Merab 6 too a little too high, but this list is MILES better than flukas or Kenny’s Like fr, dc Khabib in top 3? Ilia and poatan top 6? wtf they smoking I was actually shocked
Putting Merab at 6 and Khabib at 8 invalidates this list. Khabib is the greatest grappler the sport has ever seen. Merab has over the top cardio but is not top ten skill in any department of mma, nor does he dominate his opponents like Khabib who lost 1 round in his career. Khabib is undefeated while Merab has 4 losses in his resume not just one or two so you cannot overlook that. Merab also has less defenses than Khabib.
To be that guy defending the oldheads, Frankie Edgar records looks a lot better when you realize that he was 36 by the time of the second Aldo fight. Meaning he was in what people would consider firmly post prime territory for all his KO's lost. His bantamweight run in particular really shouldn't be held against him when you realize he was nearing or in his fcking 40's for most of it.
So how the hell does everyone have GSP top 2 yet some how Hughes isn’t top 20?? I get there’s alot of filler on his record and that the fighters get better with time like all sports but it’s not like he fought 40 years before GSP. Hughes started 3 years before and retired 2 years before GSP. Same for Anderson Silva, he started fighting in 97’ while GSP started in ‘02. Silva eventually lost to Weidman ending his prime in 2013 the same year as GSPs first retirement… So Anderson literally fought throughout the entirety of GSPs career and dominating way more than GSP to the point that it seemed like Silva WAS from the future. They literally almost fought eachother in their primes. It’s not like they were dominating until a certain year and then got passed and outclassed. This era taxing BS makes no sense when they all fought in the same time and fought some of the same people… this is like Taxing Steph Curry cuz the new gen is better despite the fact that he’s competing against the new gen right now and still doing well.
For example, Silva and GSP both fought Nick Diaz two years apart.. It’s not like Anderson had a split decision with him and then GSP went out there and rag dolled him they both went to a unanimous decision
Merab at 6 is the most atrocious thing I have seen in my life , poatan not top 10 is ludicrous but it’s saved by dc at 7 and jones being number 2 ( filthy drug cheat) , illia needs to be higher like 11 or 10 but that’s not too bad
My main broad criticisms: - Jones, Islam, Merab, DC, Usman, Miocic and Pereira all way too high. - Aldo and Holloway way too low. - No Edgar, Yan, Dillashaw, Cruz, McGregor, Aljo, RDA, Oliveira, Poirier or Whittaker included.
I fully agree with your first line of fighters being too high Aldo arguably too low, Holloway in my opinion ok, or even too high Dillashaw, Conor hell no. Cruz absolutely yes. Poirier in terms of skills yes, but I dont think we should be putting on the goat list people that were never the best in their own division.

Stipe is really high imo, he's really a number of title win merchant as much as anybody. Being the heavyweight GOAT doesn't mean that much overall when it's by far the worst division. His resume is: 2-1 against a post prime undersized DC 1-1 against Ngannou, where he seemed stumped by the improvement Francis made in the meantime 1-1 against JDS, who may or may not have already been on the tail end of his prime despite his age because of the beating Cain gave him 1-0 against Overeem, who already had 14 losses most of them by knockouts 1-0 against Werdum, who was 38 and kinda just ran into Stipe's punches 1-0 against Arlovski, who already had 10 losses, most of them by knockouts 1-0 against Hunt, who was 41 and already had 9 losses where he was always an easy guy to outgrapple Add that to an early loss to Struve, and I think somebody like TJ could take his place on the top 20.
