, as always, your playing sounds Amazing. Thanks for posting/sharing, much appreciated. 👊🏾
To my understanding that bass is just a newer model of that green one you have, same electronics and such, just different colors and changed up the headstock for a more traditional look, definitely could be someone’s only bass !!, keep it up love your channel
You are correct. Same bass rebranded. It does have an upgrade, which is the rolled fret edges. Otherwise the only other difference is to use the more vintage style headstock and tuning gear.
@@daltonbell2907 neck pickups are wound different which yeilds a different tone. The fretboard radius is diffent also. It plays faster than the deluxe.
Awesome bass. My gf got me this bass as a gift. I love it she surprised me. shes the first girl that has ever given me a instrument as a gift. Btw : question: should i marry her after this ??? ...
YEAH! Love fenders and that Mexico model is just as awesome as the American made to me .my opinion LOL! I had and still have both.check them out on you tube " bassman51able" videos.I like your Awesome review Brother Morgan.😎

I really like that you let us hear what the low B string sounds like. Thanks for taking the time to do this. 🙏🏾
To me, Fender is like the glazed donut of basses. A basic yet, classic choice you can never go wrong with.
Ooooooh!!!! I like this one!
And I agree!!!! Glazed donuts do indeed hit, no matter how regular it looks.
Man!! That Bass is Barkinnnggg Bro! If they'd made it closer in price to the Sire V7/V9 or V10 i think a lot of people would pick this up.
You pay a lot for the name, which also helps with retaining its value over time. So, if you pick a Fender, it's more of an economic investiment than anything else.
Man I said the same thing price wise it’s the same as the sire so I ended up just getting this one.😂😂😂😂😂

Great bass. The pups are not silent, despite how Fender labeled them. I owned on.
Thank you for demo video, wanted to hear an like the body of beefy sound.
That's hot brother Jermaine...I'd like another 4 string, in this model
Great demo from a great Bass player. Two thumbs up!

Awesome video Bro Jermaine great playing as usual. Would like to know if you could name a few of your favorite moderately priced basses.
It sounds decent Jermaine. Of course with your years of playing you could make a 2X4 with strings sound good. In all seriousness I like the variable tones that the Fender Player Plus has. Thanks for the review.

Sounds better than my Deluxe 5
I was thinking of getting a fender player jazz, i had a Squier version but this one is the real deal

Hey bro you should test out the G&l L-2500 and MJ-5!!
Thanks for the great review. When in passive mode, is it essentially like the tone is at 100%? I hear there’s no tone control so wondering what the tone level is by default in passive, if that makes sense.
You can still shape the tone, but you just won't have as much body and presence as you would in active mode.
I was loving my mexican deluxe but the neck kept giving after a couple of days. The player plus has the graphite rods in the neck and stays straight and the 4 over 1 tuner set up. @@gonzabaldassarri Sires have narrower spacing, so I'd assume he prefers a wider spacing for slap.

Hi Jermaine. Is there a 70s Jazz V of Fender? I find all Vs are based on 60s. But I want a 70s sounding V. Great review. TIA
