Damn, I don't know how many videos are on UA-cam are unclear and scattered. Hard work pays off. After watching this video I can literally do this shit with my eyes closed. Thank you
This is a great video man. Not a lot of people have these Jeeps anymore, not enough videos on them. In this, I was able to see where the temp sensor is, and that's gonna save me a lotta time.
Thanks for the video! Pro tip - leave a couple bolts in when you knock the pan loose and it won’t drop like a rock full of fluid 😈 Just picked up a Commander and I’m pickin through filter and fluid changes - appreciate the tips!
Unless they start putting drain plugs in Trans. pans B.G. NO MATTER WHAT YOU DO IT'S A FREGGIN MESS TAKING THESE PANS DOWN. I had my buddy weld a nut on the outside of my ZJ pan then installed a drain plug. It a lot less of a surprise when u POP THE PAN OFF, HOPE YOUR MIL. RATCHET IS OK. OH SHIT, GREAT VID. AS ALWAYS BRO.
+JPKLA thanks. I saw the only other video on this job was 3 parts and I tailor my videos to people that want something short, to the point & informational with all fastner sizes listed so you know what your up against. Thanks for the support!
Correction: you have to get a smaller diameter hose to get it in there and siphon out the oil. I was able to use that same exact fluid transfer pump and I put a smaller diameterhose on it and I was able to suck out exactly 4 quarts of oil. I just did this last week as a precursor to me getting ready to drop that pan next week and put an aftermarket replacement pan with a drain plug on it and change the filter But my point is you can get a hose down to get at least four quarts out of there.
Always replaced with an aftermarket pan that has a drain plug on it! It's the best 30-$50 you will spend. That way you can do regular oil changes on that tranny to keep it lasting longer.
Great job.. this helped alot... that's 5.7 Hemi is my daily driver...of I need to kno anything I'll be look to your vids...hope there's more but hope it's running great at the same time...thanks
Ty for the video, I’m a female I’m thinking about doing this myself cuz. I get a run around about what needs to be done n they charge me a lot so can u include the parts n tools please
That drop was painful...never dropped the pan on my commander yet going to tomorrow during service but have dropped the pan and valve body on my 68rfe which removing the rear bolts and letting it drain from the corner has always worked I'm debating on doing this in the storage lot or making my lazy ass clear a spot in the garage on concrete to avoid bagging up soil after a a surprise.
@@barricadegarage5361 I wonder if the pan designer that decided on no drain works for WHO! Love your content bud. We need a good laugh and stuff that's more thought provoking these days. Thank you
Thank you for the video. I just got a 2008 Jeep Commander 3.7 6-cylander. I am getting a p0507 code so I will be doing some work. Could you suggest a good set of tools you found helpful in working on yr Jeep. I have some tools but I want to start organizing them by car and in-car specific tools. Thx for the heads up.
I have alot of Jrep videos on my channel and ill often list the tools I use in the video or deacription but working on these vehichles I started out by getting what I needed for specific jobs and built my collection that way
what a pain in the ass those passenger side bolts are. I'm about to do this on the 5.7 hemi model and I'm wondering if I should try removing the exhaust pipe in the way. otherwise. I gotta buy those quart inch swivel heads you've shown. But thanks for the video sir. keep it up!!
I have a 2006 Jeep commander as well I’m having so much trouble finding someone to fix it so I want to out myself. I’m having trouble with my Jeep it goes into 3 gear when I driving n sometimes it in 3 gear when I put my truck in drive can u please help me out please. I got the oil pan gasket but scared to do it but I will be trying it
@@vondellacrawford1405 Get the vehichle up to operating temperature then make sure your on level ground. Put the transmission in neutral then pull the dipstick out, wipe clean then put thr dipstick back in for about 5 seconds then check the level... Doing this any other way can give you inaccurate readings. If its too much then you need to take some out and if its not enough then you need to add fluid but it sounds like you need to service your transmission
I have a 2007 Jeep Commander 3.7 The issue I have is, no dipstick was included, only a twist on cap. I've bought the generic version dipstick and made my estimations for its length. The correct fill point I've seen videos should be a the 70 mark on the dipstick. The issue I have is, when inserting the dipstick it seems to bottom out but with alittle more pushing on it it goes in about another 2-3 inches. Which is the correct length? I've settled for 39 inches but don't know if it's correct? Filled to the 70 mark but seemed to have trans slipping still. Now at 90 mark, no slipping. How long is the dipstick that you have? And I understand that your vehicle is a 4.7 which may be different?
It's more important to note that nobody needs you tripping transmission fluid on the street. It's also important to note that you could simply pull a transmission cooling line at the front of the radiator and then just pump out the fluid that way too.

One 10 mm bolt holds dipstick tube to transmission. Remove and insert siphon there, allows around 9qts to be removed cleanly.
Good video man. Well done well narrated and you captured all the details the right way for us. Much respect. Keep making vids!
Corey Foley Thanks

Just bought a Commander and need to do some fluid changes/tune up - this helped a ton. Thanks, man!
Also just bought a commander.. are you also having acceleration issues ?
Not sure if meant to be funny but you cracked me up on some your narrating. Good video
Good job. I would have included the part #s of the filters. And thanx for the tool identifications and quantity of fluid.
Looks like alot of work laying under the jeep. I like how you explained thing as you went along. Pay you to do it for me.
ty for posting this. I've got the 5.7 hemi 2007 commander. will be replacing trans fluid, filters and shift selenoid next week. awesome vid, bud!!

I had a question I want to do it on my 2007 Jeep commander 3.7 but I heard if I do it the transmission can over heat and I will have to replace it
You heard wrong. Changing the transmission fluid is just as important as changing the engine oil, you just have to do it less frequently
Thank you man I was afraid it will happen but nice video now I can do it on mine car
But y did u change the fluid ? It looked like new fluid
Hey man what is the torque wrench you’re using. I’m about to do this same repair on my 07 Jeep commander 4.7

good job bro
Get you even a decent old 4×4 8 ft, cut it down into about 8 in pieces. Then , use blocks to catch pan so you don't have to dodge man.
