What’s your favorite tip? Let me know!
They are all super handy, Dylan! :)) The most "wow, what is that?" is #3 putting the title at the bottom and upper layer setting up to 'Blend mode: behind', that will never ever ever cross my mind as possible... And sound effects accessible from Final Cut (#4) is a huuuge time saver...
All. Some I know and others I did not. I always appreciate tip videos because I am Never fixed on my methods. Currently teaching myself to mix within X. If ever you do industry work. How do you personally go about final mix? Here in South Africa they are still set on Omfs even though we have tools like X2Cc or X2PRO
#10 gave me a video request idea... It would be awesome to do a top 10 audio effect video. I would have never thought to use cathedral for that reverb effect. you could also talk about what you do for the voice preset as a bonus tip.
They’re all great! Massive thanks! Quick question: in a previous video, you suggested ending a song by creating a compound clip with a gap clip inside (at the beat you wish to end on), and then adding the cathedral effect with relevant key frames to the compound clip. Are there any benefits to doing it this way over the hold frame method?
#9 was awesome, I alway have done it that manual way
Man that hold frame + reverb tip was golden. For years I'd have to put the sfx or track into Ableton, create a reverb tail, then import it back in. Thank you for this!
Your channel is a godsend Dylan. Notifications are ON! :)
Range tool for audio is a BIG one for me Dylan. Thanks for ALL the tips and training!
9th is my favorite, thanks for making this video BRO.🙌
Always something new to learn. Range ducking audio and the ending reverb bit are my faves from this round. Gracias.
Thank you for this awesome tutorial. I am a long time Premiere user and now slowly moving to FCPX and I need to learn as many shortcuts as possible, you are making this software look attractive, thanks. Keep up the good work and keep teaching us tricks.
Thanks so much Dylan! These are incredibly helpful! The speed ramp one is a real time saver for me. The Sound Effects folder one I learned using Kontakt libraries that don’t have a shell and incorporating them into existing libraries. Once again, I’m a big fan of your videos - thanks for sharing your knowledge in such a concise, smart and congenial manner
Tip 4 on having sound effects easily accessible is amazing! I can’t wait to try it!
Having used FCPX intensely for over a decade, many of these tricks I knew. However, there were several here that were game-changers. Thank you for your videos! This channel rocks! Keep ‘em coming! I subbed a while ago.
Great tips. Thanks … I use FCP to edit videos for my biz. I can edit but wow you have helped me a bunch! These tips were great … you’re a Pro and thanks again.
Really glad I found this channel! Thanks, all of it is super helpful. I’m at the very beginning of my FCPX journey and only made 2 videos using it so far.
You’re gonna have so much fun!
THX for sharing you're knowledge... LOVE the nr. 10 🤩
all tips super handy, Dylan! THX
🙂🙂🙂
I've taught Final Cut courses here in Norway for 5-6 years at least but 2-3 of these I didn't know. Great! I'll recommend your video!
Like always you have the best tips ever. Thank you so much for spending the time to share.
Incredibly useful tips! Cheers dude
These are ALL pure gold. As always thank you!
Adding effects to a title and have it affect efferithing was driving me crazy, thanks for the tip along with all the others, amazing! Thank you!
Just stating with FCP, all your tips are going to be lifesavers for me!!! Thank you for putting this together and sharing!
Amazing tips Dylan! Thank you so much 🥃
Fantastic tips video bro. Definitely picked up several. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks Kevin!
I love all these tips!!! Keep killing it!!!
Nice tips bro! Keep it up.. thanks for sharing!
I really really really really really love these videos!! ☺️ Thank you thank you 🙏🏻😊
AHHHHH THIS IS A LIFESAVER!!! I've been editing for years and I can't believe there were so many little things I could've changed to improve my efficiency! Thank you so much for the video! 😁
So glad!!
No kidding … this is game changer stuff on the speed curve.
Just discovered your channel, really great, excellent work congrats Dylan 👍
Thanks for teaching me a few things!
Awesome trick and tips, thank you!!
4 pf 10 are really new to me, thanks bro!
#3 is a game changer! Thanks man!!
Thank you for the tips, Dylan!
Great Tips. Thank you very much for this Video!! ✌🏼
I use Premiere, but as someone looking to transition, these tips are SUPER helpful. Thanks so much!
Duuuude, love ur vids, thankk you soo much!!!
Thanks for the tips
Great Video. Ive been frustrated with FCPX I was considering leaving. You have given me hope.
El 1 estuvo fantástico muchas gracias.
Great video and tips🙏🙏
Its is really work on simple way and helpful for you too
Great video! My editing will get a lot faster now after these few tips! thanks
These are extremely helpful!!!!
Man! Tip #9! What a time saver!!!!
Awesome video Cuz! Lots of great tips. My favorite are 9 & 10 for audio. Thanks man. 🙏Definitely saved this video for a reference later on.
Anytime dude! We gotta get together and make some videos soon 👊
Definitely my Dude! I want to make a SciFi short film someday and show of the power of what final cut and motion can do! 💪 Keep it up bro!
Dude! Such a great tutorial with some really fresh tips 🙌🏼 I can’t believe I never knew about tip #1 🤯
Dude I just learned that one when I was studying to get certified! Was so stoked when I learned it. Appreciate you brotha!!
@@TheFinalCutBro Ya holy smokes. Can't believe I've never realized that was an option haha
So good!
Oh wow thanks again! I didn’t know about the “conform” for aspect ratio 🙏. My favorite tip is the audio ducking with range select, but I learned that from you earlier 😁
It’s a ducking great one!
The Final Cut Bro back at it again with another banger! 💥 Appreciate it, Dylan!
That last tip was fire!
FABULOUS--SO glad I found your channel 🤓
Brilliant man !!
Aye thanks for the tips!
so useful and concise .... this is not for beginners .... it is for all users that need to improve their processes
Dude. THIS IS ACTUAL GOLD. Appreciate all these insights, still trying to work on efficiency and workflow. Do you have any ideas when it comes to captions-generator? I know Premiere has it, but there doesn't seem to be the same option for FCPX. Appreciate it!
Check out captionator! It’s not as good as adobes, but it’s a solid option and only $20. ua-cam.com/video/g3wUaXb3DlQ/v-deo.html
super pro tips .. 👍
Thank You! 👍
Thank you for all these tips! Can I ask you how do you edit the song do they end perfectly at every point? 🤩 it’s so good!
Thank you!!!
Ive been looking for that track on tip # 10!
Already first one is great 👍🏻
Number 10!!!! For me that's the Holy Grail. Thank you.
Amazing TIPS!
Cheers from Perú
Next: 10 TIPS I wish I knew as an ADVANCED in FCPX
There is a part 2 on the way 😉
Awesome channel !
Merci cousin 🇨🇦 très intéressant 🎥❤️
Great tips! love the meme recreation @3:19
Was hoping that would be caught!
Jajajajaja Dylan I just finished watching a blooper in this video it’s around 4:22. Great tutorial by the way👍🏻
That’s an intentional J cut! Used a lot in movies to keep the flow going, without jarring the audience too much.
I have a tutorial I’m working on for that exact topic! Thanks for watching!
Дякую за відео, Бро!
useful tips.
Hé merci! 🎥🎬
I searched a solution for number 3 for decades !! Thanks for that
nice bro!
5:55 Finder Aliases may not work but there are two other options that you can do in the command line to link a folder into your favorites....
'ln -s [OPTIONS] FILE/FOLDER LINK'
(without quotes) into your command line. this creates a Soft link file. this may work better than aliases.
The second option is called a Hard link, where you are effectively duplicating the file pointer without the file.
'ln [OPTIONS] FILE/FOLDER LINK'
I would hope the soft link works.
Do you have a video explaining the library/project confusion ?
Tip 4 is great if you've already have your sound effects in that alias folder but they don't appear immediately in FCP if you're downloading on the fly. Thanks
Range selector is a thing?! Saving presets 😫 you just saved me hours. HOURS of my life editing. Thank you!
Very cool, knew most of them, like tip #1, didn't know command R - always used sh-b with the playhead outside the clip - forgot the audio hold frame trick.
Can you add a default title to your own favorite titles folder? Can't find the built-in ones.
If you right click on the titles in FCP, you can "Make a copy". That will add a copy to your motion templates folder that you can move over to favorites.
@@TheFinalCutBro Awesome, thanks!
Thumbs up!
That number 3 tip tho!!! always trapped in this situation
colour wheel only listened for 8 minutes would find this useful if I had FCP already seems like the best pre2017 iMovie option
Hey Dylan! I have tried trick 3 from this video on a project and even after dragging titles to a lower layer and selecting "Behind" for the composite mode in the primary clip, the entire clip still has the effect. Its driving me nuts! Any thoughts on why this is happening?
what a sick thumbnail :D
Thank you!! I’ve been think about joking your paid group to get back into my Motion5 work Flow.
One of the things would have me join your paid group is this.
I have had used image walls & video walls. I have brought a number of Motion5 template. I would find these developers were use clones of their image cells & rows. Yet they would’ve tell how they used the clone rows & column’s. So my image wall image’s were much sharpened. Plus the wall wouldn’t stammer & jitter
nooooiiice 👍🏽
Thanks for the tips! One question, do you know if there is a way to just show only a specific set of fonts in FCPX? I have a set of custom / user fonts that I just want to see in the list. It drives me crazy to have to scroll trough ever font on teh system. Any ideas?
I don’t think you can setup a specific set, but you can save a font preset, and that list will only show what you have saved. So you can quickly access just the fonts you want.
If you scroll to the top of the text inspector, there should be a button that says “normal” or something like that. Click it, then you can see the options to save the presets. You’ll be able to select the presets from that menu in the future as well.
@@TheFinalCutBro many thanks. I will check that out!
hey Dylan, is it possible to use alias with video library so it doesn't have to re-import clip every time I put new clip in the folder. thank you
Hey Bally! That's exactly how FCP treats your video files if you select "Leave Files In Place" on import.
This video covers that more in detail - ua-cam.com/video/5q0LoH3shNo/v-deo.html
Tip number 4. I have organised my music & six library under different subfolders. Does it this tip still work? Doesn't want to try to avoid any messing things up :)
3:19 that's a really nice setup there bud 👍🏼
K, there's a better view of it at 8:47 😅
Haha I don’t show my setup too often!
@@TheFinalCutBro I see… But would be fun showing your setup man 😎
Hi there, by any chance do you know how to make the outline effect like it's done on ae?
I'm not quite sure what you're referring to. But if you need to outline something, there is the "stroke" filter in Motion. My plugin Motion Tools adds that effect into FCP if you're interested! - thefinalcutbro.com/products/motion-tools-91-effects-tools
LOL. I learn something every day about FCPX... and I'm supposed to be an Apple Certified Pro, ahahaha!
You and me both!
Where did you get the cathedral sound effect?
It's built-in to FCP!
Wow
Great tips: however, when I try the speed-ramp method (n FCP 10.6.6) I do not see the handles once the ramp bar is added. There is only one handle, which slows, or increases the whole clip. When double clicking the handle, it shos only "custom speed," with direction and timing settings. Comments?
Hey Lev! It sounds like you’re clicking on the middle of the speed ramp. You’ll need to click on the black line handle for the other options to show up. If you click on the number percent and down arrow, you’ll get the settings you just described.
@@TheFinalCutBro Dylan, thanks for your quick reply. I think my confusion came from your jumping into what seems to be an edit of an existing ramp, I was trying to apply it to a new ramp. So whenever I clicked on the handle, I was getting the custom-speed window. Now when I create a ramp with the Range tool and set the handles with the R-command, I can edit it fully. I also found this link to an excellent description of the "ramp-from-scratch" piece from Will Hall at: ua-cam.com/video/TYM_rAwuH9k/v-deo.html
If I'm off base on this, please let me know. Thanks again from a ramp-novice!
bro!!!
Dag nabbit - now I have to subscribe!
Crack!
I have a huge issue with proxy files bro! Wanna hear to see if you could assist?
Let me know the problem! Hopefully I have an idea.
Shooting vertically with Sony A7siii 4K 120 4:2:2. When importing the files without optimizing them and then you apply the stabilization build in Final Cut Pro, the resultant video will be terrible shaky, if you work with the Proxy everything turns to normal/stabilized. But you don’t don’t to export your file in proxy.
So I imported the files and converted them to optimized (which are huge files as you know) then apply the stabilization and everything work perfect. This is a walk around but nobody wants to work with optimized huge files.
There is an ongoing conversation in the community apple website about this but yet no easy solution. Apple specialist took some of the evidence out of my hard drive for the developers but they haven’t come back to me yet.
Have you seen this?
I haven’t seen this issue! But if you’re using an a7siii, I would use catalyst browse for stabilization. It’s going to give you way better results since it’s natively built by Sony.
Hey bro, I can't get your code to work. It says "Discount Code Not Found".
Thanks for letting me know! I will check in with Epidemic sound and see if they can get it resolved
Oh, also try DYLANBATES50 - that was the original code they gave me and I requested the new one. I’m guessing the new one never got added!
@@TheFinalCutBro It works now. Thanks.
I used the code THEFINALCUTBRO50
You're the best, thanks!!!! Just learned how to control the sound after 3 years ajjajacjajajajaj #studio8two7
Ok, I’m going to come right out and say it. Your title should say “Top tips I wish I HAD KNOWN…”. Sorry, but I see this error so often that I can’t prevent myself from pointing it out to you. (“… that I wish I knew” implies that you are *still* a beginner which you clearly are not.) I’m sorry again but, Dylan, I think you are the kind of person who would like to know this! Finally, I think your videos are excellent and I look forward to all of them as they come out.
Hah great point! I am no beginner in FCP, but I am definitely a beginner when it comes to grammar and writing. Thanks for letting me know! Got that fixed.
Tip 1 and you've already won me over
